  • Vanuatu is gearing up for their first ever national referendum aimed at ending chronic instability in government. In 2023 the island nation was smashed by three tropical cyclones which put further pressure on a fragile economy. Political turmoil also saw three Prime Ministers in the space of a few weeks after a series of no confidence motions.
The Pacific headed to Port Vila to talk to locals and leaders who are frustrated with the state of the nation and it’s clear they want change.
Johnson Raela also speaks to former PM Ishmael Kalsakau about how the outcome of the referendum will impact Vanuatu.
