"WRC is for boys. Group B was for men." We all are waiting for reaction to "Rally Group B - Tribute"
In the WRC races held since 1972, 19 racers, including 7 pilots and 12 co-pilots, have lost their lives in rally accidents. While a great number of serious accidents have taken place since 2006, no fatal accidents have been reported in the WRC.
Incorrect. There was at least one in 2017 when Hayden Paddon unfortunately hit an amateur photographer in Monte Carlo, who died from the injuries. Although you are correct about no fatalities within the crews, there have been fatalities overall.
@@Alkocen He was talking specifically about fatalities relating to those in the vehicles because Jps asked how often the people who pilot the cars die.
Thouse rallycars are super safe nowadays so there is little change for fatalitys. Worst crash can bring you a strained neck for month or two.
@@asjaosaline5987 Yes, they are built a bit different than you avg nascar car. The end of Rally Group B I think forced people to think seriously about safety.
Craig Breen died in april in Croation rally test stage.
Yes love this sport..Me and my friends used to go watch the night rally’s in the late 80s, stood in a forest at 4am watching cars flash by was a real buzz 🫶🇬🇧..R.I.P Colin Mcrae
Wish i was born earlier and witness that with my own eyes.Jealous for you!
The best driver, and such an iconic car!
My friends and I..
Colin McCrash, rest in peace.
My Dad was a rally car driver for Lombard, RAC when I was a child. I remember 4am Sunday mornings travelling to Kielder Forest to watch him.(1970's & 80's) Later when he couldn't take part due to work injury he got my cousin and friends Dad involved. He's still involved even now. As he says "I have the body of an old man but the heart of a boy racer)
On behalf of the entire motorsport community, I salute him.
I would need very stout undergarments, made from the sails of a galleon, to sit in one of those cars doing that...
legend has it that WRC drivers have a titanium rollcage inside their rollcage to protect there cohones as it is said that that is their true source of skill
Yet another sport close toy hart, I use to rally drive when I was a teenager back in England, got into a program that was going on at the time to help prevent kids getting into trouble and I started rally driving, it was awesome
The roll cages and harnesses in rally cars are exelent so not too many fatalities and not even that many injury's
I followed the Irish Tarmac Championship religiously throughout the 90's and early 2000's. Attended every rally for years. It was outstanding entertainment
ItsJps was literally shaking in anticipation and the first visual was of a car just gliding in the air. Great start 😂
You have to see and feel this live. I had goosebumps from 8am to 3pm continuously. The sound they make is crazy and drivers are just insane, with huge balls!
1:51 - No, that's based off of the i20. Obviously it has very little to do with road-going version but WRC cars also have to be road legal (lights, indicators, license plates, etc) because they have to be driven on public roads between stages and the drivers have to obey all the road rules like everyone else.
These are, by far, the best drivers in the world. It's just fascinating to see the level of control they have.
That Yaris WRC with it's tiny size gives me such oldschool R5 vibes. The lil engine that WILL EAT YOUR FACE.
I was a rally marshal once for a local rally event, my job was to keep spectators out of dangerous areas in the corner and keep them off the road. Of course, the spectators don't wanna have any of it, and a lot of the times they'll still try to spectate from the areas that are quite dangerous. Can't exactly punch them out and drag them away if they refuse to move. On that particular rally, a car did plow into some spectators. I believe at least one of them died as a result but I didn't bother looking up the news report and it didn't happen in my corner so I don't know for sure how many ended up injured and dead cuz they kept me in the dark. Race got cancelled after the accident.
5:01 "Porco dighel" It's a fantastic Italian expression!
WRC drivers are some of the very best drivers on the planet…
Jumping into corner is impresive
Brilliant stuff. Exhilarating, scary but fantastic!!. The skill involved is mind bending!!. Both for drivers and navigators. 🇬🇧
I believe the Hyundai driver you keep seeing is Thierry Neuville. He's been constantly winning third place in the championship for like three years in a row or so. I think the champion of the 2020 WRC was Sebastian Ogier, claiming his 6th championship, if I'm not mistaken (think he was with the Toyota team). He also won in 2021. The current champion is Kalle Rovanpera who won both the 2022 and 2023 championships at just 22 and 23 years old. The youngest champion in WRC history.
