Broke my left foot 6 weeks ago. Started off with a splint from urgent care. Got in to see the Orthopedic doctor 4 days later. They put it in a hard cast. My first cast i picked a dark blue they used a black stocking with it. I was told to come back two weeks later to change it since they get dirty. I changed it and picked purple like this one with a black stocking for it. Then i had my 4 week check up. They said they could put me in a boot for another 2 weeks none weight bearing. They put me in a splint until my insurance approved the boot. A week went by, still no boot so i just got another hard cast for more protection. I choose pink this time. They used a white stocking for it. Hopefully the last time i get a cast. I'm so tired of being in a hard cast and having to use a knee scooter or wheelchair to get around. I'll never take walking for granted.
I broke my foot 2 weeks ago and got a blue cast on yesterday! I really enjoyed watching them put it on aswell as the warmth of the coloured wrap as it had just been dipped in the warm water! Very fascinating how the material can go from soft to hard so quickly!
Just had a fibreglass cast, I have boney feet they never put extra padding on my boney parts and wrapped round my toes so tight . Really thinking I need to get this checked and redone as it's more pain than the op,
Greetings everyone I want to appreciate Dr Oba for curing my HERPES am so thankful he is also specialise on different type of diseases you can contact him on ua-cam.com/channels/ZoYUFJ13lolG2Kz0MqomPg.html
I had a blue cast on my left leg for my broken ankle back in late March 2012. I did had a choice of colors of the cast. I picked blue which is my favorite color. I had to put my foot on this bar when the cast was being done around my ankle and leg.
The Fiberglass part of it will cut off circulation if you have someone inexperienced put it on too tightly. I had that happen and had to go back to get it loosened cause my foot was turning purple like that scene in willy wonka.@@caleezy7266
Its placed in water so that it can start hardening. When its rolled up its still maneuverable and not hard which is why its rolled up. So once you place it in water it starts its hardening process as it dries.
today 16/8/23 got this cast. dr applied start from ankle to below knee. said partial weight bearing after 6 month ilizarov support. now feel little bit uncomfortable. is it normal?
Numc doctors are horrible at applying these cast my foot is swollen and my heal is being pushed up by the poor cast molding. Should i wet the cast to loosen it
Watching this as unintentional asmr, i was falling asleep around 3:05 🤭🤭 and when she said "a couple of squeezes out the water" i nodded my head and said ok, but then woke up by catching myself doing that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I fractures my ankle and have a followup in 2 days, the nurse aid wheeling me back and forth said I will likely need a cast. i had a cast at 3 from a dislocated arm but dont remember. This will be my 1st cast as an adult (37) and I am kinda nervous about it so I am looking at the procedure here.. I still thought casts were made with plaster of paris haha..
How did it go, any suggestions with the cast at age 37 and myself 44 😭, think i need to go get one today, I’m 9 days is but I’m thinking I should go get a cast.
The possibility center As far as I’m aware they cut casts off so you’re protected underneath from being cut if they’re 2 later of bandages underneath also the plaster they put on drys to be hard as a rock so if they would put it directly on skin they would probably pull a layer of skin off so all in all it’s safer to put 2 layers on first, hope this helps :)
I honestly think they apply two layers cuz my friend showed me a pic of her arm after it came out of the cast and it was basically rotten even with two layers
THE TWO LAYERS ARE MADE OF E.T. MATERIAL THAT WONT ALLOW THE CUTTING BLADE TO CUT YOUR SKIN WHEN TAKING OFF THE CAST, ALSO, ITS TO ABSORB WATER IF YOU ACCIDENTLY WALK THROUGH A LAKE AND IT GETS WET, AND FINALLY , YOU CAN REUSE THE CAST WHEN YOU BREAK THE BONE AGAIN. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Considering the point of a cast is to immobilize the limb, its also implied that it must be tight… Securing it from the top of the limb (proximal) to the end (distal) would remove all possibility for the body to move the fluids out of the distal part as its “squished” down. Casts shouldnt be tight enough to completely stop the cardiovascular/lymphatic system from doing their jobs, but if you “squish” from the top down, you push more fluid down and make it more difficult for those systems to do their job properly (leading to edema (swelling))… Example: take a balloon, if you want to remove the air from it you push from the bottom (distal) to the top (proximal). TL;DR: you would want to put the tight fitting cast on from the bottom of the limb first, then continue up to allow the body the best chance to do its job.
Just had a purple cast done like this on my right foot/leg and so sick of having casts I've broken my 2nd, 3rd 4th & 5th metatarsal this time, this is now the 7th time I've broken my right foot & have broken my left 6 ffs I tried a moon boot since Xmas day but it didn't help so now a cast for 4-8 weeks as my bones take so long to heal due to having cancer in the bones
Benecast Select Polyester. They mainly use fiberglass which is what that looks like they really don't use plaster cast anymore. @PublicAccessPATV Casts are general put on thicker, I think they put a lighter one on because it's not real so to speak. Also if your cast is a walking cast it must be thicker so that it has the strength for weight bearing.
I might get this cast and I need reassurance from someone that got this done. DOES THIS HURT? Cuz I'm kinda scared. I've got a broken tibea and fibea and my fibea is broken in 2 places. PLEASEEEE TELL MEH
this cast is too high and will dig into the popliteal space, synthetic padding is the worst, it slips inside the cast causing blisters , and you casted over the tibial tuberosity, bad juju. never, never, never work proximal to distal. c-, poor job

fracture in lateral aspect of the left foot. they plastered it properly but my left leg muscle are hurting very badly 😢😢

The padding should be done diagonally ; not to cut off blood circulation and distal-proximal; flowing blood to the heart
Padding will never cutoff circulation because webril breaks when pulled too tight

What if they don’t do a soft edge on your cast? What if they don’t know what they are doing?

Hop iy out there fast snd buy your own this is all available on Amazon
There should always be soft edges so the fiberglass doesnt cut into the skin.

How to open after recovery?
You should start proximal and work distal. Why....edema
Actually you should always work distal to proximal!
Considering the point of a cast is to immobilize the limb, its also implied that it must be tight…
