    Your genetics will always limit you and you might not be able to get huge or reach your own personal goals but dont let that discourage you because everybody can reach their own full potential. Everyone should strive to be the best that they can be.

NBA players can be short, they just have to be amazingly athletic/skilled. Which requires amazing athlete genetics and lots of hard work. But make no mistake - the genetics are what control potential in terms of athleticism, so Muggsy can thank his genes for that while simultaneously cursing them for his height

    It's true. I know, at least in bodybuilding, that success is going to be solely determined by your willingness to do what it takes. And I'm not talking about steroids. Talking about working workouts diet sleep physical therapy strategy willpower discipline emotional control sexual activity (with a spouse) meditation prayer supplication FAITH . Right there is a list of fourteen things that EVERYONE can change to improve. Strategy in and of itself will subdivide in to endless ideas for growth or Dat loss or shape or cardio. There is no simple answer. If you are not succeeding something needs to change you need to do what it takes.

It's that when you get competitive and pushing the limits of your body to the absolute maximum the genetics is the only thing that's going to separate you from the other contestants.

      No impossibility is a logical concept. Some things are impossible. Also their not showing any proof that the guys natty. Their just saying hes in prison so he cant take gear which is horse shit. Only true proof is a random drug test. That guy was absolutely on gear in prison. Im an example of someone who ppl think are a fake natty but Im not and ive been radomly tested. Im 5'10 and fluctuate between 220 and 223 and Im at 16ish % bodyfat. Most ppl cant be that big without being 30%+ bodyfat. But 5'8 260 is equal to 5'10 275 which if hes even remotely not obese is not naturally achievable unless ur the chosen one. It is more likely hes on gear than natural.

He said there was an article in a mag called life extension that claimed genes can be switched on and off by work habit and food intake. • @MrDrewhamish
    @MrDrewhamish 11 років тому

    Your friend who is huge after coming out of prison > The reason for this is that when people are incarcerated they are entering a dangerous environment, life threatening etc, so their body responds to this environment by producing physiological responses such as increased hormone production etc to protect themselves..I.e. get bigger/stronger. People in 9-5 jobs in offices are not in the environmental situation which naturally enables their body to produce greater hormone output.

    everyone got muscles and can get big and strong - just follow three simple rules -
    1. eat right
    2. workout hard
    3. sleep tight
    genetics doesn't stop you from making gains and getting stronger.

  • @Nuth34d
    @Nuth34d 10 років тому +17

    Absolutely everyone can gain muscle, genetics determine: shape, thickness, firmness and size/ mass, anyone can build a fair muscle mass and look good, don't believe that just because you were a lanky skinny guy your entire life theres absolutely no hope for you, if youre skinny and tall that automatically means you have a fast metabolism, which is a great thing, just train right, go for the pump, brake down the muscle and then repair it with a decent diet, and just eat alot more overall, height packed with size makes you look like a tank.

  • @HerculesTAK
    @HerculesTAK 11 років тому

    I agree on the topic of Genetics. Short calves won't become long/full calves. Genetics includes everything from recovery ability to muscle density, strength etc. However, you "can" build a good physique if you apply yourself. On overtraining; Also, small joints don't mean small bones. Humbly, large muscle bellies make joints look small; but a weak frame will never carry a great deal of muscle. Arnold had huge bones, but a small waist. So you need that rare X Frame combination.

    1 - mugsy bogues is 5' 3'', so unless that's the unofficial cutoff, being short itself doesn't necessarily mean you can't be in the nba. 2 - being locked up in no way prevents inmates from having access to drugs.

    • @Bezemkast333
      @Bezemkast333 10 років тому

      Its possible but highly unlikely and will you just accept the fact that some people have insane genetics. Its like the tallest person in the world, he is the only one of 6/7 bilion people on earth who has those genetics and that is EXACTLY the same for muscle building.

    • @iwishiweregay
      @iwishiweregay 10 років тому +1

      right, it is possible. that's my point. they stated it isn't. bogues was talented despite his height. so i don't know what you're arguing. i never said and i'm not saying that people don't have a great degree of genetic variability. of course they do. that's a fucking moot point.

