One big tip since it was brought up in the video is... If you use steel wire be careful with your stones. Learn what the Mohs scale is. Certain softer stones will get scratched.

I am absolutely thrilled to listen to your tutorials. I live in Marbella, a transplant from California. I love crafts and thought wire wrapping stones (also very into those) would be a fun pastime. I am 71. Your tutorials are very clear . I purchased wire online from Benecreat. It’s copper wire with a color. It says permanently colored wire. I fell in love with your Tree of Life wrapping. I will slowly work with wire to get to that point. Thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge. After this video, I need to purchase some nylon pliers. Warm regards,

I started wire-wrapping about a year ago using some very cheap coated copper & aluminum from Amazon... I eventually ran out of weaving wire, & wound up purchasing some brass from Artistic Wire. I love the color, but it is noticeably harder to work with. This explains why! I know others have commented on this but just wanted to add I go to Lowes and by electrical wire by the ft and it may not say the gauges on there but a lot of them have 10 wires in each length, I just bring my card that I can measure gauges with. I started doing this about 6 months ago and as much as I mess up I can't afford craft wire so I save that like the sterling silver plated for things I know I've mastered. My only problem is the tarnishing and sometimes I love the nice brown hue but other times I want to keep the shiny copper color so on greens and such I try to use Clear fingernail polish which doesn't work all the time but I've also used epoxy resin to coat over some of the bigger pieces and nothing seems to work very well. I seen a website that sells the paint on coating to prevent tarnish or preserve a patina but it is ridiculously expensive for a tiny one ounce bottle.

I should start buying in bulk because I get the smaller spools from Rio Grande and inevitably I use up my 20g more quickly than my 24g or 12g. I'm also hesitant to buy silver because I find it becomes work-hardened more quickly. I would love to have more of that at my disposal, but i'm never sure what quantities of what gauges to buy.

👋 there Barbie!! If u also go to Wire Jewelry.com they have questions/tips of the day blogs. There are very very informative blogs on preventing tarnish on copper and nickel silver wire as well as polishing it! U can type in the question under search or look for questions/tips of the day and type in your question. !! FOR EVERYONE OUT THERE:: there’s a very informative question/tip on using MOP AND SHINE: to prevent tarnish on bare copper, oxidized copper, nickel silver, any base metal wires etc. U won’t believe what you read!!! It’s most definitely a game changer! I myself couldn’t believe it: I looked under my kitchen counter and found a bottle of the mop and shine!! Yippee 😁!! I really really hope that you find it as it will save anyone,(maybe Oxana too😉!!). I’m trying to help u Barbie as well as anyone else who might come across this question as well!! I really really hope that this helps you out!! I’d be interested to hear what everyone has to say about it!! Just an FYI for anyone who tries using clear nail polish as a protective coating: I’d advise you not to::: I tried this early on : in my pieces of wire before and after wire wrapping/ weaving etc. all it did was flake off and mind my cuff still oxidized naturally anyway! So please save yourself some time!! Melissa aka Made With Love 💜By: Mel

At Rio it is $16.80 for 1 pound of raw copper in 26 gauge, which equals to 1,260 ft. So Parawire may be a little cheaper in this case depending on the shipping.