Hi Joel! Couple of things; these cars are as tough as a Sherman tank! It's fascinating to hear the navigators giving the driver instructions and, lastly, after "skying" the car both driver and nav have two extra Adam's apple!!!😉 great reaction!!! Take care...
The wrc is a dangerous sport as we've seen at Craig Breens crash this year(R.I.P. you'll never be forgotten Irish hero) but mostly its safe and also ,the Hyundai was an I20 N ,but yea looks simmilar to the Veloster
Many years ago a friend was a rally driver and I went as a passenger on a short practice run with him. I swore I would never go in a car again with him if he was driving. It was sheer terror.
Just love watching your young face react to this, I think rally drivers are the best drivers in the world bar none ... my dream is to have an impreza 😅
Thanks for roll gages. did a roll and continue. it is so crazy. Rally is the real shit you need big balls.
There’s nothing better than standing in a forest, we’ve done Clumber Park, Chatsworth House, many a time watching these amazing, crazy rally drivers, Colin McCrae in his Subaru Impreza was a joy & thrill to have wizz past ❤️ amazing memories & fabulous days out 😁
If in doubt, flat out.
If I remember correctly, there has been no driver or co-driver deaths in the WRC since 2006.
And serious injuries are also extremely rare.
yeah the last I remember was Markko Martin's copilot
@@SRS_Metabolic Michael "Beef" Park, Wales Rally GB, Sept 2005.
A little bit more exciting than going round in circles!
I love that this video had a lot of clips from Rally Estonia. That Hyundai was driven by Ott Tänak (i believe), an Estonian driver who always drives like his life is on the line :D
And still tänak loses to Kalle Rovanperä our finnish rally king 🤔😅
That Hyundai driver is 2019 world champion and he always had that grazy rallying style also that first crash was his couse mechanical problem.
The swedes at 01:41:
One man going "Whoops, Whoops!" And another just matter of factly going "A shame that happened just before the goal."
This makes me imagine a Wacky Races cartoon, with Basil Fawlty in one car, racing against Mrs Richards in the other car. Stumbling into last place is Major Gowan, having taken multiple wrong turnings on the way.
Love this!
I love what a rich, vivid imagination you have. You certainly know how to paint a fun picture.Wish more men had such a playful imagination.
Out of Context ItsJps: “I need that exhaust system, bro.”
Last fatality was sadly Craig Breen in croatia this year. One of the 5 Hyundai drivers.
But before that one was in 2006 ome in 2005, then all the way in 1993.
So 4 fatalities in the last 30 years.
I just watched your reaction to the crowd doing bohemian at a green day concert, and I gotta say the best crowd I’ve seen was when Robbie Williams from take that did ‘angels’ one of the biggest British anthems at the Ariana grande one love Manchester concert, it was a massive thing because take that broke up years and years ago but they came back to do a couple songs for their home town and for Ariana, the crowd gave me chills, literally the best thing I have ever seen, made me proud to be British 😂
I really enjoyed this!
These are performance cars, extremely muscular and driven to the limit by some of the best drivers in the world. Yes. there are casualties, but surprisingly few.
There are 3-4 guys in every rally driving that hyundai with the same paintjob
After the previous Rally video, I’m excited to see how this video goes.
Depending on the rally tour competition in professional rally WRC fatalities it can be as high as 1 every two years. But the highest group cat for deaths was Group B, now defunct cat. Since Group B was taken off the rallying then its got lower each year.
You finally watched my favorite motorsport, World Rally Championsip! Nice!!
That red car is Hyundai i20 N line. That is some beast.
You know you are old when you know this one:
2 right over crest jump maybe... 😀
The driver who crashed the Ford Fiesta ( 3:56 ) is actually a friend of mine. It took him a little while to reset and drive on the limit again after that off.
