Seems most people are happy with there smart phone screens and 1080p monitors. 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks for the review Captain!

4, 5, and 6. I thank you again for all the work you put into this comparison. I have the Mini 2 and the Mini 3 Pro and my marriage probably could not withstand the addition of a Nano +. I bought a Nano+ a few weeks ago, based mostly on the strength of the still camera (gauged from one of your earlier reviews), the lack of geofencing, and my experience with the Evo 1. I tried the 50Mp mode and compared it to a shot in 12Mp mode from the same spot. They were very close, but the 12Mp shot seemed to have just the barest amount more clarity than the JPG, plus giving me a RAW file as well. I see no point in using the 50Mp mode if it doesn't offer greater detail and clarity. My first drone was a Mini 1, which I knew would be the learning experience and I wasn't fully pleased with the camera in less than perfect conditions. Then I got the Evo 1, which I love, but it was too big for my needs. (I ride a bicycle and travel a lot for work, so portability is important) I think this Nano will get a lot of usage.
I should mention that there is next to no difference between the DJI Mini 3 Pro 12 megapixel and the 48 megapixel, which tells me DJI is using a 12 megapixel sensor and dividing the pixels into 4. Using a 12 megapixel photo on either the mini 3 or Nano+ gives the best results.

Hola, Nice work on the video presentation’s, parts one through six, showing the differences between the DJI mini 3 pro and Autel Evo Nano plus. Bob 😎🤙🏼🇵🇷
Steve: I've been watching your series again as I have a Nano+ Premium coming my way. I should have it one day next week. So I appreciate all your work on this set of videos. It looks like Autel is still horrible on tracking as they have always been. But I don't use that feature a lot so it will be fine as I'll use it for short videos and pics in the air. Thanks again and I hope you're staying warm.
I can see the difference. The nano+ has better image over all. I use a dji and I think it's short sighted. One thing you didn't go into is lens flare. As my dji suffers from that. One thing I would have been interested in seeing if the nano+ had lens flare. Pitty that they don't shoot in raw would be better for Adobe premier.
There is a HUGE difference between the DJI Mini 3 Footage vs the Nano+, in fact the Nano+ footage looks better in dynamic range in luma, chroma and definition, if you watch in a 4K and 8k television you can see how better the Nano+ produce the video. DJI uses cheap lens and Autel away better lens. and by combining the RYYB filters it will produce better video in all areas from chroma, luma and definition. You are buying a flying camera and everything else is secondary. When I show some of the best Mavic 3 Cine video from UA-cam vs the Nano+ footage in public everyone was saying the same, thing, the Nano+ was away better than the Mavic 3 Cine videos. So, if an over $5000.00 dollars drone does not film better than the Nano+, what do you think the Mini 3 is against the Nano+? But don't take my words for it, watch this video in a 4k or 8k television: ua-cam.com/video/WWdROenBDjQ/v-deo.html and than any Mavic 3 cine video. You will see that the Nano+ produces better video. And this is not an opinion.
Just got a Mavic air2s for $500 so I want to upgrade my mini 1, with the money I’ve saved on the air2, to an up to standard sub 250g drone. The mini 2 is a beast but I feel it’s updated. Both m3 and nano aren’t compatible with Autonomous orthomosiac software, whereas the mini2 is, but oh well. The nano+ fly more bundle is currently on sale (Black Friday) for $700 so I think I’ll get that instead of the m3, then pick up the m3 right before the FAA’s RiD rolls out next year
Hubsan & EXO drones fall in the #3 category after DJI & Autel thus not an item to compare in this review. I do have an indoor/outdoor review of all 3 drones (DJI/Autel/Hubsan) on my channel that will give you the info you’re looking for.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks for your fast reply, I saw that video. Yet the Hubsan cost less 100$ or more and have all of the features . So for this reason I think you (as the lead channel of drons) should give to your viewers the whole picture.
