I made a bucket hat following a Simplicity pattern but couldnt figure out why the fit was "off." Thank you for explaining hat construction so I can make different kinds of hat! Now I understand and excited to crafting a hat to my liking, outside of a bucket hat. Again, thank you!

I'd suggest making your hat out of paper, then cutting the paper apart to use as your pattern.
