"Christmas, 1985, I'll never forget those memories. I was still a teenager then, and I had all the self importance that comes with it. And as my friends and I walked through the cold, snowy city streets, one of them stopped us all to look at something. The local cinema had a couple of new movies out. Goonies. Back to the Future. Commando. They all looked cool, but kind of corny. And... huh? 'Final Fantasy VII'? I was confused by that weird title. Looked like another one of those crappy sci-fi movies. Wait? 18 rated?! There was no way. That fantasy stuff is for kids and losers!! How could laser beams and fairies and robots be for adults? But then I looked closer and it looked so cool...so different... Motorcycles. Cute girls. Dudes with guns on their arms and giant knives on their backs. And that guy with the white hair, what was his deal. We had to see it. We had to!! And there was only one way it was going to happen.
We had to convince my older brother to take us. He was the family golden child. White collar worker. Real mild mannered. And to top it all off he was a huge poindexter, a sci-fi nerd. Damn I miss him. I'll never forget the shock I felt when he agreed to take us there. This guy never did anything wrong, he was a people pleaser. Why did he say yes? He must have known about it already from those weird conventions he'd go to, I didnt really talk to him much because we didnt have much in common, so I was just confused. He just seemed... happy and eager that I was interested. And he even agreed to not tell mom. I think after that was the day, we really started to hang out more...
He took my friends and I there for the 10pm screening. We were excited as hell, like little kids. And we were still kids, even though we wanted to believe so damn bad we weren't. If only we'd known how good we had it back then... And as we started crunching on the candies and snacks we'd snuck in through our oversized coats, the movie started.
I'll never forget how that entire cinema was bathed in this neo green mist as the narrator started talking about "mako reactors" and the planet. It was like nothing I'd ever known... i couldnt describe it. The best I could come up with was a blend between bladerunner, a david lynch film, that 1984 apple advert and a horror movie, all coming together to make something next level. The special effects of Midgar, Nibelheim and Wutai made our jaws drop and blew our minds. That dark synth soundtrack was top notch. The anti-corporation message and hopeless atmosphere just spoke to my wannabe, rebellious teenage self. The entire Wall market scene, especially Cloud's actor rocking a dress and still looking so damn cool, was absolutely unheard of in the era of Schwarzenegger and Stallone, really ahead of its time and had us laughing out loud. The way the movie just transfomed into a blood bath during the nibelheim scene was chilling. And when I saw Aerith die in the last scene and the "to be continued" flash on screen as it faded to black, I didnt know whether to cry or get angry. A movie had never moved me like that before. It looked so real, the blood, the sword, the life evaporating from her eyes. Its no wonder the scene, the movie and the actor all got an oscar just for that. Too bad she just disappeared from acting afterwards... all that drama between Zack and Cloud's actor unfortunately. I knew I'd seen something special that day though - and when the guys who directed Predator, Batman '89 and Full Metal Jacket all point to this film as inspiration, you know its real. The wait for those second and third movies was unbearable. You couldnt go two miles without someone quoting Barret's pizza line for a whole year. It was a true blockbuster and I'll never forget it. No one thought anything would be bigger than Star Wars, and this proved them wrong. It was a romance flick, a slasher film, a mystery movie, a cyberpunk piece, a kung fu classic, a comedy and a psychological horror all rolled into one and it somehow worked. How? I dont know. But it changed cinema forever....it changed me forever.
Thanks, bro. I'll never forget that experience you gave me. I'll watch that remake for the both of us."
Everyone must read this. Thank you for sharing your otherdimensional memories with us
@@GianlucaMurru It was a pleasure! Absolutely loved this video!
@@GianlucaMurru this was reallly cool video dude. i think when single people can make whole movies, we will finally start to see some amazing entertainment again

Holy crap this was good. Congrats man!
In a parallel universe this was my favourite movie of all time!
I want to go to there.
Jajajajaj yeahhh you are right. SALUDOS!!
Agreed 100%
Mine too, I'm ready to switch realities
How about the Advent Children movie?
I love that the chocobos look like practical effects. This is too good!
“AI-generated practical effects” is something I am very ready for.
This is a weird mix of Labyrinth, Blade Runner and original Dune and I love it.

And the highlander
There can be only 1 Final Fantasy…..🤓
Masters of the Universe.. it's pulled from literally all of them. its wild
This is just insane. It's also kind of creepy that we've reached the point where AI can generate these stills.
I bet soon AI will be able to combine these stills into full length movies... and the only way you will be able to tell it isn't live action is the fact that everybody will have 12 fingers

The movie aesthetics added to the FF7 themes have created a powerful pseudo-nostalgia monster that strikes differently with surreal momories not of your own, just amazing
This was the most vivid FF7 experience I've had since 2000... my soul was waiting 20+ years for this. Ican't wait to see the other disks.