I just saw these glasses on youtube and thought they would be great for the DJI Mini2 they are called the Nreal Air AR Glasses Can you look into this for me thanks
Steve, Costco has the DJI mini 3 pro for $799.99 CDN, 2 batts, 5 sets props etc and their 2 year warranty and phone support! It has the phone controller not the suit in screen! Where do you get the Autel? Thanks
greetings from Ireland.thank's for this series of video's Steve.I have the nano+ and think it has ended up a great little drone, would be nice if Autel would offer an upgraded controller option in the way that Dji do.love your videos.......dave.🙂
Third?lol always liv your multi part review/vs videos a great set. My vote is for mini 3 only thing is I can't afford it. I'm still flying the original mini. But can't wait till they become more affordable. I really think I would love a mini 2 though. I love the pluses from mini 1
The MANTIS G came on the market much too late and by the time it did, it was no longer relevant. I have one and I believe I flew it all of 3 times, as I had other drones to fly that were more capable.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I remember watching your video on it and that's what got me interested .. I had the Mantis Q and was actually kinda pleased with what I was getting from it at the time .. thanks for responding .. I guess Ill go back and watch your video on it again and see what I missed
Thanks for best rewiev.. To what does the nano plus owe the perfect clarity in photos? Is the sharpness increased with software or is it due to the effect of pdf+cdaf?
Yeah, I want one for Christmas. Haven't flown a drone in years, but I catch everything you're throwing down. You teach us, you show us. It's time to order the mini 3. I want it all. DJI controller, fly more, hard case. Thanks man! Amazon, B and H Photo, DJI Official web site? Where do you recommend to buy from? 🤔😃
I buy all my DJI products on the date they are released, which means I buy them direct from the DJI store. Since the Mini 3 has been out for awhile you can buy it at your local hobby store or big box electronics store like BestBuy, or for best price, usually off of Amazon.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 just an fyi, Best Buy has been doing good matching the price to Amazon. If not offered better sales than Amazon lately. Where Amazontruly shines, in the drone department, is used drones. You can get real lucky and pick up an “acceptable” condition drone that really has never been flown (happened to me, they marked 50% off just bc the packaging was scratched slightly)
Great comparison! I live in the great state of Texas, with a bit higher temps than Canada.... do you think that this would be a significant issue for the DJI? I really feel that the cameras are nearly the same, but the function in wind, speed, and tracking is better with the DJI.... Temperature may be my biggest issue....maybe?? What do you think?
As long as it does not get really hot outside and the DJI drone is not ventillated. If that happens, it will shut down. So don't let it get hot in your car or in direct sunlight before you fly.
quick question, I'm getting into fpv and I'm wondering if I bought a Emax Tinyhawk III RTF Kit would I be able use the radio and goggles with a IFlight Nazgul5 V2 Analog BNF/PNP Quad?
You could use the FPV goggles with any analog FPV drone. The remote is designed to connect to EMAX drones. The remote is not an RC Hobby remote, you’d have to get yourself a pro 4 in 1 chip remote like a Radiomaster TX16S, Zorro, TX12, Jumper T18, etc.
My skills in flying and photography are way more enhanced then your average newbie consumer so my opinion is irrelevant as it would not make any sense to a beginner as my needs are far different for my skill level.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 but a lot of pro's are saying the gap between high end and these prosumer drones are diminishing. Surely you don't fly an Inspire 2 x 7 or the DJI M30 for daily footage?
@@lifestapestry2968 Those same people say the same about cell phones. You won’t see a wedding photographer using a cell phone & charging big bucks and you won’t see a professional making a living using a drone with a fixed aperture, plastic lens & minimal ISO. GPS Camera drones are improving in the sense that anyone (including your grandma) can fly them and snap photos and video and have it automatically look good.
