As a long time Photo Restoration operator, thanks for finally showing people how to do this and not fool around with all those plastic looking filters - very good presentation.
Hi Joan, To make the oval, I first made used the elliptical marquee tool to make the shape I wanted on a new layer. If I filled it then, it would fill the inside of the oval so I first need to invert it. Go to the menu item, Select, Inverse. If you see the marching ants (dotted line) making the oval shape and now you should see it along the outside edge of the entire image. Then you can fill it with white using the paint bucket tool or go to Edit, Fill and choose white. I hope that helps.
@hgsl1986 Thank you. This is an old tutorial if you want to do it non-destructively you can draw on a separate new layer over the original photo, but you have to make sure sample all layers is selected in the options panel at the top.
Great video. Any advise on how to get work for photo restoration? I enjoy restoration so much but am having a difficult time doing it in my area. Not sure where to start ..
+David B ... Did you find your answer? I think its a tough market, photo restoration. Because most photo shops supply this service too aswell as online services. I too like this type of work but I feel its flooded with choices.
+welshdragon2008 Thank you. I'm still searching for a way that I retouch and restore for a living. Your right there are so many choices. I found a site that you can freelance on but I'm not sure it's legit yet. UPWORK is the name. Thank you for responding.
Hello David. I have sort of abandoned this channel but planning on getting back to it soon. Your questions caught my eye. I think Welshdragon2008 is correct. You mentioned Upwork, I have recently been getting worth there. It is legit but tough going. I have probably spent as much time bidding on projects there as I have actually working but there is work to be found if you are patient. One thing I have totally given up on is finding photo retouching work there. There is just so much competition and no one wants to pay what it is worth. But that is not to say that you would not do better if you tried. I would try hitting up some photo studios, wedding photographers or try to get an internship at a studio if you can afford to.
Don't know if you ever got a response, but the tablet he spoke of is a Wacom tablet. They come in several sizes. I have the Pen & Touch CTH-480 and am VERY happy with it. It took about a day or two to get used to it, but once I did it's all I use! It's a great tool. Staples or any office supply store should have them.

Good job. Many thanks.

Sue Burek You're welcome. :-) Btw, the tablet I have was $99.00 at Staples. But with a Staples coupon I got it for, like, $70.00!
ha ha . . . I agree!
quick tip
The 3rd eye made him look worst. Why are you doing this to us? Aren't you afraid that someone will get a heart attack?
Great ! Wish you were my Neighbor haha Thanks
Fucking awesome, seriously - gonna try this myself ^_^
Scary guy :D
My neighbor wants to learn. You do not show the keyboard you might lose him at the command plus J key to copy...just saying.
Thanks!
