THANK YOU for illustrating the pain of being a Broncos fan. People just look at stats and think he did well. But it’s all these misses each and every game
?Idea for a future Play Sheet. Ben is right that Russ in his mid-30s doesn't have the speed to evade rushers like a younger Russ. How about a Play Sheet on quick, athletic scrambling QBs who evolved their play style as they got older to make up for a lack of evasiveness?
Ben love your work. I’m a Steeler fan from England and have followed them since the early 80’s. Winning Superbowls is what matters, not winning seasons. I’d rather they tore it all down and started again than spend the next 10 years with pick 15 in the draft. Wilson Pickett, great musician, but as a QB one:two we’ll be back to the middle of the middle next season. Separately; there’s a deep sickness in an industry that pays people $85m to go away. I have no problem with big contracts; Mahomes, Jackson and Burrow are worth every $ but, Wilson, Jones, Jones & Watson to name but a few are most definitely not. I’m not sure how an industry, any industry, survives by paying top $ for mediocrity, the TV money just can’t support this long term. I watch the ‘are running backs fairly rewarded’ debate with my head in my hands; a good running back makes a QBs life, especially a rookies, so much easier. Saquon is trying to find a fair deal in a league that values s*”t QB play of dramatically more value than elite RB play!! The laws of financial gravity will tear American Football to the ground if there’s not a significant rebalance in QB 6 to 32 salaries. That’s something I’d like to see discussed on Extra Point Taken, that and the ‘wilful negligence’ of GMs and their staffs that got us to the point where giving $85m to someone who is measurably bad at their job is OK. Keep up the good work.
Regarding the $85M cap hit, the "deep sickness" was rich rookie owners (Walton family spawn) who wanted to make a splash after buying the team and didn't get that paying a bazillion dollars to a QB on his last legs wasn't like giving that kind of money to a guy who was a star on his rookie deal. Add a GM who didn't have the spine to threaten to quit if they did something that stupid and you get a financial disaster. Kind of like the banking industry in 2008.
@@markbelot3350 I caught the tail end of Lynn Swann’s career although and then watched Steelers when American Football was shown on UK TV which really didn’t become regular until the Chicago Bears had their run in the mid eighties and have been watching ever since.
@johnkitchen2924 My bad, I apologize. I thought you wrote you HAVEN'T watch the Steelers since the 80s. Seems like I'm a little to. Sensitive when it comes th the.
I’ll be honest this video now knowing what we know feels incomplete. Almost like a part 1 but obviously don’t wanna flood the channel with all one teams content. Let it be a lesson though …maybe cook it a little longer as the DJ news and Fields news do kind of change the big picture. Steelers obviously leveraged Signing Russ for super cheap as a way to get the Fields Price down. Such a well run organization. If any team can get Russ to move on from trying to play like his old self it would definitely be The Organization that had to get Big Ben to stop playing like that.
I think people are so hung up on the fact that Russ won a Super Bowl and had MVP caliber seasons to realize that he is not the same player as he was back then. Go look up Russ highlights and you see St Louis Rams at the bottom thats how long its been. He just doesn't have the legs anymore and needs to change to full on Drew Brees style pocket passer
Now there’s two things to consider about holding the ball 1 the Oline keep letting people in 2 the WRs didn’t do the scramble drill where if your Qb has to move the pocket they gotta change there route like kelce call it time to boogie
As perhaps the only real Justin Fields fan in existence, I don't see this team going far even with him. 1) There is No Depth at receiver. Pickens & Freiermouth. 2) Arthur Smith. In TN he had No Choice but to have Tannehill be QB, AJ Brown be the WR & King Henry run. He went to ATL & having two receivers & 3 RBs was like having none because the wheels in his head only kept spinning around the false belief that merely mixing up who the ball carrier is confounded opposing offenses. It never has. 3) They have no depth anywhere else either 'cept LB. Everyone's looking at this team like it's Exactly The Same As Last Year only they have 2 better QBs & got Queen. Is _that_ all they missed beating the Bills by? I don't even know if Smith is smart enough to realize what Wilson lacks because he couldn't see what Mariota & Ridder lacked. At best they should start selling everything off come mid-season. Someone playoff-bound will Pay Dearly for Watt, Queen, & if they allow him to prove himself, Fields. But they're not going anywhere even with an élite QB. There's no receiving corps.
FWIW, the only cash the Broncos will pay Wilson is that $39M. The rest of the godawful cap hit is from bonus money he was paid when the contract was signed. And your analysis is why they had to dump him despite stats that were nominally "not bad" at a cursory glance. That first video showing him running into a sack was a common theme the last 2 years.
With all of this being said , Russ still had some good stats but what ppl never mention because they didn’t watch the full games is all the times WR dropped wide open game changing catches , big plays always called back for a dumb penalty , crucial fumbles , OLine being non existent some plays … everyone makes mistakes, even top QBs , but Russ got fucked by his teammates a lot and taking all the blame
The went 10-7 with historically bad qb play last year but sure Russ won’t help them reach 11 or 12 wins and win a playoff game.. why do you people hate the Steelers so much?
EPA, Air Yards, Advanced stats. All that goes away if the Broncos have a halfway productive run game. 5 Rushing TDs between 3 RBs all season is nuts. We can keep everything about Russ the same, and if the RBs score let's say 5 more TDs. The Broncos go 10-7 possibly and we're talking about how Payton fixed Russ.
Russ hasn’t been good since 2020. Two teams have no moved on from him, one even willing to eat a record amount of dead cap money. I’m sure you know better than the teams that see him everyday. You also don’t understand the whole point of EPA and advanced stats if you think those would be drastically different with a run game. How about how much Russ hurts the run game bc the defense can stack the box, as shown in multiple of the clips chosen, since Russ is scared of contact but doesn’t have the same athleticism he once did, so he creates pressure for himself.
@@christianlatham4491Ever since that freaky finger injury he had in 2021 he just hasn’t looked the same. In spurts he’s been good but it’s just different.

when are we gonna see incoming rookie film breakdowns?
they're coming, stay tuned as the draft gets closer
We must protect Ben Solak at all costs.
Protect him from what? He's blowing the whistle on Russell Wilson, not Boeing

Few plays you pointing out every team in the nfl makes these mistakes
Even mahomes makes these mistakes
Wtf are you talking about. He makes none of these mistakes.
Mahomes' defining feature is that he absolutely does NOT make these mistakes lol
