Absolute CLASS, parents had this album in the late 60s and was regularly played on those warm nights in Capetown, even though I would have only been about 7 or 8 I remember like yesterday. I've the Lee Ritenour cover Captain Bacardi from his Twist of Jobim CD... love it, love it, love it.... thanks again for another quality post, on all levels!!!
I will never live long enough to grow tired of listening to Tom Jobim....guaranteed. It is almost as if the music were part of the natural rhythm of my soul. I noticed in the comments that you said this was a reissue. It seems to be a very good one. And, if you had played a 67 copy, chances are it would be just about worn out by now considering the number of times you had likely listened to it previously. Keep 'em coming. Oh, and I agree with another comment, I would love to hear some more Tijuana Brass/Herb Alpert (while I am partial to his early works, I can't say I don't like his newer compositions as well).
Yes, it's a 2019 reissue, made in Europe. Usually i get disappointed with original pressings, especially from the 60s, i pay a significant ammount of money - usually much more expensive than a recent reissue - and in return i get a disc full of distortion and loads of surface noise that will not go away no matter how much i wash it. I got lucky one or twice but those are the exceptions, not the rule. In 2018 i made a previous video from this album, ua-cam.com/video/tTNbNsa2onM/v-deo.html but i used a different reissue, it's from a Russia based label, although i think the disc itself was made in the Czech Republic. Anyway, i think this one sounds a bit better. Herb Alpert, yeah, what i need is a good copy of "Rise", and then you'll have a video for sure. At the moment i don't have any of his albums... unforgiven, i know... 😶
@@MrVinylObsessive I understand exactly what you mean. It can be a no-win at times. I just received the Dire Straits Studio Albums box set and I also have the original vinyl. The reissues seem to have the vocals overpowered by the instruments, but the sound quality is better as there is no surface noise or the typical pops you get from 30 years of playing the record (and the way I love Dire Straits, they were played a lot). As for Herb Alpert, the only vinyl I have left after all these years is Whipped Cream, but it certainly has noise as one of my favorite songs of all time is "Taste of Honey" which caused me to play that LP over and over, so I have relied on CDs for most of my Tijuana Brass and Herb Alpert listening since then. A good copy of "Rise" would be nice. I think I will start looking. Thank you.

I love this album... Picked up my copy last summer thanks to the previous video you made from Wave, and it's been one of my most played records since then!
Yeah, the copy from the other video was a reissue from a Russian label, this one is a A&M reissue made in Europe, sounds a tad better, not a huge difference but still.. A curious detail about "Captain Bacardi": it was an homage to Jobim's brother in law. 😏
@@MrVinylObsessive Very cool - I managed to find a US original pressing with the red picture. The same store had a late '70s reissue too, but the original sounded better to me, plus I really wanted the authentic label. My 11 year old daughter loves listening to it to wind down at the end of the day!
Hola Rui! Volviste a tu viejo amor?.... Excelente música y grabación , el sonido es muy rico , dinámico y detallado. Jobim siempre sofisticado pero jamás ostentoso. Me gustó la edición divertida con los cambios y el juego interesante de los títulos.
Gracias, Roberto.
How did I miss this video ?! wave is one of the maestro's favorite albums! I'm also preparing a video, but it will be a different track))) thank you!!!

Perfeito demais! Tom Jobim é tudo de bom! Obrigado Rui!
Obrigado!
I also have both a CD and a vinyl, CD sounds tooth solid without delicacy.
Vinyl is so much better.
But your system is so far out!
Gorgeous !
Thanks, I'm pleased you liked it.
Absolutely Superb!!!!!

Simply awesome. Ever thought about recording a whole album?
Full albums are more likely to be blocked by UA-cam due to copyright, so it's not good for the channel.

great audio! what's your setup? my turntable doesn't come close to sounding this good even with good headphones and preamp/amp
It's a Rega P3, and on this video i used a Shure M91ED with a Jico SAS stylus. I also used a iFi iPhono 2 phono stage.
How about some Herb Albert?
Yes, i want to do that, but first i must get a Herb Alpert album because i have none.