I work for a used car dealership in the Scottish Borders which is run by the 1990 ladies world rally champion. She had a horrific accident in the Portugal rally, clip is on UA-cam somewhere (her name is Louise Aitken-Walker
One of the forests is right near where I live. I've only been to a couple and you spend a lot of time standing while nothing happens, and get a few seconds of entertainment every few minutes 😂 but definitely worth it
Check out the 1986 Portuguese Rally for crazy driving and crazier spectators. The whole season was madness.
First round of nitro rallycross this weekend!!!!!!
Kalle Rovanperä has won the 2 most recent world championships! He is incredible 🇫🇮🇫🇮
Dude... nicely done... check out Group B Rally in the 80s. That was when the cars were purpose built and the fans were as crazy as the drivers.
I wonder what those engine's max rev line is? Is it a rebuild after each race ? The sound like a swarm of angry bees when they pass.
The Lancia Intergrale was my favorite it looked like a race car stock...
They didn’t fall off the edge because the driver had the presence of mind, to apply the handbrake.
the funny thing about snow courses is cause the air is so cold the oxygen is more dense so the engines actually work better which just leads more to the maximum attack
1:50 its an i30N. My mate has one (road version obsiously lol) and they are honestly wicked cars.
You should look into the Group B era of Rally, that was when there were no restrictions on cars and you ended up with the insane monster cars like the 6R4 and RS200. They got banned in the end as too dangerous
You should watch a video on Colin McRae
The most British thing you can add to a Rally is a roundabout 😂
Strange, The first modern version of a roundabout was opened in 1899 in Germany. France has the record for density by far... The largest roundabout is in Malaysia..
Kind of ironic the British get the reputation for them?
@@daveofyorkshire301 It’s an inside joke if you’ve seen a previous video on the channel.
The most British thing you can add to a rally is a lollipop lady.
Nice vid bro
or react to the film "The Italian Job" . . its a film. . . it has cars (my fav the mini) and it's British
Make it clear that you need to check that it’s the British version that JPS has to watch and not the American remake with Mark Wahlberg.
@@andrewcoates6641 oh yeah. . . .The one with Michael Cain . . lol thx
I grew up watching stage rallying as my Dad did it. Not super competitively but he won a few trophies. I would rather crash in a rally car than a road car. The cars are extremely strong with roll cages, full harness seatbelts & bucket seats. The drivers wear fire proof overalls, gloves, boots & balaclavas under their helmets. As a result, fatalities are very rare. It’s the same with most modern day motorsport.
cars are well reinforced around the driver and co driver. the cars are rebuilt after because they have such an amount of software etc.
you should watch one and the only legendary driver among our rally fans "Samir" - "THE SAMIR"
Check out best WRC of 1995-96 👍🏻 to my knowledge there hasn’t been any driver deaths for quite a while, since group B was stopped. I could be wrong though
That kid who won WRC world championship 2022, was only 22 year old!
React to "group B" rally cars. Those cars were savage rally state of the art.
Women drive in the WRC rallies too!
You can safely stimulate the experience of watching a really by having someone play a rally game on a console while another friend throws cupfuls of mud, water, gravel, and thumb tacks in your face at every turn.
*rally, not really.
I swear I edited that twice before pressing send.
05:16 That Hundai drive Estonian driver Ott Tänak and co-driver Martin Järveoja . Greatings from Estonia.
These cars have a safety framework.
No fatalities. Those cars are so fookin strong.
WRC after Group B became more safe and now crews racing a lot of seasons without injuries. Deaths are very rare now in rally
Very few fatalities as the cars are so strongly built, there are more injuries to spectators, but again not that many. Excellent to watch live, but you always make sure that you are out of the way of danger as best you can be.
I've seen a vid where they were racing thru a forest, at night, the road (I'd call it a trail) was covered in snow. It was during a blizard, with the view taken from an inside the car, and the commentator losing his mind because the windshield was a total white-out.
And they were driving every bit as fast as these guys were. You (we) couldn't see a damn thing from the inside camera view!
4:06 "What the fu.."DEMONITIZED!!
