Hey Everyone, It's Gal in 2021 :) As Philippe Perrin pointed out in a comment below (thank you by the way!) make sure the Clone Stamp Tool brush has a hardness of 100%. In the video I made a mistake and it was set at 26% hardness which causes some blur on the image taking away the original res. So be sure to set that hardness to 100% and then the result will be even better.
love your passion for your work.
Glad to see you keep updating the vid, hope you know you helped many people make their relatives happy keep it up
Hey! So when I'm clicking on Image adjustment, the black and white option is greyed out even though I have converted the Image to Smart object and I have selected the correct Layer
Hi all! Thanks for commenting and watching :) What other tutorials in Photoshop would you want me to do? I'd love to know! Comment :)
Hi Gal.... your video in Photoshop is amazing. Maybe more on restoring old photos etc. Keep up the good work :-) They are so easy to follow and you make it sound so easy. Love your work
I love your videos and it's inspiring... I would appreciate if you can make videos on how to create a cartoon and fire effects. thanks
Hi, perhaps I should look to see if you've covered this previously, but I'd like to see other uses you've found for the various blend modes and how to drop out a color like a Chrome-a-key or blue screen... thanks.
Great Photoshop CC tutorial on restoring an old photo, simple clear explanations of the menus, panels, tools, options, etc...
I enjoyed your video. I've never used patch before, just cloning everything, so that's new for me.
I'm restoring an old picture for a friend and it's very washed out, so here goes.

One of the best tutorials ever watched thank you !!!
This video is great way to learn coloring.thanks
I can't thank you enough for this tutorial. My mom cried when I restored my grandparents' photo for mother's day as a gift.
Could you help me too, I am trying but it's not giving the results.
Awesome
🙂❤️❤️❤️
@@smilydvn5203 how did it work? Did you keep trying or gave up on it?
@@itzame2127 I tried several times but it didn't work out for me
Newbie here ❤️❤️
Very good tutorial..its so clear for basic 😍
Really enjoyed your teaching style. Thanks so much
You could save a lot of time with the spot healing brush. Does a similar job to the patch and the clome stamp. You have less control but does a pretty good job.
This is a great video because you can see the exact opposite of how you should colorize your photo.
Great job! I can't afford Photo Shop right now so I have app's that let me do most of what you have done here. But for some of the changes I think that Photo Shop has better tools.
Wow that was a very very nice tutorial, very well paced out and explained quite well. You're grand father was a handsome fella too! :)
Thanks Junaid!
This is the first time I'm watching your channel and I already love you !Wow
Thanks, Steven! Keep watching and feel free to make requests :) I make new tutorials and vids every week. x
love at first sight
Superb tutorial! I learned so much, thanks..
Back in my day we sat up nights retouching negatives and colorizing prints with a tiny swab....AND WE LIKED IT!
Dadblamed kids! And stay off my yard!
Awesome, I worked on a photograph taken in 1940 in some kind of park, everything was sepia and now it looks so alive!
First time I've watched your channel. Subscribed, so I'll be watching more. Good job!
It made me subscribed to your page. Very direct tutorial. Thanks Gal ❤️🎉

Wow, very useful for learning, Thank You :)
Gramps would be proud!
Amazing!! Thank you for this ❤️❤️
Wow this is amazing
How do you clear up color photos that did not come out very clear, some are a little dark, but are clear, I want to fix these, they are of my daughter when she was a baby & toddler to about 4 to 5 yrs old, it would be a gift for her once they are fixed
That is a great picture.
Really nice work......great
Thanks for the video, I could not get the Inversion to work as you did,, So i just gave up trying to work my black and photo. Again thanks for the video

Nice tutorial. Was the image flipped? It appears that his wedding band and wrist watch are on his right hand/arm.
Good question, George! I'm not sure. My mother scanned the original and sent it to me as this. :)

So I’m working on an old photo and my grandmothers dress is super over exposed. I’d like to make it pink but can’t seem to make it show. Help?
Very interesting....
Yes!
You are beautiful as like as your lovely video🧡
nice
Be careful, when you use the clone stamp tool with a brush that's got a 26% hardness, you're degrading the texture ... You're adding blur to the image ...
I was going to say the same thing...
Philippe Perrin, what do you recommend is done instead?
@@bakedutah8411 When using the clone stamp always put the hardness to 100% percent so that the algorithm properly blends your texture to the surroundings :)
@@bakedutah8411 for scratches i often use Spot Healing brush
Shes an amateur that would rather sacrifice detail and original photo content for making it modernn. This is not "repair" or restoration, but "replacement." Just ugh.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
thank you!

Hi priere gal can i have the photo i want it for my practise plss
This was a great tutorial! Very informative and helpful! I'm wanting to restire an old black and white photo for my mom, and with this new knowledge I feel much more confident and have a better odea in how to tackle it! I wish all tutorials were like this! You've got a like and new subscriber!
Thank you Premiere Gal :)
Good tutorial, a little time consuming. When I need the results quickly I do it with Pixbim Object Remover AI and to colorize Color Surprise AI, works in a single click and gives results in seconds.
8:30 ?

that creeped me out
Porn.
i think its just a slip up of the noise gate/ noise canceling

I associate the Fedora with Aspergers, but you seem to have an appreciation for 1940s style of dressing.
I want to thank you for your video, but I'd like to point out that any repair work that you do should be about preserving everything that's already okay.
A smaller stamp tool brush, the healing tool... both these things should be used rather than cutting entire sections to copy and paste. While it saves time, it's not taking care to preserve.
what kinda brush are you using ma'am

