    Honestly that's probably not bad practice. I would think this could make a good first test during initial training in using this robotic system.

    This robot is definitely being used in the best way it could be.

    That's why working at institutes and unis can be so fun sometimes - you can just take a bilion dollar worth of equipment and fool around with it :D

    NOTE:
    The video demonstrates the remarkable level of precision and accuracy that the robot has, being able to render playing the game Operation relatively trivial.
    Then again, due to the robot not being grounded, a circuit would not be completed (of which lights up the nose) if the user made an error.

    @sirbruce1970 Good eye, the arm wasn't grounded. We just wanted to show the dexterity of the tools. We could have grounded the tool, but because this is a 2 million dollar research device, we decided not to. :D Cheers, Graduate Students at Johns Hopkins Engineering

    Would it have even buzzed if the side was touched? I think you need to do it again with the wire attached, which will of course void the warranty on your robot.

  • @sirbruce1970

    But... the robot isn't using the attached probe... so it won't complete the circuit... so even if it touches the sides it won't set off the buzzer...

    And doing stuff like that trains the technicians and demonstrates their versatility.

    • @davbhard
      @davbhard 9 років тому +2

      Michael Sheridan Why would it matter to you what I said? Why would you wait 3 months to cry about what someone else said, on a video made 4 years ago? Sounds like someone is mad they can't get a job? Textbook loser, whose going to end up homeless or sponging off his parent for the rest of their pathetic life.
      By the way, your "dojo master" videos and everything else on your page, actually make me think you'll turn out to be a fine human, and a great contributor to society.

      +David Von Raesfeld He may have been overzealous in saying what he did.. but the core of what he said is correct... Why say anything in the first place if you're "not going to say anything"?
      That's like being at a wedding, and when it is said, " Speak now, or forever hold your peace." You stand up, announce "I'm her ex boyfriend...but.... I won't say anything, because I could cause trouble."
      Why say something, if you aren't going to say something? I believe that is what the profane gentleman was trying to get across...albeit, in a meaner and less effective manner.