Hello Joel. I previously mentioned in comments about the danger of driving in Bradford. The drivers in the video would compare to some taxi drivers there I have ridden with.
When I bought my first Hyundai people said "A what?"
Then friends who had Fords said "This goes better than mine!" though I pointed out I was taught by ex police drivers. One friend joined the police and moved to the next town to the one I did and became a traffic cop. I spotted him by chance when he stopped someone opposite my girlfriend's house.
Note that in between Hyundai cars I did have a Ford Puma and a Ford Focus, before you think me biased.
My mate got a Ford Puma when he was 17/18, they'd just came out, i'll never forget driving round in that, not many people had them.
@@mosthaunted2 I had the 1.7 that really went. There are video reviews on UA-cam.
The first time I drove the Puma it snowed and without my previous four wheel drive, I tobogganed down the steep hill I lived on with the wheels stopped. I had to skid it to lose speed and bounce off a hedge to miss a tree (no damage as really slow at this point).
I've been to around 10 rally events, with one fatality. A co-driver was killed in a crash.
But it's pretty rare. I don't have any statistics on it.
that dog is the perfect reason why pets are usually banned on those events...
You need to find videos that show the footwork of these amazing rally drivers. There is very little luck in this sport...just skill.
This modern Rally era is crazy, look at the corner speeds, not even Group B got that corner speeds. Yeah group b was more dangerous, but the speed in the corners was never that fast i think ^^
The jumps are also very big compared to group B.
Thanks
U should definitely watch some old rallys like '80-90 WRC. I would recommend also watching some Robert Kubica rallys.. He was fucking crazy
4:42
- c'étais un chien ? Was that a dog ?
- ouaip, 120 semi-long , Yep, 120 medium long
Haha straight back to business
You can try searching videos of the Rallylegend event in San Marino. Here you can find some of the craziest drivers of the rally. Let me know if you will appreciate those videos
Our European and U.K. compact cars are ideal for these rallies I don’t think US cars could compete
My butthole was so clenched when that dog ran out in front of the car, I even closed my eyes because I was sure that dog was gonna die
Very rarely any fatalities due to the high level of safety equipment.
Have a look at the history of Group B rallying and Isle of Man TT motorcycle race I think they'll interest you
If u wanna se something trully impressive then check out the Isle of man TT bike race. Those guys have some really huge balls.
thats fast
The cars youre seeing are:
Toyota Yaris (White red and black
Hyundai i20 (not sold in US)
Ford Fiesta (White and Blue)
Citröen C3 (gray red and navy blue)
Skoda Fabia (the one with green)
There weren't that many competitors that year bcs, well, Covid.
And if I remember correctly Hyundai did win that year I think. And Toyota 2nd.
Right now the rivalry was pretty much between Hyundai and Toyota. They had the best, most heavily-modified cars. Everyone else was competing for 3rd lol.
Ford has stepped up since then tho. They switched to the Ford Puma and they're super modded as well now too. Its good cuz more competition means more unpredictable races.
Most rally driver who have passed away do so doing a hobby, ken block jest ski Colin McCrash died in a helicopter accident, rally is one of the safest motor sport around
1:50 I think this is the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. :)
Walther did that one handed. no just kidding. thtats crazier than group b
You need a wrc game now .
Those inline 4 cylinder top out at 600 horse, if you want to....
Being a car nut .
Rallys are safe if people stand were they are supposed to , the only spectator deaths are when people disobey the Marshalls .
The spectators are where they are most unlikely
to leave the road or crash .
Very few driver deaths one of the safer forms of motor sport.
You have to see rally vinho madeira and react on that...
1:50 Actually, it's the i20 N, not the Veloster.
The two most unique and best sounding wrc cars were the Group B Audis And the Subarus. Nothing else sounds like those two
i was 2 when my parents moved. once a year the rally passed right near our house. i personally drive a mitsu lancer. nascar isn't even a sport compared to rally and rally cross lmao
Now that ItsJps has a car, will we see them at a Drive-In Theater?