How can We colour black & white video. Please Make video on this topic.
I will be very thankful to u.
Awesome thank you, I gave it a go..I think I chose a bit of a "busy" image to try for a first go but I've got the gist of it so I might try something a little more simple (its 2 guys on a horse and chasing a cow I think. I've used an AI program to enhance the image to higher image of 4K (im still new to the program) and its actually given one of the guys on the horse a face. But I have over exposed parts so they wouldn't colour in..so now I know what to look out for. Big thanks!
Congratulations on your work. I also worked on a photo of her mother on her wedding day. But ... I think the one who made the picture made a mistake and reversed the negative. I say this because the wedding ring is on your grandfather's right hand, as well as the watch, and the jacket's lair is closed from right to left like women. From these three considerations, I think your grandfather looked to the right, not to the left, and you should make that change. With all due respect, I sign, Constantin Zamfirescu, Bucharest, Romania
You should shut your mouth
@Don Mega Irrelevant.
You are correct!.....and it does matter!.......Especially regards historical photos, where this could have significance!
I have a somewhat wild story regarding this topic... When I lived in Crown Heights in Brooklyn a few years back there was a old school photo and print studio. I would pass by it everyday. I would pop in here and there and see if they ever needed help with anything. One day the owner gave me this extremely old print and asked what I could do... We scanned it in and luckily I was able to work some magic... Pretty crazy how powerful Photoshop is haha. Great video!
Really helpful! Thanks a lot!!
New subscriber here, I found you through your stop motion video now I have to watch everything!!!! Thank you so much for being so knowledgeable and personable! Love it. Sending all the Likes.
Nice work. I usually try and find a color photo of the subject and use drop tool to grab their skin colors, etc hope that helps👋🏼🙂
Not a bad idea! I didn't have a color photo of him around that age. Definitely a good tip!
If I do not have a color photo of grandparents, then, I find a color photo of their offspring approx the same age as in the photo. Not perfect, but is close.
photovi thanks for that tip 👍
@@PremiereGal Just find a similar Photo if that makes sense and create a floating palate of about 3-4 colours that you can pick from with the eyedropper tool... So you go from dark to light... But well done... :-)...
thank you so much! I have colorized my picture of my grandfather near Stalingrad with your help!
your tutorials are some of the best I've seen. You keep a great pace, show close-ups of the tools as you use them, speak slowly and clearly, explain everything you do and why - five stars all the way around. Thank you so much!! I'm now subscribed to your channel.

Thank u so much for the tips u shared... I LOVE IT 😍
I finally got to restore my grandmothers photo of when she was 1 yr old using this tutorial. Thanks , this was very helpful.
wow great job with the step by step instructions. For the background use the bucket, after you section the figure off.
Dang girl. You bossin it with this tutorial. I cannot wait to follow this tutorial myself to restore old family photos.
Namaste 🙏, I Just like the way you explained the lecture. Short and simple.... Thank's Gal
Unless Grandpa wore his wristwatch and wedding ring on his right hand, the photo is flipped.
Hello, I really enjoyed your tutorial, easy to follow and you dont take for granted that i might be an amatuer, which i am. I was with you until you started with changing the mask to black. First off my computer wouldnt do it. It is a mac. I tried to do it manually by going into mask options or also clicking on the white mask and even though it would allow me to change it to black, it wouldnt change the mask colour to black. Help me please! Its CS4
I liked it until you painted the Tuxedo black, it looks obviously painted and I think it looked better and more natural prior too. Maybe just turn the contrast lower/higher on it to make it darker?
Of course there are different ways to do things. Nowadays I could use content aware fill, spot heal and color replacement tool. For this background I would make a path around the person and the chair and either replace the background with a nice gradient or make this gradient blend with the background. As for colors i would do some research on internet to find colors that would match. But before i would do anything I would make a guide to align (rotate) the photo. Usually I would make the eyes align horizontal. And before making a path I will temporary turn up the contrast to see the edges better. Hair is always a problem, so fix that in the end.
Not making premier vids anymore? : (
I have a problem? My project area... all my project files... after i made an adjustment layer and added it to timeline... i can't see my project files in the project area anymore...
I have the project tab selected, but the little box below, is empty... just the words 'Import Media to start', like when you first begin a project....
What gives? Anyone? Please Help!
That is incredible! What about pictures that you don't know what they looked like in color? What would you do in that instance? Amazing job you did with your grandfather's picture :)
Photoshop Elements will do just about everything a photographer needs. The spot healing brush is handy too. I use it all the time to remove power lines. I have fixed pictures worse than this one
I really like the way you demonstrate the step by step procedure of how to restore the old picture.
Thanks ....
I really like the way you demonstrate the step by step procedure of how to restore the old picture.

Thank you for this interesting and educational video. The process is nonetheless to be emulated with other software in the market because the excessive commercial conditions of Photoshop CC for the occasional use that most subscribers who watch these videos do. I do not think this product will survive for a long time by the only subscription of professional photographers or amateurs very informed !
Quick tip to change hardness and size of your brush... Hold control and option then drag your brush up or down to change the hardness/softness and drag left or right to change the size of your brush.
Thanks for the tip Julian!
On PC: Alt + press and hold right button
You can also use the open and close brackets on a Windows for that.
