This is why Porsche made the fabulous 911R! Pure driving paradise on some amazing roads thanks to joining Porsche Ultimate at the Col de Turini. With a screaming 4 litre flat-6 mated to the manual gearbox, and with only 991 built, the 911R was designed for the proper emotive driving experience, something it delivers in spades. Could it get any better?
I watch these occasionally out of boredom and curiosity but this one for some reason seems to rise above the kind of casual "selfie" style of auto vlog I expect from your very competent UA-cam account. The R is an automobile I admire for its bare simplicity and focus on the driving experience. The conversations you've been having with us seem to be entering a more mature phase. Thanks for this post.
love your indepth and enthusiastic car reviews. Very new complicated car that achieves a fantasy retro feel. This car might owe its existence to what singer and its competitors do with older Porsches
Shmee150 Maybe Doug Demota got the idea from you!? If that was the case then THANK YOU. I love his reviews. Maybe you could inspire him to do a Chiron or something next! It took me a while to warm up to your Brittish personality but I'm really coming around. In America, you would be considered metrosexual.
Talking about nimble fast and a work of art sports car?! This 911R ticks the box.... The looks of it, the rims it has, the power and technologgy combined together by Porsche is just perfect. Now all you need is a good red wine to finish your day!
Thoroughly enjoyed that video Tim. Great review of the car. Audio was good, content was good and the car was good. And nice photo at the end of the video. Well done.
Hi Tim, I've been waiting for this 991 r's review for so long and finally that moment has arrived!! So Thank you a lot Tim !! We can utterly say that this car is not lacking of power as the "riva" of yesterday!
Utterly, utterly amazing Tim, Polizei green, very nice sound, 500 hp awesome, I like it so much , thanks for sharing Shmee 😎😲😲😲😜😛😂😛😜😛😂😛😜 emotion in your voice 😲😲😲😲
Never been a Porsche fan, growing up in the 80`s, the 911 models always had a reputation of danger with the engine at the rear. A car for only those who seemed to gel with it. That being said they seemed to have made them much safer to drive and this 911 R looks simply stunning in my eyes.
Good morning, I'm from Brazil. I watch your videos daily I think it's cool, very well explained everything about the vehicle I love the PORSCHES but in Brazil it's very difficult and very expensive to have one but have a giant passion for the porsche and everything that is a car and my passion without control alive for the love of Car, congratulations, all the best and always keep hugs.
Great video! I was thinking the other day how I was most interested in visiting Paris in lieu of other areas of France but I stand corrected. I hadn’t thought of the potential driving experience. Until then, I’ll live vicariously through you, Schmee!
2 days ago I went to the circuit in Zandvoort (Netherlands) and there was a 911R parked up. I saw the white car with the red stripes, and I was like: "this kinda looks like the car shmee just made a video about". So I went up to the car and looked inside to see if it was a 6 speed manual, and it was. So I looked at the back and I saw the 911R badge. That was the first time I ever recognised a Porsche's type xD
Ahh that video brought up a lot of good memories! Coincidentally I drove the same roads (Col de Braus & Turini) 2 months ago with Porsche in the new GTS =)) stopped at the same car park the video starts I have to admit after being back down I've had it with the hairpins for the moment :P I think there are more than 100 of them, like too much of your favorite dish. Weather was also rainy & cold (maybe you remember that time, you were in South of France too during this time with Seb in his house I believe).
nlorant99 just like the bmw did with their Csl model to save a few pound in weight that'll have a big impact on the performance I'm sure 🤔 and a nav isn't particularly a comfort feature, nothing soft and luxurious about it, just an everyday standard item so I wouldn't see that as a problem myself, saves having to distract yourself with your phone & Google maps or Apples version if you use that
nlorant99 yep this is your opinion just like I have my opinion, that's why there's optional extras you aren't forced to have what I want like I'm not forced to have it how you'd want, maybe id want this exactly how it was but my idea of a driver dream would be to have a nav as standard for on today's roads, I don't have one built in currently so maybe that's why I'd want that option that's all, you don't have to tick this box
nlorant99 Not every one has a sense of humour either, if I paid for this I could do what ever I liked If I wanted this fitted I'm sure the police wouldn't stop me except from yourself, I don't take no for an answer 👍
Just yesterday I watched the video from Doug Demuro, and I fell more in love with this car, and I think it's worth every cent, the 911r have the best from both the old and new school, that manual gearbox with the best of the modern technology, that manual transmission it's something supercar automakers should consider to do more often, that system have no reason to be replaced or to be taken as something from the past.
does having no ac really make any modern car a better driving experience i can never figure that out. Besides that everyone who drives this car loves it i see you feel that way also
Shmee you should do a video on a Singer now, since the 911r and the singer are similar in price now, around 500k US. Love to see that, and hear your thoughts on which car you would prefer.
Oh, what an incredible car! I reckon you should have bought one, even if you were to hold it for a year and sell it after. But great video mate, a truly incredible car. Still waiting for the AMG GT R though... ;) Take care.
I would want A/C and nav to be honest, the extra weight is easily offset by a more usable drive. That said,it must be an epic car as every review I have watched heaps praise on it.

