It had inaccuracies,.... always wise to check the real historical facts when it comes to docudrama movies, which typically have various degrees of artistic license.
For one thing his name is pronounced wrong - it's not Boolow-knee, like 'Chipotle', .... in French its Buloinnn-eh
In addition, the regiment he commanded was not 'all black' 1000 men. In fact it started off as a company of 100 Black soldiers, but more importantly it grew into a regiment of mostly white troops. That was a rarity, but not unheard of, as half a century earlier, Russia had one of its most senior commanders, a Black general 'Gammibal'.
And, no,.... Mozart was not in a feud with the Chevalier.

@@hortleberrycircusbround9678 Well actually - since the start of commercial movies, most historical drama movies were revisionism crap - ie, Birth of a Nation's far right garbage..... so, I don't think we can say CHEVALIER's own distorted rubbish is actually anything new to the film industry.

It's best if when one sees these 'history movies', that they double check actual historical sources to see how much truth was in the movies.

Don't be cute. Mozart is a billion times the more important composer and none of your well wishes will make Bologne any better than he is .....which is an average classical composer.

@@marcboss2670funny! The Pope gave Mozart the "Chevalier " title...Mozart was 14 years old. Bologne composed nothing on the level.of Mozart so please stop your revisionism.

Perhaps there will come a day when George Joseph Chevalier will be known for his greatness, and not as somebody who, "despite his skin color" excelled. He was brilliant, a beautiful soul, an example all children can look up to.

'They' was Napoleon, during his systemic anti-Black policies in France. Chevalier had many white friends, all the way to the end of his life, which the movie ignores. Britain had a somewhat talented Black violinist too around the same time.

He was NOT the black Mozart.
Mozart was the white Joseph Bologne- Chavalier, de St. Joseph (if you judge by age and influence)

For some reason it may bring you joy writing that but know it has zero roots in truth and if you seriously sat down and analyzed both artists scores it would be abundantly clear what history has told you: Mozart is by far the greater composer in every way. Class dismissed, thank you.

    • @keithbell9348
      @keithbell9348 8 місяців тому

@hortleberrycircusbround9678 Sorry to tell you (you won't accept this anyway), but this class is not dismissed. I did the serious research and have reciepts to back it up. Truth be told, many have come to the conclusion that Joesph Chevalier was indeed an inspiration for Mozart. Look up an article written by Lisa Herndon, from Shomburg Communications and Publishings. That is IF you have the patience and discipline to do so, the article is a bit lengthy. That's because Lisa did all the investigative footwork. She cites numerous references to support her findings.
There is no argument in how Mozart, unappreciated at the time, went on to become the greatest composer of his generation. But at the time his contributions were not appreciated.
Same as all the remarkable contributions Joseph Chavalier did for music in that classical period were also deliberately ignored- yes white washed- down thru time.
There is also no doubt that Wolfgang's talents were inspired by others. One being- it brings me no joyful mirth, but it has to be pointed out- Joseph Chavalier.
Also, neither one of them made the top 10 list of the world's greatest composers, if that brings YOU some shred of relief. I found that surprising, but willing to accept it.
Now here is your turn. Go home, do your research, and come back with a counter argument based on research that you found. The door to this "class room" is always open.

I wonder what the actress who play the queen Marie-Antoinette can share with us about her character from his opinion and how she work the acting. Because the character of the queen is really mean even the actress would judge her if she look the end product in finale. But she really create a good performance. All the actor did a great job. The scene where Chevalier lose his temper is really create a real tension conflict impact to me : I felt the angry mess and fear about what would happen. And we could be really angry against Versailles court for mistreat Chevalier.

can't wait to see but man there are a lot of liberates taken here. Mozart was a child and refused to go see him perform when he was about 5 and chevalier an adult, and they supposedly never met. he did write opera's, but they ALL flopped, think his first one closed after the first night was so bad. the fencing one is taken straight from a famous painting of him fencing a trans woman in a dress in England www.princeton.edu/~graphicarts/rowlandson%20new3-thumb.jpg
