"Elvis was inventing Elvis, Overflowing with coolness" That is one of the greatest descriptions I have ever heard and awesome that it came from another legends son. Great video series.
Elvis just had that natural charisma that oozed coolness. Very few people have that!! He wore mascara to emphasise the blue in his eyes as well - he told Priscilla to go heavy on the mascara for that reason. Another great vid!
Elvis found the look outside his natural God given handsome looks, from mascara, dove tail combed hair, cloths ,shoe etc. Then the body language on stage and accentuated lyric noises, plus genuine understanding of loving his fans and he really loved his fans and he put everything he had to show his fans that he could love them and care about his fans without them he wouldn't have been all this was created you have to have that fan base and he understood that and he didn't just act like he love the fans he genuinely showed that he cared and loved the fans throughout his whole career thanks again SG Stallings for another great video with Stan Perkins God Bless! And thanks to Stan for telling all of these great stories.
Wow that song Carl wrote for Elvis to sing was awesome I hope Carl recorded it or someone Thank you Billy for the great interview Stan I love the stories you have to tell us,about your dad's time with Elvis and Johnny Cash Your dad was a great artist really did appreciate his music 😀👍❤ Thanks Stan for keeping this history alive God bless you all 😀❤
Alice Milling Yes, Carl did record it (I believe in either 1974 or 1975). It was called "The E.P. Express". Carl performed this also on a 1978 Elvis tribute television special, which was called Nashville Honors Elvis. Both the studio record of the song, plus the t.v. clip of Carl performing the song, were on UA-cam (maybe they still are).
Billy ... Nice video. Enjoyed Stan's recollection of how he and his pretty sister wanted to pitch their Daddy's Carl Perkins song to Elvis. Please ask Stan to stand up next time and sing his Daddy's song all the way through.
This was great, Billy! I was just telling someone in the comments that Elvis was already gorgeous without ANY makeup on. In his Army pictures...no makeup & a shaved head...still gorgeous! How many guys look great with a shaved head 😂 Always love hearing these great stories! Hope you & your family are doing well! God bless you 💙
Billy that was brilliant I love listening to them stories Elvis picking a shirt and lance's for Carl Perkins what a story man invented is on Kaunas call than any call brilliant man the mascara man solid gold name stories respect to you and to Stan thanks
Love the story and most importantly the honesty that he never met him. Sometimes I'm more than a little leery as to what people say since he's not around to contradict it. That being said good grief Billy slow your roll I'm getting nothing done around here since everything stops when I get a notification ;-)
Elvis was smart and had his own style. He didn't follow everyone else's mold, he created his own. Everyone was coping his style and some still do. No one is cooler than Elvis before or since. Men can wear make up too and, make themselves look better too.
I could listen to Stan Perkins all day long. Great voice, and great story teller. I want to thank him for his great interviews, with the King of vlogs, The Spa Guy!!!!!
Stan the Man you & your dad have coolness too. Elvis had that love for music & song. Hrs & hrs listening to quartets. The many records he listened to. His love for dif. types of music. Then he started singing & could not stop... As mentioned he invented himself...for the love of singing & the love for the business & ease he had around other performers & his fans. Total package. Guess Stan sis was married quickly as he says she was beautiful. Hope she is having a blessed life. Stan Perkins is a thinker & can tell Billy is tuned in to this interview. Good stuff. Elvis from rags to riches. Kid from wrong side of the tracks had a dream.
Stan seems like a really nice man.. I appreciate his honesty that he almost met Elvis.. Thanks for another Wonderful video Billy and God Bless❤️ EP Forever💞
Highly enjoyable! Very interesting listening to him recount stories/memories! He keeps the conversation captivating and your audience’s attention. Great series of videos. 💕
Hello from England Its true what other people have said in their comments. Elvis was reinventing himself. The mascara thing. It made him different and he would stand out "in a crowd" This is what i love about those days. What a great guy is Stan. Tells it how it is.
Spa guy you really make me laugh your imogie of you reminds me of superman!! 😅😂😂👍This is brilliant you get some amazing fiitage completely different kind of stuff, really appreciate it 👍🇬🇧🤗very interesting shame he almost met Elvis, bet hes gutted, hes a southerner like Elvis and you, i love the southern drawl, thankyou from the uk 😎🇬🇧👍🤗❤️😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👌I like the imogies sorry about that, i jyst live them if you hadnt noticed😂😂👍
Loved the story about the mascara, but even in his childhood pictures Elvis appears to have dark around his eyes! Always have wondered about that! Great video Spa Guy!!🎶🎵🎶🎶♥️
EXACTLY. I was going to say Elvis LOVED Hollywood. He must have watched scenes over & over. He imulated the things he knew would work for him. He read alot of magazines too. Not bad for a "Hick" and Memphis was such a perfect place to bloom. Lansky offered him exactly what a stylist would. Such a perfect alignment.
Billy my friend, what a great subject and cool, cool guy Stan is. Wonderful video and substantial story teller! You struck gold with this one. Keep at it my friend...
