Always seem to end up right back here on your channel when servicing my 1090 ... swapped the rim seals this last weekend. Not hard by any stretch, but my advise to people is to take their time and do it right. It is tedious, but if you use a lot of soapy water and work about 3-4" at time the seal seats without much of a fight. I also used an automotive trim tool to seat the seal into the rim.
Yep, take your time and it’ll work out great.
Don’t even have a KTM but I love these garage videos. So cool to learn how stuff works and goes together. Thank Mario!👍🏻
I seems to forget to check your channel first for the how to. Just want to thank you for making thses videos for us so our DYI is just a bit easier seeing a detailed video.
I've got the 2016 SA as well and followed these directions in installing the rear band, that a large screw poked a hole through. As well as the wheel removal and today or tomorrow the install. Your instructions made it easy and there's no leaks. I didn't have any bolt and nuts laying around, but a 10mm bolt and nut from the auto store fit in the valve stem hole nicely.
My son and I just tackled the rear wheel bands and TP sensor on my KTM1190 this afternoon. This video helped me a ton and saved me about $300 U.S. so thank you! FYI, this was 1st time attempt and we found that having at least two sets of LONG tire irons with bead breakers is ideal with two rim protectors but I'm gonna invest in another set of rim protectors. We used a set of shorty irons and we couldn't get enough leverage so I think the long ones are the way to go. Hard part is dismounting the tire from the wheel so if you have another set of hands then it make it easier and definitely use lots of soapy water. Again, these vids are SUPER HELPFUL so Thank you!
Glad it helped. I have a NoMar tire changer in my shop so no need for Tim protectors. That said like using them on the dirt bikes when changing them.
Thanks for keeping the awesome content coming out Mario! Love my 15' SAS, and your vids have definitely helped keeping her in check. Rock on dude!🤘😎🤘
Thanks Mario‼I picked up a 2015 1290 SA with 1600 miles on it and you have been a huge help increasing my KTM knowledge. I now have a 1190 1290 and a big Indian Challenger in the garage 😳If you’re ever in the Golden CO area, I owe you a steak and a beer and night of lodging.
I got damn close in August, stayed in Boulder for the night on the cross country trip. Glad the videos are helping u out!
thanks this is do with my next tire change. And that will be right before the Oct. 2 wheel ADV event going with 50/50s for that trip
Excellent Video! I appreciate your effort on this content as I am chasing down a rear tire leak on a 2015 KTM1190 ADV, you make it look easy!
Thanks for this. Your Ktm videos are the best. Very easy to follow and lots of detail. I’ll be doing it exactly the way you showed it.
Thanks Brian!
Thanks, right on time! Tonight’s project.
Got it all switched over for the rear, perfect no more small leaks around spoke nipples. Thanks for blazing the trail.
Have not have to do mine yet but what a great video on how to do it... go to video for sure when doing ! Thx Mario.
Love your videos Mario they really help keep my 2015 sa in good order. I had to change the front wheel gasket last year and no matter what I done the wheel leaked 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ had to take it to the dealer in the end, if I had only seen the comment just below mine I think it would have solved the problem 😁😁 Keep the content coming 👍👍
Thanks, great video, time for me to do my 2016 Adv bike!
Good stuff Mario 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Ian!
Thanks for this! Great channel :)
Thanks. Appreciate it.
Thank you!!
I installed new tubes and tires on another bike I aired it up and bubbles were coming around the spokes so I broke it back down took the tube in my into my bath tub and submerged the tube and could find as leak so now I air it up to max air that the tire says and let it set over night and adjust the air and let it roll thanks for the video I just bought a 2022 ktm890 adventure so now I know how to replace the seal deal.
Thanks
Really appreciate it! Thanks so much!
Hah, just did this last week on the 1090R. Couldn't get the spokes to stop leaking. Dropped a small bead of silicone around the stem where it comes through the gasket, bam. Bit of a PIA but better than the tubes I was running.
Cool system. Much more robust/stronger wheel system than that used by BMW.
It does work well and if/when it does fail, nothing a tube can't solve.
Nice. I kinda of figured it would be a way bigger gong show the way some go on about this process.
Takes a little time but soapy water does wonders.
Awesome guide! Quick question, is the TPMS battery user replaceable? What type battery is required? Thanks in advance.
It is (I can’t remember the exact type of the top of my head) but u have to get creative in removing it. Wasn’t “technically” designed to be removed.
Just found your channel. Helmet speakers was great. I've got a dilemma. Shoei neotec, Harley cb coming in also send Bluetooth comin in. To keep them separate I'm running two 27mm 32ohm speakers on each side. I have to over lap them 1/4" . Can't cut out helmet lining to make them fit. Any suggestions on speaker coverings or attachments. Thanks
Dunno. Never seen anyone running 2 sets of speakers in a helmet
If you want to repair the front wheel, and the gasket and rubber band have less than 3 years, can yo just remove them repair the wheel and install them after? or do you necessarily need to put on a new set of gasket and rubber band?
The 5 year mark is the recommended replacement mark. If you made a repair to the wheel and your gaskets are o Lu 3 years old, as long as they seal air, I see no issue with reusing them.
hi..where I can buy this for make my Triumph Bonneville t100 2014 tubeles of? tnx
Dealer or authorized Triumph parts seller
Where can I buy the rim band? I have searched high and low and can not find it!
Authorized KTM parts dealer.
@@2WR The last time I ordered this part from KTM, it never came. I found one on line and KTM screwed up the installATION and I had air leaking from almost half the spokes. I will never buy a ktm motorcycle again!! NEVER!!!!! I am going to try to never return to the ktm dealer again. If I can not sell it, I will put a match to it!!!!
for a 16 year bike would it have been worth changing the tpms sensor, I am not sure on the life expectancy of the batteries. Great help and having the same bike I appreciate the work you put in. Thanks.
Thought about it but they're still working. A full replacement would require a trip to the dealer for reprogram. That said, I've seen you can replace the battery in them (need to get creative to remove it). When they die, many attempt that. No big deal to pull off the tires since I have my own tire changer.
@@2WR thanks for the reply, keep up the good work
just done at the KTM dealership, or spent Euro 170😱
only the rear rim.
Hi Mario, you still own this motorcycle?, is possible you make a video showing how to adjust the direction head bearing? I feel my a bit loose but not idea how to adjust it. Thanks.
