    I so appreciate a video that's straight to the point and explained in simple terms. You nailed it. Thanks so much for making a video for others to learn, truly appreciate it.

    Exactly what I was looking for and after I've already looked at about 7 videos, which for my purpose were useless to me, and this is it!! Only I'm doing a half circle to capture the front of two trees with a downward slope facing the street. My plan is do make the half circle, then make it in a tiered (maybe 2 maybe 3) fashion for the plants to be seen better by the neighbors!! I have two "wagon wheels" of red brick like what you're doing, in my back yard, so I wanted to keep the same theme!

    I did this for my garden, but cut every second brick at an angle to create the curve which provides a much nicer looking circle.

    I've watched multiple videos on how to do this exact job, and this is by far the BEST one on YT!!!

    Nice work, and very informative. I have some slope where the tree I want to edge is located, and my mulch is washing out. I was thinking about using 2 or 3 tiers of brick on the low side, tapering to 1 tier on the high side. I’m not sure if your method will work, or if I’d be better off with retaining wall blocks.

    That was great. Thank you. Would be super cool if those bricks were all individually painted with designs and different colors.

    Looks good; however, Colorado Blue Spruce trees expand very quickly and that brick tree ring will be hidden away under the tree in just a few years. I really like what you did that ran down the fence line. Looks very nice.

      Here in PA the Blue Spruce are all dying from a fungus. Neighbor had 6 in his yard. We only have 1, thank goodness, since it’s about $250 each to have them taken down.

    Hi there, great video tutorial. I have a very large shade tree that I want to encircle with something but cannot decide on what to use. This method looks great but how high can this brick go? I was thinking of doing a wooden octagonal shape but then would have to buy a miter saw to make those cuts plus the wood and didn't want it to rot in 3 years. The canopy of the tree is very very large and will try your clever method of a string and a spray can of paint, really like that. Look forward to hearing your suggestion. Thanks so much, new sub..

    Only thing I would recommend is to cut the bricks through out the circle. I can see you already have the materials

    I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. I want to do this brick edging around a tree but there are a couple large roots that would interfere with the trenching. What could I do? Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

    its effective and sturdy i guess, but could have been far more aesthetically pleasing, especially the last stone, or perhaps use angled cuts throughout the job.

      They will shift around with time. Drive thru your neighborhood and look at those tree rings you will see a lot with bricks and displaced rocks. Lots of sad looking rings that weren't secured.

    My takeaway from this video is wear knee pads and get a heavier mallet.

    • @yellowdog762jb
      @yellowdog762jb 2 роки тому

      +1 On knee pads! I have done edging without mortar and used natural stone. It was some sort of sandstone I think. I have broken a few stones using the same size rubber mallet. Just sayin'. But I doubt one would break many bricks with a rubber mallet of any size.

    I wish i could've seen how much trouble you had with the last brick. Since you didn't show that, I think it must have been a total failure.