There's really only one other disc. Nothing much happens on Disc III, just the final battle, a bunch of side-quests, some bizarre genetic experiments with chocobos and a long cutscene at the end.
Please play the FFVII Remake available on consoles and PC. It gives you new insight into many sequences.
This look would have been a lot more magical than what they went with. This gave me heavy nostalgia vibes but fresh like seeing and feeling it like I was a kid again!
@@DezorianGuy It gives you a completely DIFFERENT story. Don't get me wrong, the remake was alright, but it is NOT the story of Final Fantasy 7. Objectively so.
This is badass! Red 13 and Cait Sith were awesome. Man, I can't wait to see what the weapons look like!
It's incredible how well AI's have managed to nail 80's Hollywood casting choices for low budget movies, this is amazing
I'm gonna wake up one day and not know for certain if I ever saw this movie.
It's like staring into a parallel universe.
Amazing how we can tell who each character is supposed to be.
final fantasy 7 meets David Lynch dune, I never knew I wanted this!
“We”!…. “We” never knew we wanted this!😂
I saw Sting in Cloud !

I can’t stop watching this…. this is hauntingly beautiful on so many levels
Michael Bolton as Sephiroth was definitely a genius move by Cameron.
Ahahah genius 😂

@@onewingedangelsephiroth1561 I always pictured Henry Cavill in the role.
This would have been one of the most talked about movies of 1985!
This actually looks like a good movie. Like Ridley Scott meets Terry Gilliam, with all the best parts of both
I'm completely obsessed with this one. It fits so insanely well
This gives off the feelings I had for the game when I was like 5.
Perfection!, and thankyou for giving Vincent some love. He has been sadly neglected.
Imagine how much harder Tifa would hit with two extra fingers!
This was mind blowing! This look would have been a lot more magical than what they went with. This gave me heavy nostalgic vibes that was at the same time fresh like seeing and feeling it for the first time like I was a kid again!
What I can't stand is how this got THE CINEMATOGRAPHY right, too!😱😱😱
How can I be nostalgic for something that never existed?
I have never been inclined to leave a UA-cam comment. This is a work of art. It’s my new favorite anything.
Thank you, so much
This happened on an alternate earth where FF7 and the series are a success series of blockbuster movies
*looks at the MCU
Oh god no...
I was just thinking while watching this that I could come around to the idea that AI just pulls images out of alternate dimensions...
@@andrewlesniak8018 True, according to Quantum Mechanics and Everett's "Many Worlds."
IKR, looks WAY more imaginative than The Spirits Within did.
The alternate universe where Square Enix listened to their fans original pleas and made a Final Fantasy 7 movie instead of Final Fantasy the Spirits Within.
This is reaching a stage as if we are looking into another dimension where this movie was actually made.
I want this to be a real movie
magnificent, the dark vibe , the cool fashion , hairstyles clothes, the 80's style scenery with a post apocaliptic touch.. this is the movie i want, the movie we all want.
Generate images of what a Final Fantasy VII movie shot in the 80s might look like.
AI: Sure thing! No problem! I'll blow your mind!
And make sure the hands of the human characters have 5 fingers.
AI: ...numbers are just an arbitrary concept, right?
lol, so true
Joke's on us, computers start counting on 0, telling it to do 5 fingers is giving it permision to do 6!
@@jaimemarrero3982 wanna hear something funny? Recently some people have discovered that if you ask Midjourney to draw a hand with 6 fingers, it will often generate a reasonably well-drawn hand with 5 fingers. I think AI is kinda trolling us
When Nobuo Uematsu composed the origenal soundtrack, he used all of his 12 fingers playing the piano, too!
I'm seeing this a lot. People with 6 fingers is a thing in our world. Also "webbed" hands and toes. I have about a 1/2 inch web between fingers but mine are practically invisible.
5:16 I'm in love with Tifa's dolphin limit break, seriously.
Ya that's what I'm looking at
Tifa's "Dolphin Blow"?
Played this game so much back in the day that each image made sense and brought me back to those moments in the game. A masterpiece.
I kept feeling that too :D
This is the most satisfying, perfect depiction or 1) what 80's fantasy/sci-fi movies stand for, and 2) how FF7 would look like as a movie in the hands of a master (Lynch, Gillian, Scott). To echo the sentiment of many comments, this is a better version of what I was dreaming about whenever I'm remembering my awesome time in the 80's. Thank you Sir.
