My guess is that Rayleigh taught Roger, Shanks AND Luffy Haki during his life time. It would help explain why Roger and Shanks seem to have such refined mastery of it.

You can argue Luffy is on par with Raleigh now. Shocky tells the straw hats that he was 100x stronger than them. When luffy kicks kizaru, in egghead he tells him I’m 100x stronger than the last time we met.

The main contention I have with oden fans believing that oden was the second strongest on the Roger pirates, is that they think as if Oden was the only one growing and no one else progressed in all that time. And that it's the same argument that Shanks fans make when discussing Shanks vs Mihawk. Also we should factor in their purposes on the crew. Roger recruited Rayleigh purely for his combat ability, sure oden is really strong but he recruited Oden purely for his translation skills. To assume Oden is the only one who got stronger is so short sighted.
I feel there’s another level to haki that luffy hasn’t unlocked yet. There seems to be three tiers basic advanced and mastered haki. Ryu seems to be advanced, what would the mastery of that be ability

I think Old Rayleigh is on par with many admirals. But yes I think Prime Rayleigh is stronger than Gorosei

I think if roger had power level of 40 than Rayleigh must be 38 or 39 extremely closed and i think whitebeard roger Rayleigh garp were in extremely close in terms of power and strength with little ups and downs as they weren't able to beat eachother
Roger, ray, and garp are the only three pure haki users from the previous era. Sengoku and whitebeard both had fruit power. Rayleigh is a straight up monster. Even the gorosei are scared of him. The only person who had stronger haki then Rayleigh was joyboy. Garp, Roger and Rayleigh were all at the same level of haki masters.
Marines were very much aware that Ray lives on Sabaody.
They were aware in the sense of rumors, but not really because they never went after him/never knew exactly where
Since Rayleigh's a very versatile fighter, I really hope it's the same for Shanks and Roger. I really don't like the idea of three of my favorite characters being strictly swordsmen due to how limited it is.
Swordmen are not limited. They can still punch or kick if needed (Mihawk karate chopping Zoro back in baratie) . They can even still be Swordmen while being DF users (Fujitora, Law , Kaku) .
They can use other methods as long as swordmanship is their primary fighting style.

Rayleigh like Garp are two characters I won't accept downplay on. Especially with the series showcasing his renown ... He was in my belief top 5 when Roger was pirate king. I truly only saw Roger, Whitebeard & Garp stronger then him. Especially being a comparison for a future Zoro it especially makes sense for him to have been that strong. I hate when folks tried to say Oden was on Rayleigh level, or hell even Big Mom or Kaido during that time.. I keep saying there was literally no proof of this in the story. The anime even showed Oden being comparable to Scopper ... Rayleigh being a old man and still being able to tango with a admiral is crazy. What folks need to remember is that the Marines know exactly where he is but *Won't* go after him😅💯. We already know marines need permission to engage Yonko which as we know Rayleigh wasn't. So to put him on that lvl is something I feel he deserves. I'm praying Oda gives us some Prime Rayleigh & Prime Garp action..
Also interesting to note is that I feel (atleast in my headcanon) that going by the personalities we seen so far Rayleigh more than likely was the person actually training Shanks. I feel Shanks simply learned by watching Roger but actually was physically taught by Rayleigh. Seeing as how strong shanks is now I feel we partially owe that to Rayleigh.

Yeah Rayleigh may not be able to beat Blackbeard, despite the fact that I actually think he can but is downplaying, but I think Rayleigh would fatally cripple Blackbeard to the point that Blackbeard would have to give up being a pirate.

It's gonna be so embarrassing for you when Oda shows us how strong Mihawk is smh. Zoro is already scaring yonko and we know he nowhere close to being as strong as mihawk because zoro doesn't have a black blade. And we know zoro's not close to getting a black blade because he has to learn to wield enma as light as a feather. And even then, he would only be able to continue where oden left off and who knows how long that will take.

Zoro's dream doesn't mean nothing. Zoro should be stronger than both by the end of the series. If he can surpass Mihawk, he should be able to also defeat Shanks. Titles aren't absolute. They are how the world views someone's legacy and reputation. Like calling Michael Jordan "the GOAT". Whitebeard was not still the "STRONGEST MAN" when he held that title during Marineford even if he once was.@@calliefalls3325 Also, Roger was the strongest swordsman of his era but you don't hear anyone call him that.
