You lucky still can drive on beaches. Here a no no, have to go to the Dunes on the west coast. Fancy your coffee making, we use sachets of cappochino pre mix, 10 in a box. Always rubbish around. We went into forest to fetch pine cones for the fire, even there found wine bottles, plastic and other unmentionable stuff. Really a pity we such a messy race.
I normally start at 14 psi and if the sand is soft then work down to 10 Psi. At 10psi or lower try not spin your wheels as the Tyre can move on the rim and mess up the balancing. Enjoy the beach usually a lot of goodies washed up and left behind.
Hey man. I am looking to go first time. Been to Muriwai many times but not to Karioitahi. Which road is entry from. I also have a small SUV 4x4 so any tips plz? Many thanks

Thinking about going in a Subaru Outback, where was the wings, waterfalls caves? Heading South or to the North? Thanks
Kariotahi is awesome. Landcruiser Club is doing a trip to there today.
Brett the sand was very soft but going North to Hamilton gap is my preference.

One of my first 4x4 trips

Thanks for that, and did you say the tracks are accessible at Low or high tide?
@callumfoley1730 there is a track along the top of the beach so that should be fine.

I entered at Castaways resort. Just leave 2 hours before low tide so that will give you 4 hours. Deflate your tyres. Its a fun place to drive.