I like the summary comment "A cellphone thrown up into the air taking videos and pictures"... and based on the price, it an iPhone Pro up in the air taking pictures. FF'ing into the future where drones have their own sim card transmitting their HQ videos\pictures live to a cloud server. Sounds like a joke, but it won't be in a few years. :)
I’m just wondering what a difference it would make if you used some nd filters on both of them, would that help either one to not get blown out in that bright sunshine?
great video! Do you know how many stops of dynamic range with different color profiles? Like normal compared to cine-d which kind of like Log but not nearly as flat. Thanks!
That is something I don't believe anyone knows because in order to get such info one must test in a controlled state, and most UA-camrs have no such gear.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 If I do purchase the drone I'd be willing to use my Arri Alexa dynamix range test chart that i use with our Arris and cheaper Canon c700's etc
Overall, The Nano+ seemed to oversaturate just a tad more than the dji, but they are still so similar, I'm not sure either one is a clear winner or loser on UA-cam. I know you put hours of work into these videos and I appreciate that. If you ever got the Lite+, will you compare it and the Nano+ in this type of detail? Enjoy your day Steve.
Something pointed out by another reviewer when it comes to DJI and Autel camera drones is the saturation and clarity can be somewhat subjective. In Davinci Resolve it's easy to add or subtract saturation to get the desired look. I tend to stay away from 'sharpening'.
They look great on both drones. The 48 Megapixel on the DJI drone is a bit of a gimmic because all they have done is take the 12 megapixel sensor and divided each pixel by 4, hence you get the same result in 48 as you do in 12. Autel has done something similar but added enhancements which don't look as good in their 50 megapixel version.
Since these are non professional drones, they have to use correction software at 12 megapixels as well. These drones are designed to be point & shoot cameras, like cell phones are.
After watching your videos comparing the DJI Mini 3 Pro and the Autel EVO Nano+, I think I would prefer the DJI. However, due to current U.S. legislation and the effort Autel is committing to try to get on the Pentagon's Blue sUAS Program, I'm starting to think it may be a better tactical decision to purchase Autel over DJI. I own the original Mavic Pro and it pains me to think that I may not be able to legally fly it (recreationally) if recently introduced legislation passes. Autel may be the better choice going forward due to the political landscape (which of course, saddens me).
Not possible because the DJI by default has more red on all channels. Meaning that if you add blue to a DJI drone footage they will look like the Autel color science. That is how you color grade an Autel footage to look like a DJI! You add Orange 🍊 to it. Like he said, your device may not be calibrated or the colors are way off. But don’t take my words for it, just screen capture any DJI and Autel automatic footages from camera and you will see that ALL DJI drones have red on all channels by default. That’s why you should always film a color chart in Gray, Not white to color correct the DJI footage so they look natural, same goes to Autel. Never film anything without filming a gray card.
@@driewiel The drone is orange. But the colors are less orange than the DJI footage. What you are seeing is more dynamic in colors that all DJI drones lacks. Remember to never trust your eyes, look at the color parades/wave form or just take a screen capture of ANY DJI footage that has not color corrected. You will see for instance that the RGB has red in all colors, meaning that that they produce a warmer colors. Your device may not be calibrated too. Remember that colors are an illusion done by the software, they do not exist, that’s why devices have color spaces so many devices can look the same in different platforms, but not all platforms have the color space right. That’s why if you ever buy a TV or monitor calibrated them. Here is a tip: You can turn the Nano+ to look like the Mavic 3 Cine color but better, but you can not turn the Mavic 3 Cine to look like the Nano+ colors because it lacks the dynamic range in luma, chroma and definition. Think as a print file, the Nano+ is 300DPI and the Mavic 3 Cine is a 72DPI, you can not create missing information from a 72DPI to look like a 300DPI. The 300DPI image has more definition and data.
They're "Talking Dogs". The thing about talking dogs is to be amazed that they speak at all, and not be overly critical because they tend to mumble. Absolutely gobsmacked at where the technology has gone in a very few years. Now anyone can put something in the air and get good results. Unfortunately, this has been the case, Governments have Taken Notice and are now highly regulating an activity that was on the far fringe and basically ignored (R/C flier here since around 1975). No free lunches.