It will cost 1 Million in 20 years....
+patrick houchins lol
You guys don't think this was already filmed a few days ago xD
What this was not live? I am shocked!
+Shmee150 wow
The best way to do the Tour de France, in style and no peddling. Nice job Tim, cheers.
Ha! I 100% agree with you
Shmee150 Those hairpins are tight!
you forgot to give it a dougscore
Mufaro Maruzani id say 48
too expensive
Mufaro Maruzani It's already 66/100, like Daddy DeMuro said
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

That's bucket list material right there!
Tell me about it! Truly epic day out thanks to Porsche Ultimate
thedownshiftchannel on my bucketlist is driving the donkervoort D8 GTO
thedownshiftchannel 2nd best porsche in recent memory, absolutely.
Its_Squeezy that would certainly be exciting!
tommihommi1 agreed! A homage to that visceral driving experience from the past we all talk about!
An incredible drivers car! Love that Porsche is making stuff like this in the day and age of full automation!
love your indepth and enthusiastic car reviews. Very new complicated car that achieves a fantasy retro feel. This car might owe its existence to what singer and its competitors do with older Porsches
what a coincidence, doug did a Video on this car yesterday
I thought that was quite funny given this was of course planned in beforehand
Shmee150 Maybe Doug Demota got the idea from you!? If that was the case then THANK YOU. I love his reviews. Maybe you could inspire him to do a Chiron or something next! It took me a while to warm up to your Brittish personality but I'm really coming around. In America, you would be considered metrosexual.
Also, the version that Doug reviewed was a higher spec. It had navigation, steering wheel controls etc.
Who is Doug Demota and what is "Brittish"?
+The Real Snoop Dog metrosexual?
Talking about nimble fast and a work of art sports car?! This 911R ticks the box.... The looks of it, the rims it has, the power and technologgy combined together by Porsche is just perfect. Now all you need is a good red wine to finish your day!
this car makes my dingle tingle.
Thoroughly enjoyed that video Tim. Great review of the car. Audio was good, content was good and the car was good. And nice photo at the end of the video. Well done.
One of the best cars you could take on those amazing roads.
Hi Tim, I've been waiting for this 991 r's review for so long and finally that moment has arrived!! So Thank you a lot Tim !! We can utterly say that this car is not lacking of power as the "riva" of yesterday!
Everyone who reviews this car loves it. 911R must be special.
911 R and Cayman GT4 - Best Drivers cars of this generation
I think the new 911 GT3 with the manual gearbox is pretty nice too, and it's not the same price...
PaulBd78 depends how many people spec the manual, and if it's as good a driving experience as the two unmentioned
Shmee GINGER TEETH 150 the ariel atom barely is a car, and rain can really rain on your parade.
Shmee GINGER TEETH 150 the ariel atom is a car sized go karts
CarreraGT add GT3 Touring with LWB’s and PCCB’s .... epic
That along with the 2012 Cayman R are special vehicles. Love them.
Congrats on getting that experience!
Oh the enthusiasm, so nice to hear. Safe to say that you liked the 911R! Great review. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I haven't seen you this excited in a long time.
Yep, since the last video!
Utterly, utterly amazing Tim, Polizei green, very nice sound, 500 hp awesome, I like it so much , thanks for sharing Shmee 😎😲😲😲😜😛😂😛😜😛😂😛😜 emotion in your voice 😲😲😲😲

It comes full circle with this color in the Newer 992 GT3 RS
Gotta love the shade of blue on the GTS in the background

Geoffrey Supercars but it is called "my english is not the yellow from the egg".

