Awesome session. Rocked it. So many points of lighting techniques that never made sense. The way this session is done allowed me to have "ah ha" moments. Gaven you are the man. Chloe you are the "Cats Meow" . Chloe's expressions are spot on for this type of imagery. Chloe's wardrobe is perfect and classy. These images would be excellent movie posters. We could call the movie "Femme Fatal". The window blind shots would be covers for pulp fiction detective books. The way these shots are composed generates the feelings of power, confidence and control. Well done by the entire team.
Another great and educational video from Gavin. I been afraid of using bare speedlites and now I know I shouldn't. Chloe was amazing and beautiful. Great pictures Gavin.
I am VERY new and still trying to find my niche. I think i have watched 90% of your videos for inspiration!! Wish me luck, a week from today, I've rented a space for 48 hours of photography and my entire family and friends are coming to be my "models" (maybe not ideal to have non professional models, but its what i have!) Every one of the 4 scenes i have set up are variations of things I've seen on your videos! Thank you so much for your hard work!!
gavin - you're the man. i'm a photographic dilettante with little knowledge on how to go about producing images on this scale.thanks.you're presenting style is excellent.
Gavin doesn't run out of ideas and solutions. Bdw love that transparent plastic sheet photo shoot. Great going, love you always. Warm Regards from North East India.
Always like this type of photo shoot Gavin they look interesting and are great on the eye you can have great fun with all the setups that you can think of
I was trying to take low key shots yesterday, but I ran into some issues. I tried to use a light in front, with a grid so it would be a little darker, but with that on the other strobes wouldn't slave, so I ended up taking it off, which lightened the whole shot. The strobe on the left had barn doors, trying to be a hairlight. The strobe on the right I put a blue gel and aimed it at the background, but it was very pale. I find it really hard to do low key, but I'm going to keep practicing!
A grid will narrow the beam of light and if your "Slave" flashes are in the shade with their optical receivers facing away from the key light they won't fire. From memory the workarounds were hit and miss. Honestly, radio transmitters are game changers 😉
@@GavinHoey Thank you! I was at school practicing today and it was the same thing. So, I guess pros would use transmitters on all the strobes. Makes, sense, because you need to be confident they're firing. :)
Great lighting as always. You are definitely one of the best online teachers in photography. I really love what you, Sam and Freya are doing! It seems that you are in your desaturated colour phase with editing 😊 To me it looks as if Cloe is sick. In Germany we say: neither fish nor meat 😅 I think I‘d prefer a proper B&W.
What you see in the videos and the various different angles I use when editing the video together should give you a pretty good idea of distance. If it helps, my studio is only 15 feet wide, so you can be sure it's less then that 😉
love the video and images.. great concept. where is that particular snoot found? cant seem to find it in the description and or on the site. I would have the typical rectangular speed light head. thanks Gavin..keep up the fantastic videos
dude.... while your videos are absolutely GREAT (presentation, subject matter, execution, and the like) im not sure anyone could take a bad picture of @chloekmodel! fabulous shoot...
Does anyone else like the video before watching? Gavin is a great teacher
Thanks for the preemptive 👍
He truly is such a great teacher
I do
I've been binge watching for weeks and I "like" each one before it even starts so that I don't forget!!
Most impressed and reminded me is that Gavin used affordable gear yet came out with amazing pictures.
It's incredible how gavin is able to create very original photos with a little set of accessories
Gran maestro con explicaciones técnicas de manera clara y didáctica.
Saludos desde Mexico City.

Fit an extractor fan! My 20' x 10' studio has an a/c unit at one end and an extractor at the other, using both clears smoke PDQ.
Another great and educational video from Gavin. I been afraid of using bare speedlites and now I know I shouldn't. Chloe was amazing and beautiful. Great pictures Gavin.
I understand your worries about bare flash and it can be a problem... unless you have a plan 😉
I always learn something from Gavin. I try to watch his video when I can since it has great information. Thanks.
Thanks Joseph, keep watching and learning 👍

Amazing video Gavin.
Love it from Germany🎉
What a brilliant video.😊
Thanks Paul 👍
Great tutorial! THX
Hi Gavin, nice as always!! but maybe its useful in these setting to give rough an idea of the distance the flash source has to object in the picture

New camera?
Congratulations.. 🎉
Old camera and not mine, but very nice to play with 👍
Nice one Gavin

@@GavinHoey Thanks... I didnt even see that.. lol.. guess it helps to read. lol thank you
Ooooh! I love this!
Should have put an orange gel on the light through the blinds, for a street light effect - given the angle.
love the video
Great stuff!
Sir Always learn something new from you when upload video.❤❤❤❤
Good stuff. Thank you.
Thank you!
Super cool
Thanks Mark 👍
Why are you shooting with these settings? ISO 200 F8 1/250?
Can you create something with color smoke
Very useful! Thank you Gavin, Chloe and Team! ❤
By the way, I really like Chloe, but will there be a video with Sophie again?
Spoiler alert... Stay tuned Chris, you might want to see one of my upcoming video(s) 😉
@@GavinHoey 🤗
Is a hard light directional. And if it got harder would it be polarized and yet still harder lights get synchronized?
no longer shooting with Olympus/OM System, Gavin?
did you switch to sony gavin?
I did... For this video. I've also tried Fuji recently. It's always good to try new things every now and then 😉
How does the camera picture look so dark even though the lights are on inside? (not the speed light)