For me I have to look at the compatibility of each drone with professional software like Dronedeploy, Dronelink, Litchi, these software's does not just expand the capabilities of each drone, but may have a a MAJOR influence in your purchase decision. For example Litchi allows the MINI 3 Pro to fly WITHOUT GEO FENCING. each of these software require the drone manufacturer to release a SDK kit the historic speed of the release of the SDK kits is of extreme importance. Currently it is taking about a YEAR or so after the drone is released before the SDK kit is released by the drone manufacturer. This is too long by most peoples standards.
Litchi is NOT available for mini 3 pro right now. If it was it does NOT ignore geofencing- that is built onto the FIRMWARE OF THE DRONE. It only depends on the app for unlock- the rest is all on the drone
Mini 3 has 10 bit in D-cinelike while autel has only 8bit image. Really don't know why you haven't mentioned that, because for color grading 10 bit is way better
Nikita, I think you have spent too much time on forums listening to people repeating stuff they really know little about. The 10 bit in the Mini 3 has no relevance because you are starting with a tiny sensor, fixed aperture, minimal ISO and plastic lens, so you can't make gold & diamonds out of mud no matter how hard you try. If these were quality cameras in the professional world, with interchangeable lenses, then 10 bit over 8 bit would make a big difference.
@@nickyumsh the same, MP4 videos edit like 10 bit with the Nano+. I don't believe your initial comment about 10 bit v 8 bit has much weight with these 2 drones.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I don't get that info from some forums, I got this from real world experience shooting on 10 bit and 8 bit cameras. And can tell you that 10 bit footage is handling much more color grading than 8 bit footage. Some videos shot on mini 3 you can see in my profile, and I think they are a perfect example of how 10 bit matters.
Autel Nano plus - The drone feels 40m for no reason, Autel says :pilot error. Will not be repaired under warranty. Price for repair at Autel higher than for a new drone. No parts available. Autel does not sell parts to customers or independent services . No VAT receipt, asked several times. And Autel removes bad reviews from their website. This one was screenshotted. Bad quality, bad service, no spare parts and review manipulation. Do you want them to have your money?
Estoy viendo en la tv y mejor calidad de vídeo es el nano+, duela a que le duela, pero en seguimiento un desastre ya lo choque y se rayo la lente, ojalá mejoren para la próxima con un mejor procesador
I couldn't help but to notice that your commentary was remarkably biased against the red drone. You pointed out it could rotate in both directions which the other drone can't but really didn't mention that as well as the pictures of the red drone appear to look much better. If you want follower's you'll need to step it up and not weigh in on what you like but the actual facts about different unit's. Clearly the red drone is a better drone at a better price
I have no idea what you are referring to. Also ref your "followers" comment... I have one of the top three largest drone channels. Not sure why you believe you have judged me to be someone lacking in the ability to review drones. Also the "red drone" is called the AUTEL NANO+ and it is suprisingly ORANGE in color. If the device you are viewing videos on is showing ORANGE, then you fall in the catagory I mentioned half way through the video and thus any opinion you have is based on what your device is showing you, hence MY OPINION counts as I have the original.
well I guess I'll stick with my Air 2s, Mavic 2 pro & Zoom. I've flown the mavic 3s all the mini's and still the best flying quad they have is the Mavic 2 Series w smart controller hands down.
now i don't know what i should buy... i really want the avata because of the prop lift system being underneath and the cinewhoop style, but i can't stand that i only get one battery and that motion control instead of a real radio. this nano looks good because it's cheaper and i get 4 batteries if i go that way, but honestly i want to build one so i want to get something from rotor riot and like the skylite, but that little driblet just looks like a bad-ass little quad. so my dilemma is this... now, i am probably gonna buy the rotor riot build anyway this coming friday along with some other drone and i am thinking if i go dji, i get the goggles and digital so i will have analog(with the rotor riot unless i add the dji camera tech to the build, i think) and digital for the future... but if you were in my shoes and could only get two drones on friday(one being from rotor riot) and either the nano+(i'm thinking i like it better than the mini 3) or the avata, what would you get and why?

