That McKinney section is probably among my favorite sections of the Central Expressway, it's nice and wide compared to the more southerly segments of the corridor (and has continuous high-mast lighting to boot). I would not be surprised to see a second five-level stack (for the US-75 corridor) go up at US-75 and US-380 once the latter gets upgraded to a freeway, although this interchange would be north of the current 75/380 interchange, probably around the US-75 and Laud Howell Parkway interchange (three exits north of this video's end).
There are other videos here on UA-cam if you want to see the northernmost segment of the McKinney section of US-75, including the place where the 380 bypass might intersect; InterstateJD has a really good southbound perspective that starts in Melissa, taken about a month after this video was filmed. There really is not much more of the Metroplex once you get north of 380; north of Bloomdale (second exit north of 380) the corridor feels a lot more rural, and the high-mast lighting ends there too. There is plenty of suburban development around Melissa these days, but most of the development is away from US-75; the commercial development along the US-75 corridor ends just north of US-380.

      Thanks for the comment.
I'd seen Interstate JD's Central Expressway video before, it was very well done, as pretty well all of his videos were.
I've driven the Central Expressway quite a few times, and have more unreleased footage from years past. Though I've only driven as far north of US-380. (Though I've driven US-380 from Denton to Greenville).

@@AsphaltPlanet1 I would say that the Central Expressway corridor has been one of constant change. Maybe less in terms of major roadway expansions over the last two decades (except for the complete overhaul in McKinney, although Allen had lanes added recently it appears they used the existing pavement to an extent) and more in terms of suburban growth. It would be nice to see an improved HOV facility or even express lanes along Central between I-635 and McKinney, though a large-scale project would require a major overhaul of the corridor. The narrow corridor south of I-635 means that little can be done to add lanes there, although taking out the left shoulder and narrowing the remaining lanes to 11 feet could allow for the addition of HOV lanes (one per direction) or something. Not ideal but not unheard of either.
Ultimately, I believe the I-45 designation should extend north of Dallas, but not unless an Interstate-quality road gets built to (at least) I-40 in Oklahoma. The general expectation is that I-x5 Interstates (as well as I-x0 Interstates) are primary corridors and should either connect to another portion of the Interstate system or end at some destination of significance, such as a border crossing or a major city like Miami (as I-95 and I-75 do, although the latter ends in the suburbs); I-35's northern terminus in Duluth is sort of an exception in that Duluth is not truly a major city, although it is a Great Lakes port city. Not to mention, a freeway up to Thunder Bay is not really warranted either given the otherwise-sparce population of northern Ontario and northeastern Minnesota; Canada's population centers are bifurcated between the West (Prairies and BC) and East (Windsor-Quebec City corridor and the Atlantic provinces), and as such the major border crossings are those in North Dakota (I-29's northern terminus at the border south of Winnipeg) and points west (namely the Sweet Grass/Coutts crossing between MT/AB and especially the Blaine/White Rock crossing between WA/BC) as well as Michigan and points east.
All of US-75 in Texas is freeway-grade, but this ends just a few miles into Oklahoma (north side of Colbert), and the freeway does not end at any destination of significance. If the I-45 designation were to be applied now, this would leave an undesirable "dangling terminus" for what should be a primary (I-x5) Interstate highway, although I-45's southern terminus in Galveston is also a "dangling terminus," but that's near the coast. That said, building a freeway should be pretty simple along the US-69/75 corridor in Oklahoma south of Tushka (aside from a cramped situation in Calera), plus Durant to Caddo is already a full freeway, but things get considerably harder from Tushka to McAlester. From McAlester northwards, I-45 could then follow the Indian Nation Turnpike up to I-40 in Henryetta, and then US-75 north to Tulsa. A Dallas-Tulsa I-45 corridor would be nice and would provide an alternative to I-35 in southern Oklahoma for long-distance traffic traveling between Texas and the Midwest.

In 2017 I got as far as Texarkana and then went back south to Shreveport on I-49. In 2018 I went as far as Little Rock. I spent a night in the east side of town that year. I didn't do much of a freeway tour unfortunately as it was late when I pulled in, and I drove straight back to Toronto the next day (which is a long drive from Little Rock).

@@dariusbrock2351 Hi, I'm from Dallas. And yes it gets jammed up during rush hour, but it still moves, just slower than normal. If there are any accidents, which are common, then yes it can get really slow. But in general, during most of the day, central expressway moves well until you get close to downtown, then it slows again at the other interchanges, but it's not that bad. This applies for most of the other freeways in the DFW area as well. And there are a TON of freeways here.

@@dariusbrock2351 Typically on a Friday even during the non peak hours you’ll be moving but at around 55mph. At least that’s how it was for me yesterday. But during normal days it should move alright if it’s not rush hour. It’s a very busy highway, especially since so many people lives up in Collin County nowadays.

It’s because TXDOT increased the speed limit on majority of the DFW freeways from 60 mph to 70 mph outside of downtown in 2015! Meanwhile Houston is stuck with 60mph or 65 mph speed limit on I-45 and US-290, I-10, I-69, TX-288, Grand Parkway in some sections

My favorite highway to drive in Dallas. I'm old enough to remember when they expanded it. The amount of dirt they had to move was impressive. One thing about this highway is people drive fairly fast on it (when it's not rush hour, of course). At times, you could be doing 90 and not passing a single soul.