Hi schmuys I'm Gee!
Beautiful piece of machinery right there
Great video! I was thinking the other day how I was most interested in visiting Paris in lieu of other areas of France but I stand corrected. I hadn’t thought of the potential driving experience. Until then, I’ll live vicariously through you, Schmee!
One of my favorite cars on this channel🚗😍

What a car!Good Video!
I love Porsche and I will have a Porsche 911 soon
He's always shmeeing in the beginning of every episode
Love the colour scheme.
This is the Porsche that I want. This is what is missing in the modern day sports car.
Nice job, as always, Tim!
For me, maybe best car ever made. Absolutely perfect spec.
NM... would have added air conditioner.
9.400km on the clock 🤘🤘
Beautiful machine
What a great experience to drive the 911R ! Just love that car.
Loves the driving experience and the gearbox. Orders a GT3 with Oppamatik...
I felt like I was there along with you. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
I would love to own one some day. What a car!

Great video Tim, love that sound!!
Love a good Porsche enthusiast!
Want Want Want Want! Great video Che-e-e-e-ers buddy
Shmee = King Button Down
Watched Doug Demuros video on this model yesterday, one he drove had the stereo and air conditioning though. Said it was best 911 he's ever driven.
Ahh that video brought up a lot of good memories! Coincidentally I drove the same roads (Col de Braus & Turini) 2 months ago with Porsche in the new GTS =)) stopped at the same car park the video starts

WoW one of my favorite cars.
Best rear quarter on any car, ever.
Its a thing of beauty!
I LOVE this car...love it..
THIS CAR IS EPIC
lovely car
Nice review - thanks, do they make this in right hand drive ?
Yes, RHD cars were available
Shmee150 you better get your gt3 in manual
He's going for the PDK as the manual ones have extremely long waiting lists.
Michael noooo
Was behind one exactly like that yesterday 18/09/22 in Edinburgh - maybe it was silver - still ragged my FR Leon just to hear it more
Amazing car! But...that Light blue GTS at the beginning...wow
Do you think that this car's value is going to drop since the new gt3 is offered with a manual transmission?
THINKS TIM AND CREW U HAD ME SCARD LIKE I WAS SETTING IN THE SEAR BESIDE YOU.
Drinking game - have a drink every time he says "911R"
Can I join?
dfggvv hehdbdb rjdj
Have a drink every time he buys a new car, fall of your seat before 7 pm ;)
So nice, that GTS
The best part is from 0:00 to 23:04
Zisogiannis I totally agree😂
Wow didnt expect that 201 mph top speed!
Hey Tim! Awesome car and video. One thing though...what glasses are those? They look fantastic.
Well for starters I'd still want aircon and nav as standard 😀👍
nlorant99 just like the bmw did with their Csl model to save a few pound in weight that'll have a big impact on the performance I'm sure 🤔 and a nav isn't particularly a comfort feature, nothing soft and luxurious about it, just an everyday standard item so I wouldn't see that as a problem myself, saves having to distract yourself with your phone & Google maps or Apples version if you use that

Shmee was a bit vague in this video. So, did he like the car or not!??
LOL #ilovedit
does having no ac really make any modern car a better driving experience i can never figure that out. Besides that everyone who drives this car loves it i see you feel that way also
I'd have AC every time
I freakin' love those seats.
Amazing car; removing the AC whilst keeping cupholders and such however, is just silly and will have virtually zero impact on performance.
the noise is so roar and visceral
Sounds much better then a GT3-RS
Porsche this Porsche that! What about that gorgeous Aygo lurking next?!!!
I'm watching him since 4000 subs
Drive it like you stole it!! Wicked car; insane market price, but what a daily driver.
Not the world's easiest daily that's for sure, it makes you work
Fortunately, I live in the mountains with many roads like these; lots of daily fun! I'd bet this car is a riot in the snow....;-)
My favourite car of the now, but will the new GT3 Gen. 2 better it at list price?
Shmee you should do a video on a Singer now, since the 911r and the singer are similar in price now, around 500k US. Love to see that, and hear your thoughts on which car you would prefer.
My favorite car.
hi Shmee.... what's your next supercar in ur mind ?
The next to arrive is the AMG GT R and then after that is the Porsche GT3
Shmee150 love your videos.....
Perfect car for such roads!
YES!
7:09 why would the car have automatically blipped an upshift 🤔?
The one Doug Demuro reviewed had a navigationsystem and automatic climatecontrols though.
Oh, what an incredible car! I reckon you should have bought one, even if you were to hold it for a year and sell it after.
But great video mate, a truly incredible car. Still waiting for the AMG GT R though... ;)
Take care.
I would want A/C and nav to be honest, the extra weight is easily offset by a more usable drive.
That said,it must be an epic car as every review I have watched heaps praise on it.
Great Review! P.S. Please use the camera angles like at 13:38 more often.
What a great car...
gReat video.
I find it fascinating how they get that much power from a six cylinder engine