The nano+ fly more bundle is currently on sale (Black Friday) for $700 so I think I’ll get that instead of the m3, then pick up the m3 right before the FAA’s RiD rolls out next year
Thank you for the video Steve. Very well done mate. Cheers 🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it
On my Gear the Nano+ Smokes the DJI in the camera department. 8 core pc, 43 inch monitor. Looks the same on a 55 inch in the other room.
What about the Hubsan zino mini pro? Why not compered them all those three?
Hubsan & EXO drones fall in the #3 category after DJI & Autel thus not an item to compare in this review. I do have an indoor/outdoor review of all 3 drones (DJI/Autel/Hubsan) on my channel that will give you the info you’re looking for.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Thanks for your fast reply, I saw that video. Yet the Hubsan cost less 100$ or more and have all of the features . So for this reason I think you (as the lead channel of drons) should give to your viewers the whole picture.
Again ❤ Great Video.
Hey Steve can you do mini3 pro vs mavic 3 straight out of camera video comparison
I just saw these glasses on youtube and thought they would be great for the DJI Mini2 they are called the Nreal Air AR Glasses
Can you look into this for me thanks
Steve, Costco has the DJI mini 3 pro for $799.99 CDN, 2 batts, 5 sets props etc and their 2 year warranty and phone support! It has the phone controller not the suit in screen! Where do you get the Autel? Thanks
greetings from Ireland.thank's for this series of video's Steve.I have the nano+ and think it has ended up a great little drone, would be nice if Autel would offer an upgraded controller option in the way that Dji do.love your videos.......dave.🙂
Thanks Dave!
good work
Great video!
Thanks!
Third?lol always liv your multi part review/vs videos a great set. My vote is for mini 3 only thing is I can't afford it. I'm still flying the original mini. But can't wait till they become more affordable. I really think I would love a mini 2 though. I love the pluses from mini 1
Sorry that was supposed to say Luv. Damn spell check
I wish the exo mini was in this matchup
The drone that I cannot seem to find anywhere is that Yuneec Mantis G ... I have looked high and look .. wonder why that drone went nowhere fast?
Everything shown is direct from the cameras with no software tweaks on my part.
I prefer the DJI mini 3 pro because is better and I like the colours to be mor dark and also I like the rc controler😊
Very cool
What is the strange glow when the drone shadow is in the picture, seems to appear around the drone shadow?
All camera drones with a fixed lens and aperture produce this when the sun is to the rear.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Ah, thank you, it looked strange thought it was some internal processing or something.
Pretty darn close for me. 👍👍✌️
So cool 😎
What is the song you play at the end of your videos? It’s been driving me nuts!
It is called LOUD AND CLEAR
quick question, I'm getting into fpv and I'm wondering if I bought a Emax Tinyhawk III RTF Kit would I be able use the radio and goggles with a IFlight Nazgul5 V2 Analog BNF/PNP Quad?
You could use the FPV goggles with any analog FPV drone. The remote is designed to connect to EMAX drones. The remote is not an RC Hobby remote, you’d have to get yourself a pro 4 in 1 chip remote like a Radiomaster TX16S, Zorro, TX12, Jumper T18, etc.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ok thank you
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 so i could get a Emax Hawk Pro BNF and it would be all compatible
Cool
This a great them song.
The best 💯
So, if you had to choose between the two, which one ?
I did not find the images were blown out
great video! Do you know how many stops of dynamic range with different color profiles? Like normal compared to cine-d which kind of like Log but not nearly as flat. Thanks!
That is something I don't believe anyone knows because in order to get such info one must test in a controlled state, and most UA-camrs have no such gear.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 its quite easy but then again im a pixel peeper. Thanks!
