Would be interesting to see some data on what customers prefer, In 2018 what is the best strategy? Implement google pay, paypal and stripe? or maybe skip some step? Not everyone want's to make a google account. Would be really cool to see some statistics as this is a tricky thing to get right. Originally I was leaning towards only using stripe but I really love this google pay system.
Hi Zora. There is strong evidence suggesting that reducing the complexity and number of steps in online checkout processes is key to reduce payment abandonment. Using technologies like Google Pay, you are simplifying the process for your users by taking away the need to fill out a payment form, or removing the need for your users to create new accounts.
Google Pay does not replace your payment processor. You still need a payment processor or gateway (like Stripe) to process your payment.

Hi Jacques. There are some sub-products under Google Pay. What's covered in this video is the online APIs, or in other words, a way for users to pay online using cards saved under Google Pay. Not for now, but in future I think yes. On developers section on google, there is also an example with bitcoin. But I really hope for interledger protocol implementation for paymentMethod.

Google Pay makes online payments easier and more secure by exchanging card information under your Google account with your payment gateway of choice, whenever your customers make a payment on your website or application. Hi Noah! You can already leverage Google Pay online APIs to allow your users and customers to pay in your site, or to pay in web and mobile applications with support for Google Pay. If you are rather interested on paying in-stores using Google Pay, this is not available yet in Switzerland. Interesting, but how its communicate with all these newly built emerging Wallet Service, I mean "Cross App Transaction"; let's say someone is chatting/communicating from 'Google Allo to WhatsApp' while using the internet (forget encryption, that could be considered later on)......!!!
That's why we Indians use UPI. It supports cross platform transactions (PhonePe to Paytm, no problem) Almost every Indian wallet now recognise UPI. Use UPI and it'll be all a breeze. Instant payment, done. Out of your bank, done. Thinking about your user data?? All the data is in hand of npci ( National payments Corporation of India) an Indian government entity.
So east or west UPI is the best.

Hi Storm! Thank you for the info. It's also relevant to note that users may already be logged in to Google, for example through Google Chrome, or any other Google service such as Gmail or UA-cam. In these situations, paying with Google Pay does not need a new sign in, and therefore, the payment experience is even more convenient.
PayPal is different from Google Pay in a number of ways. PayPal for example takes care of processing the payment, whereas Google Pay helps your users utilize their previously saved cards to pay in your site, but the processing of the payment still happens through a payment processor or gateway.
Paypal is annoying to me. You need to remember its account and take care of it. GPay is by far the simpliest form of paying for Android devices - active Android users have it enabled anyway already nad it doesn't need logging in - having your Andoird device logged in to Google account works as the "authorisation" step, so that the process is one click job for the user. I dunno how it works from Desktop, but if you are making a mobile app that needs payments - go for it! :)
You can't pay with PayPal in local stores
Google Pay should be widely available to Bangladesh as we don't have PayPal. And customers should've easy service to load their balance.
Oh poor Babu?? Crying for Google pay. We Indians use UPI(unified payment interface) far better, easier. Pay instantly & directly from your bank (no need to do wallet recharge), even accepts cross platform transaction.
So tell your government to lend the UPI system from Indian Government. So you don't need cry for payment interfaces.

Hello ASBA Webies! You can still add Google Pay to native applications developed using cross-platform frameworks or libraries as long as you can write platform specific native code. Here is some documentation on Flutter about that: flutter.io/docs/development/platform-integration/platform-channels.

This is actually not true. You can register PayPal in GPay app, then disable internet and still succesfully perform payment in a shop. You get only email from PayPal, no PayPal or GPay confirmation. No internet connection required. Tested. Seems that shop's terminal initiate transaction with Processor (PayPal) and this is enough to process payment succesfully. The transaction does not appear in GPay activity list. It will appears in PayPal history.
I guess they could've called it Google PayPI. Ok sorry that was a bad pun.

If you are using Ionic to write your application, you'll need to make use of native plugins (cordova.apache.org/docs/en/latest/guide/platforms/android/plugin.html ) on Android in order to integrate Google Pay in your application (note that at the moment we do not maintain a library on iOS). For Java and Kotlin you can follow the Android tutorial in our dev docs (developers.google.com/pay/api/android/overview ).

Ahahah... that's great!! A lot of people doesn't understand this API is a future of all web payments standard. The base API came from w3c, and Google Pay like Samsung Pay and all services that use Pay as keyword are working on the same API, same protocol..
