People get confused when they're not from California, or live in LA. California is not only LA. And honestly "California Adventure" should be called "Hollywood Adventure" because the only thing in it that ever payed much of an homage to anywhere else was the original Soarin' over California. Ya they have the Bear Rapids or whatever and a lodge themed hotel but that's like "let's put some pine trees and bears and that represents everything up north, we're done!". The only desert thing is Cars and honestly there would be nothing to represent the desert there had Cars not happen to take place there. I will not be surprised when it becomes "Marvel Land".

In 2001, they built the DisneySea park in Japan, and it’s really amazing. They were only able to do it because the Japanese Disney parks are owned by a different company, and they were able to afford it at the time.

He had genuinely good ideas and could have done amazing things for the park, but ran into roadblocks like SARs or construction issues. He wasn't a great CEO. Eisner kept the company alive for quite a while with his overall management of the parks and his cornering of the home video market. That's why 2000s kids still grew up with 90s Disney. Even though their 2000s movies weren't doing so great, their home videos were a smash. During his time, their B-team animators also started making direct-to-video sequels to their classics at a low budget, which were also very successful. Eisner wasn't removed for being a bad CEO. Roy E. Disney had him ousted because he felt that Eisner didn't focus enough on making new theatrical animations.
Having been at the California Adventure shortly after opening, I can assure you, Superstar Limo was indeed absolute shit. "Do you recognize this weird celebrity animatronic? NOW LAUGH" Was pretty much the whole thing.

The only things that I approved of (circa 2015-18) was Grizzly Peak and Paradise Pier, the rest, well, they could’ve done much better. Then they did Pixar, Marvel, more Hollywood stuff, and the most egregious part was that it’s not even California, nor are they trying. LAY IN THE BED YOU MADE, MY GOD!!!! You can’t just un-represent California and still call it California Adventure. Good god it’s California adventure not “Intellectual Property and Also Hollywood and Also a Pier and Also a Bear Area That Has No Corporate Attachments For Some Reason.” It was a pretty mid idea in the first place, but it still had potential to be a good, fun, accurate (or even just satire) park. Some places *especially* PP would go great with a stereotypical/comedic representation of SoCal.

The worst Disney ride ever was the Lilo and Stitch attraction. It was fucking terrifying as a 6 year old. The whole “ride” was based on a rabid Stitch escaping his cage and running around the room while we’re all stuck strapped in our seats sitting in the dark. It lowkey traumatized me at the time. Apparently, it freaked out so many kids that they had to eventually shut down the attraction.

A lot of their works seem to be much more from the heart (when you aren’t just looking for porn…) and even when on much less of budgets, tend to produce much more visually appealing animation than Western cartoons that seem to be going for the ugliest looking characters they can nowadays. They have their own culture and they will rarely toss their values or creative direction to appease an audience that isn’t them- which tends to work out because us westerners absolutely ruin our own.

Eisner kept the company alive for quite a while with his overall management of the parks and his cornering of the home video market. That's why 2000s kids still grew up with 90s Disney. Even though their 2000s movies weren't doing so great, their home videos were a smash. During his time, their B-team animators also started making direct-to-video sequels to their classics at a low budget, which were also very successful. Eisner wasn't removed for being a bad CEO. Roy E. Disney had him ousted because he felt that Eisner didn't focus enough on making new theatrical animations.
Having been at the California Adventure shortly after opening, I can assure you, Superstar Limo was indeed absolute shit.

I miss the Rainforest Cafe, we used to have them in local malls when I lived in the city and they fucking vanished out of nowhere in the early 2000's or so. That place was SO fucking cool to eat at. Italian Bistro and Rainforest Cafe were two big go to's for me as a kid lol.

As a Californian who has been to Anaheim many times, the most offensive part of DCA is that they’re not even trying to represent us. The only things that I approved of (circa 2015-18) was Grizzly Peak and Paradise Pier, the rest, well, they could’ve done much better. Then they did Pixar, Marvel, more Hollywood stuff, and the most egregious part was that it’s not even California, nor are they trying. LAY IN THE BED YOU MADE, MY GOD!!!! You can’t just un-represent California and still call it California Adventure. Good god it’s California adventure not “Intellectual Property and Also Hollywood and Also a Pier and Also a Bear Area That Has No Corporate Attachments For Some Reason.”
It was a pretty mid idea in the first place, but it still had potential to be a good, fun, accurate (or even just satire) park. Some places *especially* PP would go great with a stereotypical/comedic representation of SoCal.

The worst Disney ride ever was the Lilo and Stitch attraction. It was fucking terrifying as a 6 year old. The whole “ride” was based on a rabid Stitch escaping his cage and running around the room while we’re all stuck strapped in our seats sitting in the dark. It lowkey traumatized me at the time. Apparently, it freaked out so many kids that they had to eventually shut down the attraction.

Yea I’m an animator and I definitely understand the place Disney has as a pioneer in animation history who made gorgeous high quality stuff but I don’t understand people who worship just the corporation the way they do

@@modeloman4568 I’m not exactly an otaku or weeabo or whatever, but I personally believe Japanese animation is better than Western.
A lot of their works seem to be much more from the heart (when you aren’t just looking for porn…) and even when on much less of budgets, tend to produce much more visually appealing animation than Western cartoons that seem to be going for the ugliest looking characters they can nowadays. They have their own culture and they will rarely toss their values or creative direction to appease an audience that isn’t them- which tends to work out because us westerners absolutely ruin our own.
It's hilarious that this video starts with Michael Eisner on screen and the narrator exclaiming him to be the CEO that couldn't catch a break.. all he did was catch breaks. He was the CEO of Disney when its film division underwent a resurgence (popularly known as the Disney Renaissance) where all he had to do was sit back and make bank on the films his company was producing being timeless classics that he could not only sell theatre tickets for, but also add character appearances to the Disney Parks and sell lots of merchandise with those beloved characters. Him meeting Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (the two brainchildren behind the renaissance) was him catching all the breaks he needed
