Ok, it's been taken apart, and it is now 9pm, planning to wake up tommorow to wash the tub out from 15 years of fabric softener, tbh the hoses and stuff cleaned up nicely
Edit: might not be as easy as I assumed, looks like the tub will only come out if the bearing comes with it 😅 might just clean what I can and call it since that's a bit above my level
Edit 2: it is back together and somehow works, thanks for the very informative video, there was so much gunk from years of fabric softener but I can say now after cleaning most of it that it does not smell anymore and the new boot seal and shocks made it look, sound and feel brand new

I HAVE A LEAK IN BACK OF TUB THAT DRUM IS IN. WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THAT LEAK. I HOPE IT CAN BE EASIER THAN CHANGING THE WHOLE DRUM AND TUB, AS YOU DID IN THE VIDEO

Can you replace the bearings in the drum or is it just a whole drum change , have a growling bearing but unsure is the plastic drum serviceable to replace the 2 bearings

Is there a way to get inside the tub cover to remove and replace the baffles/ lifters? They are screwed in and all three have failed. I have the exact unit in the video.

Got exact same issue, looks like we have to take the whole drum out to screw then back again. Absolute shitty design. Hope it will be cover by extended warranty

what can be the reason to need a new drum? i am asking this because our LG front loader started to create holes on older shirts.

@@repairclinic Thank your for prompt response. Your video is very informative. Our problem is, authorized service centers tend to replace entire drum and the gray colored gasket together My intension is to diagnose it first before paying naythign to those opportunist people. If you could tell me that LG drum housings are gerenally glued together or not, that will be appreciated very much.

@@coskuarsiray Depends on your model. The top comes off pretty easy, 2 screws in back slide backwards. I have mine apart to diagnose rattle. Counterweight sheared off the front of the tub. My model is glued together. There are other videos that show the front and back half of the tub are bolted together.

Hi may I ask is the vm45000 LG washer are you able to open the outer tub split into half??? I would like to know if they using rubber seal or glue between the rear and front for the outer tub... incase in future i may replace the bearing, thank you sir

What year is that model? I have seen model made from 2022 and above they are glued. If you need to replace the bearing you will have to replace the whole drum, tub and bearing- they made them non serviceable. To verify you can open your washer’s top lid and if you don’t see any bolts on the tub you’re screwed.

For the white plastic bolts of the shocks just use a lighter to heat it for easier extraction

Use thin-nose pliers to depress the tab, the pull pin out using a large pair of 45° angle thin-nose pliers. I also used a large pair of Knipex like 87 01 400 or equivalent to press out the pin using the closing action of the jaws - one tip on tip of the pin the other on the bracket then squeeze. Worked great on the pins where there was enough room.