Wow.mascara brush story by Stan Perkins.Saw you singing on youtube Mr Perkins. U have inherited talent fr.your Legend dad Carl Perkins of Blue Suede Shoes fame.
My grandfather went to humes high,he was a few years ahead of Elvis.I asked Him if he remembered elvis he said yes.He said they thought he was funny.they were probably jealous because he got all the girls.
Great stuff, and nice to hear Stan telling these stories. And Stan's singing voice is pretty close to his daddy. Saw them both in Copenhagen way back in 86. Thanks a lot.
Tina from Kansas. You were right I sure enjoyed listening to Stans stories. There was so much I learned I did not know. He is so interesting the way he tells his stories. Thank you I can't wait for more. It's crazy I check 5 or 6 times a day to see if you have put anything on and that's not me . So ? Thanks
LOL.. I put up a new video every Monday morning and Thursday morning on this channel.. Today I am putting up 2 on this channel The Jackson Five and Elvis one to Commemorate MLK Day.. There are many more with Stan but I will spread them out over time.. Thank You for watching..
Elvis knew what he was doing, anything to make him look better really wasn't needed but Elvis created himself like a work of art and it was very enticing to see. Elvis was never fat, he was a beautiful person until the end. It's just really sad we didn't have him longer but we can still enjoy his music and love him for who he was, not what the press tried to create.
Could listen to Stans stories all day thanks for bring them to us. Carls song The E.P.EXPRESS has that authentic old school vibe and would have suited Elvis like a glove but I see it more as a brilliant tribute song. Elvis recorded a song with a similar theme Raised On Rock a few years before so I maybe he'd have been open to a song about his own music.
I just see Stan since last xmas, and it feels like Carl himself... that dialouge between JR Cash and Carl on the christmas album 1972 ( JCash) he told a nice story about Dynamite, and the song when you are 21, is marvellous wow !! :) Mark Holland*
Thank you so much Billy.really enjoyed Stan memories of his Father & Elvis .absolutely captivating .has Stan written any books 📖 I would so like to hear more. 🎸🎤
Awesome interview! In recent years I've become a huge fan of Carl Perkins, a performer who had immense talent. IMO Carl stole the show when he, Jerry Lee, Johnny and Roy Orbison performed the gospel tune "This Train" together on Johnny's show after Elvis passed away.
Another great video-love the interviews with Stan! He was right about Elvis being ostracized and picked on. One guy told me that his parents told him to “walk around” the strange boy with the guitar, and not to associate with him. Everyone had crew cuts back in the day, but Elvis was blazing his own trail..⚡️
I love me some Carl Perkins, Im FROM Memphis so yea that's a REQUIREMENT, .....LOL but Elvis Presley was SO cool, man he could sit on Ice Cream and it wouldnt even melt!!! :P Some time in the mid-1950s..... Mama was a waitress at Colettas cafe there in memphis,TN. and one day the Juke box man came in. Mama asked him if he had any Elvis Presley 45's. He said Yes and she had him put them on Mrs. Colettas Juke Box. Later that day Mrs Coletta came in and heard the records playing.(I believe this was the way mama said it happened)... She said "NO, Yall get that stuff OFF my Juke box. I dont want that stuff playing in here. So they took them off.........a few months later as Elvis got bigger and bigger, Mrs Coletta had them put the records BACK on the Juke box. hahahah I dont know what year(s) this was but it was apparently the era, where Elvis went from Local fame to national fame. :) It reminds us of the time Elvis went to Las Vegas and those people at that time WEREN'T ready for Elvis yet , either!! LOL
Another great video SG. Never had heard of this song Stan spoke about his dad had written. I'm sure that was a let down for him not be able to pitch that song to Elvis also. Thanks to Stan Perkins for great stories of history being made. Also,,in regards to color factor,,I always think of the amount of clothes Elvis bought over his lifetime, and EACH were cool! Have you ever seen a dud/flat picture of Elvis. nada. I wish i woulda been born half as good lookin' as Elvis,,instead of so rich,,,lol.. Thanks again.
Loads of Songs were written containing many of the songs Elvis made famous, most of them sound pretty much the same and use the same beat as that's alright mama. Great interview with Stan and his various stories about his famous father, Johnny cash, Elvis and many others, I gather most are second hand told to him by his father, who always came across as pretty straight if not a bit confused
These videos with Stan are great. Someone needs to find that song and market it. Ronnie McDowell might love it! I have seen all your videos and love them all.
"Elvis was inventing Elvis, Overflowing with coolness" That is one of the greatest descriptions I have ever heard and awesome that it came from another legends son. Great video series.
Elvis was the coolest man I've ever seen and the most charismatic. Loved hearing these stories by Stan Perkins, so fun!
Elvis just had that natural charisma that oozed coolness. Very few people have that!! He wore mascara to emphasise the blue in his eyes as well - he told Priscilla to go heavy on the mascara for that reason. Another great vid!
