people in 1940 when hearing the stuka: *”OH SWEET MOTHER MARY MY EARS AHHHHHHHH”* people in 2020 when hearing the stuka siren: “that is the coolest thing ever.”
lol it has a lot to do with what is associated with that noise obviously. When you heard that sound your life was in danger in 1940, today we associate it with bad-ass ww2 movies and hollywood entertainment.
It could bomb my house any day! It makes me just want to dig a tiny bomb shelter and fill it with tiny canned goods and plant a tiny victory garden in my front yard!
It's beautiful. Even though there are no real stukas left flying, it's good to know that with hobbyists like you we can still see them in the sky, although on a far smaller scale.
Wow! Scale RC aircraft are very hard to fly. This pilot shows a lot of skill! Takeoff was wonderful! Smooth application of power and no 'fishtailing' due to excessive torque in to short a time. Nice patterns. First approach wasn't perfect, but the full stop was right on centerline! NICE JOB!!
Such RC planes are mostly scratch builds. You need the original measurements and have to convert them to the scale you want. But there are some blueprints on the internet, just look it up
I have an imitation Stuka Ju-87 siren in my vehicle. It has its own button. It sounds rather realistic. The dear do not respect car horns at all. I blow the regular car horn and the deer may look up and then ignore me. Many times they do not even look up. But when I activate the imitation Stuka Ju-87 dive siren, they run like their lives depend on it. They are more in the air than in the ground. Maybe it is the sound frequencies they are not used to hearing that make them run for their lives. Order you dive siren from ebay today!
Wow, this is so cooool! The takeoff and landing were both smooth, stable and felt very real, and the plane was just beautiful both in close range and high in the sky, albeit the snake painting on the side of plane being not of my personal taste. Overall, an excellent job, and my applauses to the guys who made the awesome model plane. ---- From an admirer of JU-87 Stuka and Hans U. Rudel.
I wish I could tell you where it came from, but I'm not even sure. I did a google search for "Ziroli Stuka Dive Siren" and I guess there was a company called i4c that used to make one but I don't think that company is around anymore. You know, there's a company called model sounds inc. that could probably make something work for you using a sound system. Then, you could use the actual sound from the full size potentially if you can find a sound clip of it.
And this btw is an authentic, albeit a little high pitched, reproduction of the ONLY plane that makes a siren noise when diving. Every movie you see a plane nosediving or crashing and making a howling noise is just a crappy fake. Well done Mr Stuka builder.
A very nice model, looks great and the engine sounds great too! But the siren might still need some work/improvement, sounds a bit too squeeky. But as i already said i freakin love the model you got:D
Dive bomber ,Enemy Dive bomber ,Must have been a terrifying experience hearing the sound of these in WW2 when the Luftwaffe was in its infancy and Infamy,Great model based on the JU87
Unfortunately, the ram air type siren that this has isn’t commercially available anymore. I’ve seen folks make them, but I’m not aware of any that are readily available.
Pilots hated having the siren attached because it gave them away and slowed them down. But the people on the ground said that when they heard it, it sounded like the Stuka was aiming right for them. I’ve been to dozens of aviation museums around the world where the Stuka was used, including Malta, and have yet to see one. It is the Holy Grail of WW2 small artifacts for collectors.
Oh My GOD that has GOT to be the most awesome thing ever!!! This must have taken place in the US or NOT in Europe at least since I know there are all manner of restrictions against the display of the Swastika.
Unfortunately I’m not sure. The one on this model was commercially available at one time, but hasn’t been made for a number of years from what I understand.
Unfortunately, I don't have any information on the siren as this was a model I filmed at an event a few years ago (not my model). My understanding is that it's a true ram air mechanism. But it was made a number of years ago and I don't think they're made anymore.
Dear RC Geek, What is the scale of this beautiful machine, what size engine are you using, and where did you get that beautiful siren? This is what I call scale modeling. Also is it made of balsa and plywood or is it composite?
Well, I can't take any credit for the airplane as I did not build it or fly it in the video. From what I know of the airplane, it was scratch-built from a Ziroli plan from balsa and plywood at about 1/5 scale. Unfortunately, I don't know the engine or the source of the siren and unfortunately the gentleman who owned this airplane passed away a couple years ago, so I'm unable to ask him. I know at one time, someone was making these sirens specifically for this model, but that was quite a number of years ago now.
This is an actually ram air siren that was available at one time. There’s a fan on the right wheel pant that then drives the siren. You can see it on the taxi back. Unfortunately, these particular units aren’t sold anymore.
Awesome, the germans called that sound "The trumpets of Babylon" & it was made thru a special prop if Im not mistaken, I guess you just have the sound comming out of a speaker, thats great. How cool would be be to get a hold of the blueprints for that prop that in RL makes that sound and somehow to reproduce that! Great job!!
I'd recommend trying Legend Hobby (bit.ly/LegendHobby). They have a pre-built stuka that's larger than this one. The stuka in this video was built from a Nick Ziroli plan.