  • @BigBadOzBoyMark
    @BigBadOzBoyMark 9 років тому +1

    Genetics refers to bone structure, the length of your muscle bellies, natural body type.
    Ideally your shoulders should be wider than your hips, your muscles will attach as low down as possible - biceps close to elbow, same for triceps, lats attach down closer to your navel, calves closer to your ankles than your knees. What you're looking for is long muscle bellies. If you have all of the above, you have great genetics for bodybuilding. Regardless, you can still make great improvements with some consistent effort and determination. Genetics does not refer to that extra 20 kilos of additional muscle mass that you will not obtain by natural means.....

    Everything you both say is true. I spent 13 weeks in Marine boot camp with every type of body and genetics and all the did was break us down day after day with hours and hours of calisthectics. We had no drugs at all but yet about there was a 1 or 2 genetic monster in about every 350 of us that looked like bodybuilders, with huge muscles and small waist. That is when it was clear to me about genetics, and in the 10 years I stayed in the Marines I trained and saw many of them. God honest truth.

    Many hormones you can't really control (like leptin or myostatin) and even the ones you can there's more to it than just the hormone itself. For example the amount of androgen receptors you have in your muscles will determine how you respond to steroids, which is why some people need a little and some people need a lot.

    When broaching the down & dirty of bodybuilding a really good book to read, if not the best is "Muscle, The Confessions Of An Unlikely Bodybuilder" by Samuel Wilson Fussell. In the book, the author covers EVERYTHING. And his experience is all first hand knowledge. In the book he mentions how Tom Platz overcame poor genetics, through sheer hardcore training. Yet still did not possess the aesthetically pleasing structure or frame that Rich talks about.

    Then as you get a good strong foundation and hit plateaus, keep increasing the caloric surplus at a safe amount so you don't 'spill over' into getting alot of fat, and increase the meals to 8-10 a day when you get bigger. The meals can be easy if some are meal replacements like protein shakes. That can count as a meal, and the meals don't have to be HUGE, the portion sizes are usually smaller than a normal meal you think of.

    My natural mile time was over 9 min and I had a very slow metabolism and a high body fat percentage. I've cut my time it in half in less then 2 years. I sped up my metabolism and lost the weight with dieting and I don't plan on ever stopping. I can tell you from personal experience that genetics can be overcome. And yes, i am fucking crazy.

    It seems logical, people's bodies respond to their environment pretty well.

    Even here rich looked way better then before the end. He maybe would have been okay if he stopped getting bigger from here even though he was still big and using injections of whatever but it got way bigger between here and his death. I really miss him rip king

    I prefer to think that hard work gives better results for everything than genetics.

    Correct. The opposite is true. In stressful roles as you say cortisol goes up..big inhibitor of muscle building. And naturally you are not in a fight or flight situation in the office, so your body is not freaking out and protecting itself (to an extreme state).

    You can only complain about genetics if you put in a year straught of ultra hard training 6-7 days a week, eating proper food non stop and keep stacking the exponential gainz.
    If you have a fast metabolism you're blessed because you have to only eat more and everything looks big because of your smaller joints.

    that's true, Rich was talking about mind of matter in the previous video and in this video he seems let genetics let it be a determining factor. Sure some guys can build faster than others but I think just about anyone can develop an impressive physique if they put their mind and body to it.

    I am same exact way! LOL Trying to cut is ridiculous hard, but lifting heavy and eating and growing comes easy. Hard to find that balance.

    Very true, but the ability to grow muscle/ lose fat will not separate 2 bodybuilders. The genetics of muscle shape, bone structure, skin thickness..etc is not changed by drug use.

    Can you get Rich Piana to talk more about his training routine philosophy about changing his body parts trained every week? I heard him mention that he changes what body part he is going to train on a day to day basis and that next week his body parts trained will be completely different from the week previous.
    For example if he trained chest on Monday, he may train back next Monday depending on what he feels needs improvement or what is still feeling sore.
    I am very interested to learn more!
