This is an absolutely beautiful composition. It‘s like a crossover of several traditional European folk styles - ranging from the Celtic area, across Central Europe (including Germany), the West Slavic lands, all the way down to Romania, Bulgaria and Greece.
Que les elfes les fees les druides merlin l'enchanteur et tout le peuple de broceliande se preparent car mavenue officiel en terre de bretagne est officiel en aout de cette année !
💞🇲🇽🤩🤗!!! You make My Day! What a Surprise! This Film Will be The Number ONE Forever in My List! I Watched at Movie Teather in 1981 or 1982 with 5 Years Old! Is a DIAMOND & I can understand everything in it, All Answers about The Good or Bad Energies & How The EGO separated. I Love The Music My Soul Vibrates one more time! I wait The Great Conjunction...✨😇🙏💫 Thanks a lot!!! 💞
The Dark Crystal was ahead of it's time it was the first movie to be shoot entirely with puppets sadly it was unfairly eclipsed by E.T which was in everyone's mind the best film of 1982
It's crazy Jim Henson also originally shot the film with every creature having their own dialect The skeksis, the mystics, the gelfligs Everybody spoke their own language Not one single character spoke in English But audiences at the time didn't understand it So it was dubbed again in English
I was a teen and saw this in the theater new, with a friend. This was my first exposure to “Celtic” type music, and I was instantly hooked. I later ran across “The Thistle and Shamrock” on NPR, and from then on I never missed a show.
the only medieval instrument that i could easily identify is the shawm, a woodwind instrument, from 1.37. also, the hurdy-gurdy provides a consistent drone troughout.
Funny, it reminded me much more of a crumhorn.:) I do also hear recorder flutes (obviously), either a baroque guitar or a mandolin, hurdy gurdy, and percussion
578th ode of gratitude Ahh! the Pod People! Moon is Pisces a sign of the mystical and ancient past this otherworldly song drew me as a child to its exotic lift as if I belong to a culture mixed with gypsy, greek, celtic, latin and meditteranean ...I loved the food greek mythology as a child and never connected the dots of similarity with my mind but the music I connected with although I was African American and that magical intrinsic connection is what Pisces is all about!
Christian Finnish Frostiis We people of Finland get treated as podlings by our SkekSIs Demon-cratic overlords... i wish people would treat each others like Gelflings but we dance the Pod Dance
this is what fantasy music in world should sound like. it seems a blend of greek, early middle ages and just plain party. yet epic. i love the gelflings look, but as a kid their dialoge and acting often bored me a little. but then we got this scene , and young teenaged me was dancing in the movie theater seat. the one eyed wittch was goofy, and i liked her, and the ending was rad. the skekesies had pleasingly jaba the hut tablemanners, and then there was this music. dont get me wrong. I really like the movie. (although i think labrerynth is better, and is one of my favorites) but this movie is just kinda up and down on pacing. having said that, if i could pick some highlights out of 80s fantasy for a time capsule or hall of fame, this music, right here would be there with tops.
this actually matches but I would say if they use this song for fairy tail for the festival in magnolia it'll be awesome see the fairy tail girls dance at the dance and few of the people play the toons for this song.
And what's funny is that Netflix is gonna do that Dark Crystal prequel TV show coming next month which looks amazing! a sneaky little self promotion to that show by throwing into another Netflix show
@@Ravedaze. Me too, loved it for 33 years since i was 4 when i saw it on video and been one of my favorite movies and one of the movies that made me a sci-fi/fantasy geek. The prequel show should be amazing eh from the trailers and all? it and WItcher are my most anticipated shows of the year now that Game of Thrones has ended. And do you like Labyrinth, The Witches, Storyteller, Dinosaurs etc.?
from 2:00 and on its got a sound of a bouzouki which is a greek 4 string instrument.but im sure its another medievil intrument, does anyone know what it is?
Yeah! Look for Renaissance composers like Michael Praetorius. Some of the more jaunty dance tunes are voltes (or voltas) and bransles. Recordings by the Baltimore Consort or the Folger Consort are pretty good place to start. And a fun fusion artist to look up is Malicorne, they're like, French Folk Funk from the 70's & 80's. They have a kinda disco version of Horse's Bransle (Bransle de Chevaux)!

Those certainly do seem to be influences. It’s beautiful and lively
Podlings stay lit
Those Podfolk know how to have a good time.
I'd love to see the actual artists while they are recording this song, they must have had such a great time
So real I wish It was recorded

Exactly

I wouldn’t necessarily call this „Celtic“, since this includes elements and motives from all across Europe.
No lyrics, but this is one of the most life affirming songs ever.
and the podlings did get down and jam. and there was much rejoicing.

PODLINGS!!! *^_^* Dark Crystal music is wonderful. *^_^*
Now that’s Pod racing!
When single shines the triple sun what was sundered and undone shall be whole, the two made one by Gelfling hand, ...or else by none!
Goin hard on the kazoo
Evan Garcia I think it’s a crumhorn rather than a kazoo
Actually written and played by Richard Harvey this track is huge fun. I heard Richard talking about it on Soho Radio the other day...fascinating!
Christian Finnish Frostiis We people of Finland get treated as podlings by our SkekSIs Demon-cratic overlords... i wish people would treat each others like Gelflings but we dance the Pod Dance
Best band in the village.
I love the Pod Dance it gives mixture of european dance sometimes Im doing cossack & turkish dance😊🎶

As a huge Fairy Tail fan myself, that'd be awesome!!!!
yeah it would be
Gracias a ti por comentar, tengo otros 2 tracks de: The Dark Crystal.....
Stranger things season 3 ep 3
That surprised me with Will the wise
I find similarities between this soundtrack and the one from The Witcher 1+2
Given that pondlings speak Croatian and Witcher is based on Slavic mythology it does make a lot of sense.
This song features on the Netflix Original ‘Stranger Things’ S3:E3 👍😃