Man the finger thing being the give away that it's AI art is kind of a creepy phenomenon with foreboding existential connotations. Imagine if we woke up tomorrow and Mandela effectively had six plus phalanges and only kind of remembered having five.
Wanna know something wild?
It’s a common LSD trope that while tripping hands are weird.
Like… it’s hard to explain. But you can almost see them the way AI seems to see hands.
@@jackroyaltea5034 that's wild. What a strange correlation.
It looks hilariously awesome but those shots of Wall Market and Gold Saucer are STUNNING.
The honeybee dance sequence was the best part of the movie ngl
A.I. imagery may still screw up with hands, fingers, and toes, but this is still way freaking awesome
Marlene must have got some Mako poisoning cause she's got six fingers!
Did you see Tifa's hand in the image before? 😅
@@GianlucaMurru no, but the one with Cait Sith was hilarious. He's got like, two thumbs and 5 or 6 fingers. Awesome.
::edit:: okay, I went back and looked at Tifa's hand. Wow. It's amazing how detailed and realistic faces look, but this AI just can't figure out the hands.
tifa has like 8 haha
Cloud has like 10 when he's holding materia in Wutai
MIDJOURNEY
They took his memories, now he'll take their lives. "It's knights of the round time, suckers."
Starring David Bowie as Cloud Strife.
4:56 I'm in love with Yuffie now
This banged. It's a really nice feeling, tracing these images back to childhood nostalgia and then seeing them reframed and produced in such a way that they feel like reality.
I have a feeling, this hardedged versions Nibelheim incident was not a pretty sight... wow. Sephiroth looks flat out scary.
So many of these sceneries and characters looks sooo badass and cool. Ugh! i want this as a movie now !
Truth. There was probably some scary imagery from this.
Dude i alao want to watch this. 8 w8sh Hollywood would get the fucking hint and give us that kind of movie again.
I hope the creators of FF7 will see this one day.
So... this is scratching an itch I didn't even know I had. I see so many movie inspirations in this reel: Conan, Legend, Mad Max, Blade Runner, Bloodsport, Dune, Brazil... fascinating!
I like how practical and Gold Saucer looks like Mad Max beyond thunder dome. Feels like some kind of weird Mandela effect going on here.
In a other Parallel Univers, this Move exist !!
Love it!
Yeah if final fantasy was a flim series, over a game one, but the flim we did get sucks.
Best 6 minutes I’ve spent in a while. I could feel some of those pictures and the parts of the game. This was amazing - I could see that design of Midgar working in another FF title. Awesome use of AI! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
If I had the resources I would make this movie happen.
How are these images even generated? I'm so ready to watch this movie!! Damn near everything was spot on for that style
They feed the parameters and source images then the AI fills the gaps using algorithms.
For instance the AI creates a random desert image based on millions of desert pictures it was "taught" then they say this a face and this is hair and the ai does the same.
Other the one picture that I noticed Cloud had too many fingers on one hand, I thought these were from some other 80s movie then photo-shopped. Then I realized that these must have been made with AI... it just looks amazing that they took this IP back to the Golden age of cinema, and did it justice.
Jenova looks creepy as ever. And They still managed to capture the grim dark look, while having Vincent's red cowl pop out.
@@lmeza1983 yeah but is this ai publically available?? Wanna try out some stuff of me own, of which is gonna be the natural inclination of the public at large
The Tifa dolphin punch got me 😆
No lie, I would 100% watch this. That would be amazing.
I just keep coming back to this because of how incredibly awesome it is, both visuals and music.

I've seen other 'as an 80s' movie videos but this one really looks like a movie from the 80s, Cloud looks 80s as it can be.
As a real FFVII fan in can only say....
I want this!!!!!
I am absolutely blown away 😳 I. have. To. See. More! I would pay double theater price to see a full length feature exactly as it is here, with audio of course.. on second thought I'd even be fine with it just having a musical score and decent subtitles. The imagery and feel is so perfect. Its like 1980's Dune, Bladerunner, and Labyrinth all got mashed together into one amazingly perfect creation. This is the FF7 movie I have been waiting most of my life for!
I love this comment dude, thank you
I wonder if one day ai will be able to make a full length film by describing what the synopsis of the movie is about and ai would make a live action movie with these type of characters
Wow. Just wow…. AI made this?! 😮 I got chills the whole time. Wouldn’t it be nostalgic if someone made a FF7 movie like that?
This is shockingly good. Square should take a look at this for Inspiration. Just a few more years and a.i. will make a movie or playable Game Out of this.
Marlene be drinking too much Mako-infused water I see!
This gives me power ranger movie vibes with a bit of Ghostbusters. I wasn't born in the 90 but I did love the style and art direction
You have no idea how badly I want this to exist.
