Beautiful dive and cook up Kerry. Conditions looked amazing and so much nice shellfish. In Europe octopus as considered prime eating. Do you take any for the pot? I'm heading to NZ soon for a job and looking forward to sampling some of the delights from the ocean 😄 cheers mate
Yeah I like eating octopus but they take a long time to cook and I was living out of my vehicle while I shot this video and didn't have the means to cook them properly so decided to leave them to be...Cheers!!!
Hey mate can u please do a video of tasting the paua pear raw, honestly I didn’t eat them til I tried it, if u like scallops and oysters raw. Yup it’s just delicious.. I crave it now…
Harlem did come in and have a dive that day but he came in later and I wanted to make the most of the fantastic conditions in the early morning as it wasn't as good by the time he arrived...Cheers!!!
Do you tenderize the paua before frying it? When I lived in California many years ago we had to do that after slicing or it was super tough. You are getting your "money's worth" out of that old plastic jug you use as a float!!
Yeah so to tenderize I put the paua in a pot of boiling water for 30 seconds and then straight into a bowl of ice water, that does the trick nicely! Cheers!!!
@@KerryFlowers Wow, we used to beat them with a tenderizing hammer! Wish I would have known about your trick back then. BTW Abalone have been on the no take list in California for about the past 10 years or so.
At this time I've decided not to come to the south island for a bunch of reasons, definitely want to do a trip there in the future but want to make sure there is enough time to experience all that there is to offer...cheers!!!
