    came across your video as i purchased the CCM cafe racer exhaust to fit on my BMW cafe race project for this years bike shed show and wanted to see what the exhaust looked like, i now live on cotswolds, but was born and spent my most of my life in kendal, so i immeadiately spotted you pottering around milnthorpe road and a good blast up shap road and back down grayrigg road, great video and hope your still enjoying the CCM

    I'm getting mine hopefully in the next two weeks. What is the best maintenance practices you have found. Where is bad for corrosion, and needs some extra love during cleaning sessions?

    • @RGillPhotography
      @RGillPhotography  4 роки тому

      You're gonna love it. Maintenance is vey much the same as with any bike. The parts I have found were you need to pay bit more attention is inside the front and rear axle to make sure no waiter is left in them when you put it away for the day. Alos around the top of the radiator if you are having a radiator guard. Other than that most of the bike is very accessible and easy to clean and dry.

    Hi, what sort of miles do you get to a tank full ? Also when the fuel light comes on how many miles til empty ?
    I just bought a limited spitfire number 23 out of 150.
    Cheers
    Andrew

      Somewhere around 120? I find the light comes on at about 100 depending how enthusiastically you have been riding. I am not quite sure how many miles you get after the light comes on as I always go to the nearest filling station I think it will be about 20. So far I have not run out of fuel 😀🤞

      Thanks for the reply, I ride mine 'safely' and get late 80s to early 90s out of a tank. I rang CCM and they said between 80 and 100 all depending how you use it, interestingly though they advised to fill up as soon as the fuel light comes on as the tank is shaped in such a way that the engine can't pick up all of the fuel as it lays in a dip at the bottom of the tank so although it appears there is fuel left, there isn't !
      I'm going to take a small jerry can out with me and run out just to see what she'll do on empty, I'll let you know.
      Great informative videos by the way.
      Thanks
      Andrew

    Hi Richard, It would be great if you could do some footage on the proximity keys and how to recode them. Is there any particular brand to use?

    • @RGillPhotography
      @RGillPhotography  3 роки тому

      Hi Den. That's a good suggestion and something to do while the weather is not suitable for riding. It has been covered a few times in the facebook group and if you want to see how it is done check out this post facebook.com/724038858/videos/10156207412223859/

    I ride a DR650 Suzuki, comparable with the CCM to an extent. Living in Scandinavia makes it a bit difficult to buy one, but it's the bike I'm most interested in. There's just one thing - I do easy country touring and need a rack on my bike. It doesn't seem easy to affix one in this one, or what do you think?

    • @RGillPhotography

      Markku the RAF Benevolent fund version is the only one wiht a factory fitted option www.ccm-motorcycles.com/bikes/raf-spitfire-100/ I have seen a few people on the CCM Spitfire facebook forum who have done some touring on their Spitfires. I think they are mainly using tank bags, back pack (rucksack) or crash bar bags. H J Samuel who has some video on UA-cam also rode his bike to Morocco. ua-cam.com/video/6Q18yXQZ6Mo/v-deo.html

    How much was the flat bar conversion including the headlight unit please?

    • @RGillPhotography
      @RGillPhotography  3 роки тому

      £250 + vat and then you need to add the cost of the bars which will depend on the style you choose. I went for the flat bars (same as on the original) as I felt these suited the CR style best. Sorry I cant remember how much they were, I think around £60-70? I think it is cheaper if you have it done when you order the bike as you don't have to have the clip ons removed they will fit the flat bars during production.

      The fuel warning light comes on approximately after 100 miles and I usually refill soon after.
