Went down there last year riding to Mac Millers music. Mainly his song Traffic In The Sky & his album Swimming. I live in Okc & I will be going back to visit when I have time. Their downtown area is so beautiful & I was down there late at night so I really enjoyed it to myself lol. Good video.
I'd say that 635 from just east of I-35E (given the compromised standards on the freeway's main lanes at that interchange) all the way over to US-80 would be second-favorite freeway in the Dallas area after Central Expressway. Yes, I'm aware that the standards are also a bit compromised from US-75 to I-30 (11' lanes in order to accommodate the HOV/Express lanes) but the continuous high-mast lighting there makes up for that. Hopefully the high-masts stay when that section of 635 is rebuilt... that rebuild is going to be absolutely huge (5-2-2-5 freeway configuration; 10 main lanes, 4 express lanes), and Katy Freeway-style lighting (high-masts on both sides) would be justified for that rebuild, I would think. 35E's ultimate reconstruction from 635 to Denton will be similar, so high-masts would probably work best there too; in fact, the I-35E/FM-407 bridge north of the end of this video has been built as wide as the ultimate configuration and uses high-mast lighting there, perhaps as a preview of what is to come? When 35E is rebuilt again I would expect to see high-masts from the Loop 12 interchange all the way up to the Lewisville Lake Bridge, given that the final product will be a 4-2-2-4 configuration (8 free lanes, 4 tolled express lanes) at minimum. And I believe that 635 between I-35E and US-75 didn't use high-masts because the express lanes are sunken, though I don't see any reason why they couldn't have used high-masts along the heavily commercialized section from Midway to US-75 (I understand light pollution could affect surrounding neighborhoods west of there). At the present time, 35E needs some work before I can call it my favorite (or second-favorite) freeway in the Dallas area.
Impressive infrastructure! The ride feels like a rollercoaster though, the lanes are almost never straight, they shift left and right all the time, up and down, no left shoulder at all and the lanes appear to be narrower as well?
I think the roller coaster effect is a bit amplified by the camera lens that I used to film this, though it is a bit of a roller coaster. And you’re right, the lane alignment is all over the place. Particularly the I635 interchange. The lanes are definitely narrower than standard.
Something about driving through stack interchanges with the surrounding mast lighting is such an awesome feeling. Around 3:40 and forward, are all the bridge connections, that don’t go anywhere, still under construction?
I think they are just for future expansion. To my knowledge there isn't any construction ongoing immediately south of the Loop 12 interchange that would directly tie into that ramp stub right now.
I don't have any footage of the 360 Tollway extension. If I go back to Dallas, I'd likely get some, but, I have no plans to go back to Dallas in the immediate future.

I like the 635 a lot too actually. To be honest though, I like most of the freeways in the DFW area a fair amount.
Dallas is such a cool city. That skyline view is nearly unparalleled, especially with the new horseshoe project.

Most of the mast lighting on I-35E are getting replaced with 6 circular round LED bulbs to replaced the old HPS lighting
