Great video, love seeing the D1 out! For a bit more comfort I highly recommend getting a stretcher the right size to go under the swag. Makes pack up much easier too as you don’t get grass/mud or dew on the bottom of the swag
Cheers! Was awesome to actually use it vs just working on it. Good to know, might look into them. I did three weeks in it down south - added a mattress topper - and it was better. But could be better still. And good point about the dew, makes the stuff in the boot pretty wet 😂
yeh a stretcher makes a big difference you can put it anywhere. i got the mattress topper hahah i,m getting soft. I usually use a fly over the swag as well, probably no need. i need to head around to this camp site this summer........looks good. thnx for the vid
Great video mate knew I recognized the place soon as I saw ya comimg into ngawi. Had an old mate who lived out there for a while, will never forget the adventures I had going out to see him there escaping the big city of Wellington. As you said that place and reality and almost disconnected and thats what I loved so much about it. Mean video bro mad love
Ummm - they’re just cheap ones from Bunnings that I bought years ago. From memory there ~2m long and rated to 150kgs. Didn’t need to be quite that long though, had to tuck the extra away
Darche have swags that setup on a camp stretcher, they are also a much more comfortable mattress in them, and a really good quality. should look into them if you dont like the idea of being on the ground
I spotted that they had one of those - it looks good. I ended up putting a mattress topper in this one before we did three weeks down south, worked super well, was far more comfortable. Though still on the ground… but in the middle of summer it was all good. Would love to get something bette - just have to find it second hand to fit into my ‘budget build’ 😅
It’s a pretty awesome spot eh! It’s defo in the app, is a pro track. If you hit the search button and search for ‘Palliser’ it’ll show up in there, tap it and it’ll take you to it 👍
kewl vid. i found this spot randomly while exploring the other week such a kewl spot and waterfalls are u allowed to camp there or need permission? thought the sign on first gate says no camping?
Cheers mate! It’s amazing eh. Such a cool area. You can camp beyond the stream just before the campsite (if that makes sense) - between the first gate and that stream it’s private property to both sides of the route
Cheers! So good to get it out and about. They’re cheap 2.5” ones from Aliexpress. They’re… ok. Very cheap, but have lasted a few months so far - will see how they go. I do like how they look, was hard to find small ones
@OverlandNZTV I reckon! Ok cool thanks for that. I have been looking for something just like this for my D3, without much luck. Will take a look on Aliexpress. Cheers!
Adding them whenever I get the chance to get down there and log more (or someone submits them) - it’s not a quick process. Quite a few have been added recently from our trip earlier this year though

What length/type ratchet strap are you using to tie on the recovery boards ?

Great video, May I know where you got the tray that you used in the video to cook? It sits on the tire. Can you please share the link?
Cheers! I got it from xplora.co.nz/products/tyre-table - it's a super useful bit of kit, have used it a heap
Ohhhh yessss that’s the one
Good to see the soccer mom car on the school run, and you got a man truck for the 4x4 stuff.
And yet the “soccer mum car” would easily outdrive the Disco in most cases
😂😂 Never heard a Disco referred to as a man truck 😂😂
Nice back to basics video loved it bro cheers!!
Cheers mate! It was kinda cool going right back to the basics - chuck a few things in the car and go, hard to beat eh
@@OverlandNZTV sometimes it's that oldskool basics style that creates some of the best memories I've found glad you feel it too man
Where is that camp?
Hey bro nice view, is it a new track ? just could't find it on the app, I am the pro user, is it because the app has not been updated yet? cheers

@@OverlandNZTV Awesome mate thanks, I find it ! definitely in my to do list
Great video. Do you run mud tyres?
Cheers! Na, just aggressive all terrains - not a fan of mud tyres

Nice vid! Good to see the D1 being used 👍
Can I ask what daytime driving lights are you using on your D1?
Cheers

a.aliexpress.com/_mNgTI2I - hard to find basic ones eh. Stedi do some real nice ones but they’re a bit bigger
@OverlandNZTV hey thanks for the link 👍

Awesome!
Cheers!
No such thing as bad weather, just the wrong choice in clothing. Awesome video
Very true! It was awesome really, I love weather like that. Cheers mate!
@@OverlandNZTV I've camped in all sorts of weather. I love it. As long as I'm out doing what I love I don't care about the weather
