In NY the mayor is a Democrat. Of the 51 city council seats 46 are held by Democrats. The AG is a Democrat. The DA is a Democrat. The Police Commissioner is appointed by the mayor. The issues NYC is having are the fault of the Democratic Party.
The most recent Republican mayor of New York City served from 1994-2001.

About 40 years ago (1981) NYC settled a legal suit (Callahan vs Carey) with a Consent Decree that requires the city to provide shelter for every homeless man requesting it. Further suits expanded that to women, children, families. It basically enshrined this form of basic socialist policy into law.
It’s in their state constitution. Idiots obviously never considered this would happen. Virtue signaling always sounds good.

So, I have been a citizen of the US since birth. Have raised a 26 year old son. Paid a ton of money in taxes at age 51. Struggled to support my father during hospice before he passed away. Never had foodstamps. Had unemployment insurance once for 5 weeks. And now, due to circumstances, I am struggling to pay my light bill. I'm begging to get work and can't find a job. (Was out of work for 6 years taking care of my father who passed April 2023) And our government officials are GIVING debit cards to people who have never once paid a single dime in taxes. Or contributed to this country in any way but breaking our laws? And they wonder why we are voting for Trump. Look around. I love how he threw in homeless people in that clip. The interviewer should have asked if the homeless in New York, Americans, are getting a debit card. The answer is NO. They are paying a migrant population for votes.And before anyone says they can't vote, go look into the law they are trying to pass, allowing illegals to vote in municiple elections. Not to mention, illegals are counted in census data. Which does skew the electoral map and representation in Congress. It's all in the game plan to pull the rug from under citizens and bring in a new voter class dependent on the left. It's so horribly wrong and against the foundation the country was built on.

Our American homeless have to line up at soup kitchens and dig thorough trash, or hope someone is generous enough to purchase them something but illegal immigrants gets a debit card with tax payer money.
Is there a legal way to stop paying our state taxes? I'd like to start withholding my tax contributions if the state doesn't spend it in a way the majority of us see fit. That should go for Federal, too. Decisions are being made that go against what's best for our nation, our taxpayers (citizen and non citizen). This is some serious B.S.

@rickwhitman6435 That's what I'm thinking, but the trick is to get everyone to stop paying. People already believe that "getting money back" is awesome. Personally, I'd like to charge interest, compound, for every day they held my pay from me. Obviously, they'd laugh in my face if I sent them a bill. I'm glad I changed my withholdings to basically balance out, but it's mathematical acrobatics sometimes. One thing is for definite, I am over for paying for those who aren't even trying to do it right and those that take advantage of the system.
For so maney score of years federal income tax was illegal. I suspect a state income tax was a follow -on, just as illegal to. As I see it the only people that should be walking around, hat in hand begging for money are most of the politicians. They have too much quick source of monies to wastefully spend. New York has right to shelter and food laws that make it illegal to have a homeless, hunger person. The municipality, and consequently the taxpayers, is obligated to pay for their food and shelter.

In the law books, under immigration laws, there is a requirement for anyone wishing to stay in the USA, as either a guest or potential immigrant, to have the means to support themselves while they are in the country. Every country has similar laws.

It's been 5yrs since me and my wife visited NYC for a short shopping holiday flying over from the UK. Something we have done on and off for over 30yrs. She asked me the other day if I would like to go back there in June. She got very annoyed when I started laughing my nuts off and didn't give her a answer.
