Have you looked at the lux power /eg4 6000xp all in one? Seems to be a solid unit from what I have seen and low idle consumption. It would be great if you can get sun gold power to sponsor one for you. If that is the case the sun gold power would be a great value. Going with lifepo4, would putting a small ac in your solar room be a good investment. Lifepo4 should have much less given off.
Yes, adjustments need to be made, because I experience hot, and freezing here. The eg4 is nice but the Sungold power 48v 12k seems like a better option. I applied to Sunpower but they refused me, although I have sold a number of their units from referral. I still think they have great products at better prices.
Mr Bear. Please your thoughts. Middle of June I'm heading to my off grid in Arizona.... Do to circumstances I'll be using 2 55 gallon water barrels. For a while ... They say they've has food products in them. ?? How would you clean them... Car wash. ??? You are and have been doing it... And I havent.... By the end of the year I'll be on the property permanently... And be using IBC totes... While I get settled Any help will be great... Thank you for your time... P.S. I can get well water. From the general store... Or city water from the city... About the same distance
Welcome aboard James! I understand that starting out 'water' need thing. I did it with 3, 20 gal barrels for months. To clean, add 1 cup swimming pool chlorine to the empty barrel. Fill with fresh water from a garden hose, splashing and washing the insides until full. Let sit for 1 to 3 hours, then siphon drain until you can tip over to drain completely. Refill with fresh water for the trip. The residual chlorine will be enough to purify your water without being a Nuisance. For future, use 1 teaspoon pool chlorine per 55 gallons of water before filling, to maintain purity, and filter for drinking or cooking. Best wishes for your endeavor! Let me know if I can be of future assistance.
Oh, if the food products contained oils, like vegetable, olive, safflower, etc, before you sterilize with the pool chlorine, wash them out with a quarter cup of dawn dish liquid and fill with water, then drain and rinse before doing the chlorine thing. Note: don't use household bleach in place of pool chlorine. Most household bleaches contain soap products in the mix. Pool chlorine in controlled quantities will not hurt you if you swallow some. (Like getting a mouthful while swimming) The pool chlorine can be used in a large water tank like mine, (2500 gal) at a rate of 1 quart per 2500 gal water.
G bear, gobelpower has lifep04 310ah cells stocked in cali for $55 plus shipping. That plus a bms and its way cheaper than the prefab batteries at 1/3 the power
Interesting, but what about the BMS, the hot and cold protection, and all the wiring and connectors? I think LiTime is easier, or even better, the rack batteries from SunPowerGold systems. 48v each with all assembled rack units designed specifically for the SunGoldPower All in one's. Time and convenience has a price too.
Wow, guess I am first from SE Mich. One small correction....PWM runs at battery voltage and NOT the solar panel voltage. Therefore, if you connect a 300 watt 37vdc voc to a 12v battery,, the PWM will shoot for about 14v to charge meaning that 14/37 equaling about 38% of the 300 watt panel will make power or about 113 watts max to the battery. Whereas, using a MPPT the same 300 watt panel would get about 75-80% of the 300 watt panel as potential charging power. Bottom line as you pointed out is buy a true MPPT controller or an all in one if the budget allows. I love my midnight controllers and still plan on using the lead acid as slaves to charge from a turbine at night. The old PWMs will be diversion controllers only to burn off excess power to heat water for the green house. Enjoy and hope the allergies abate. Gary from SE MI
Welcome aboard Gary! Yes, you are correct on the voltages and efficiency. Bottom line, don't buy junk thinking it will do, just to save a buck, because it'll cost you 5 bucks in losses.
@@GBear Hi G Bear🙋 Love the fresh channel😊 If you still have the same email address, I will let you know how I've been by email tomorrow👍 I sure miss everybody💯
Nice information brother! I just received the charge controller for my buddy's golf cart and the sent me a pwm so am sending it back, and I reordered mppt one dangit!
It would be interesting to see how many usable Ah's your battery setup can still hold (discharge test) after nine years. Probably why it charges up so fast in the morning. But it does keep the lights a burning 👍
Yeah, they drop in power quickly after sunset if the wind isn't blowing at a good speed. I have gotten into shutting the inverter down before going to bed and powering back up around 6am. I'm sleeping, so I don't need power running. I do have to reset the clock on the stove every morning, but no big deal. I'm just trying to extend this bank until my inheritance gets here.
@@GBear Those stove clocks are good for letting a person know the power went out while you were gone. Sounds like you're going all in on the new 48v system👍 lucky you !
@@cliffandrews yes, if my inheritance ever gets here. If not, I have found some people interested in becoming the heirs to this place for a price, and I will still be upgrading.