This is something straight out of Jim Henson's vision.
HOLY SHIT that was totally incredible. This looks a lot like what Amano original drawings pictured, especially Cloud
1985 Vincent played by Bruce Campbell, huh?
Groovy...
Lol, that's true.
Also Cloud looks like Dolph Lundgren
3:11 I like that Sephiroth reading in the Shinra manor's basement library
It hurts to know this film could exist and does not.
Maybe is just a matter of time, we aren't so far away from totally AI generated films.
I was smoking and watching a bunch of these AI generated pictures and wonder if maybe the AI is pulling these from an alternate dimension where its actually real.
I gotta stop smoking so much 😂
I can't believe I can recognize the characters you conjured from AI devilry.
I never knew I needed this movie until now.
Breath taking. The imagery is uncanny. This needs to be made. Get this shit in front of someone who can invest and make it happen.
Dolphin Blow was my favorite!
Ai art at it's finnest with the mighty Sephiroth holding the fire dick sword of nothingness 2:55
Waiting on FF6 made into an 80s film next... 👍
why not all ff games made into a movie. :D
sure! but let´s VIII be the first
it would fit the vibe sooo well!
This made me really miss the 80s movie aesthetic....cause I desperately need this to be real lol. But yeah, this was amazing. I knew exactly what part of the game each image was from. Great job!
Hojo at 2:28 looks dead on perfect
I was just about to write that!
AI art is controversial but you cant deny this is truly an artform. This is like FF7 in Star wars style
5:02 "Your eyes can be so cruel! Just as I can be so cruel!" 🎶
The 80 was my teen years. Seeing this cracks me up.
This is incredible! I feel like I've really seen a whole movie and it was a reallh cool one! Amazing job manipulating AI to do this. The best I did was a quasi recognizable Cloud blob.
That dolphin is sure...a dolphin
Looking forward to seeing the next part! Almost every image was instantly recognizable! Loved how badass bugenhagen looked
All these 80s AI film renders complete me in a way I didn't know I needed.
This was incredible spot on!
I can't wait for the future. I hope 2007 looks like Final Fantasy 7
These are absolutely spot on
This is very cool. It turned out something on the level of the original Star Wars. The style of those years had its own charm.
saddest part is, in 100 years, no one will catch this vibe anymore
I was so engrossed in my childhood movie that I didn't notice the finger thing everyone else was talking about. Like seriously, some of these shots are exactly how I saw it in my brain
This is truly incredible work.
Damn, screaming Barrett is accurate for how he came across in game. Just perfect.
Can't wait for Disk 2! This is truly amazing 80's aesthetic for FF7!
I just friggin love all the different creative threads this franchise has sparked across the world.
Holy crap, that was mind blowing! Thank you for bringing this into the world but also I hate you for making me wish for something I can never have. I grew up in the 80's and this hits the nail on the head so hard...
Maybe one day we’ll be able to actually generate a movie like this. Exciting times, scary times too.
I'm a big Final Fantasy VII fan since 1997, the art you created with the AI is so good compared to the real Final Fantasy VII, it's insane how good it looks, i love it so much! Thanks you for creating this, i watched it a few times in a row.
I really hope that you will do the remaining disks of this game, looking forward to your work! Much appreciated 😆
The first song used in the background is absolutely superb! I learned about Karl Casey through that ... Definitely completes this amazing vibe. I'd watch this movie over playing any remake games.
5:11 Nice!!
Given that FF7 came out in 1997, a movie based on it that was shot in 1985 would've been a really impressive bit of prophecy! 😉
Brings tears to my eyes. Well done. Let’s get some 80’s Xenogears in the thread!!!
Look, all I’m saying is, if Square Enix produced this film, it’d be the greatest apology for the atrocity which was ‘Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within’.
HOLY GUACAMOLE I'M IN LOVE WITH MY FAVOURITE GAME AGAIN 😍 - Really, you're the best. Thanks for making and sharing!
I really think the Remake could've benefitted from a healthy dose of a totally fresh interpretation, which is what this is. The high drama, the gritty fantasy darkness, steampunkish aesthetics heck even the hairstyles work surprisingly well here!
I just know that I need a full version
The remake was generic and sterile
Agreed. You can also 100% tell no one is going to die.
They're making it more child friendly and safe than the original story. They couldn't even add a trail of blood leading to Jenova. Completely backwards remake removing anything actually badass or having stakes and worries for the characters.
Seeing this video makes me more upset about the "remake".
I think in 10 years time if not sooner we will be able to create movies with AI or recreate our dreams, it's gonna be insane.
This is way cooler then the original version. Wow