I do have a full review of the EVO Lite+ on my channel.
In low light the difference between the 2 drones is easy to see with the Nano+ producing far better imagery.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I know as I watched it months ago when you put it out. But to compare it and the Nano+ head to head could be an eye opener.
Nice compare Captain. How do the 12mp RAW pictures look, without the software correction?
They look great on both drones. The 48 Megapixel on the DJI drone is a bit of a gimmic because all they have done is take the 12 megapixel sensor and divided each pixel by 4, hence you get the same result in 48 as you do in 12. Autel has done something similar but added enhancements which don't look as good in their 50 megapixel version.
Since these are non professional drones, they have to use correction software at 12 megapixels as well. These drones are designed to be point & shoot cameras, like cell phones are.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Wow, even the RAW files?
@@briandolson2941 Yup, as noted in the vid they are not “true RAW files” because all types of correction has been applied.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 That's pretty misleading on the part of both companies 😲
After watching your videos comparing the DJI Mini 3 Pro and the Autel EVO Nano+, I think I would prefer the DJI. However, due to current U.S. legislation and the effort Autel is committing to try to get on the Pentagon's Blue sUAS Program, I'm starting to think it may be a better tactical decision to purchase Autel over DJI. I own the original Mavic Pro and it pains me to think that I may not be able to legally fly it (recreationally) if recently introduced legislation passes. Autel may be the better choice going forward due to the political landscape (which of course, saddens me).
nano plus is more clear
I think the Nano+ looks more orange.
All depends on the device you are viewing it on and the color receptors in your eyes
@@InteractiveDNA I still think the orange Nano+ looks more orange.
@@InteractiveDNA Yes I meant the drone.
Up...!!!
Autel definitely
Double check to make sure litchi is available for the Mini 3 Pro. It usually takes over a year before litchi is available for a new DJI product.
Neither are compatible with Map Pilot Pro. Only the mini 2 is. I suspect an update in the future
Litchi is NOT available for mini 3 pro right now.
If it was it does NOT ignore geofencing- that is built onto the FIRMWARE OF THE DRONE. It only depends on the app for unlock- the rest is all on the drone
From what I have seen, the mini3 has the slight edge, but the Nano+ premium combo for 700 bucks was just a better deal.
Mini 3 has 10 bit in D-cinelike while autel has only 8bit image. Really don't know why you haven't mentioned that, because for color grading 10 bit is way better
From my experience the Nano+ JPEGs edit the same as 10 bit colour, amazing, the camera AI is doing something special with these images.
@@ozstrayapanoramas8610 I talk about video shooting, not stills:)
5:20 The Dji has ''more'' sun in his eyes than Autel. The drones are not in the same spot to make a precise comparison.
The drones are exactly 2 feet apart
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 For example, the DJI has more sun reflections on the landing board than Autel because of the angle of the sun.
Do you believe after updates have released to correct a lot of the errors of the Autel Evo Nano Plus it’ll be the better drone?
All drones from DJI and AUTEL are full of bugs upon release, and over the following year they become really good with very few bugs.
my eyesight must suck, the MiniPro to me looks vastly better, the Autel does display reds better.
i hope this drone gave for me becouse is drone i wish wont for this drone
Estoy viendo en la tv y mejor calidad de vídeo es el nano+, duela a que le duela, pero en seguimiento un desastre ya lo choque y se rayo la lente, ojalá mejoren para la próxima con un mejor procesador
The price is very near
first
I couldn't help but to notice that your commentary was remarkably biased against the red drone.
The Autel looks artificially oversharpened. It's really a shame
i have both autel sucks way less stable and cheap
well I guess I'll stick with my Air 2s, Mavic 2 pro & Zoom.
If you are a newbie and lost, get a drone from DJI as they are designed for beginners.
wow. prices are getting stupid.
Yeppers. Blame the lame economy of printing money in supply chains.
At least Autel is finally having some decent sales
