Studia a Milano con il maestro Vicidomini e poi con Pessina.
Debutta a Colorno in provincia di Parma il 19 luglio 1937 come Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor.

Thank you so much for your kind message and sending me this wonderful recording . I have a full recording of Don Carlo with him , also including Tito Gobbi .
I am , a would like to have been opera singer , but have enjoed a lifetime as a connoisseur of operatic voices . I am intrigued that Mario Filippeschi was born in Montefoscoli , a small rural place I happen to know , from looking at property in the area . Thank you again - David

I missed hearing him sing this role in 1958 at the Drury lane Theatre London , San Carlo Naples on tour . He sung the first act , but obviously he had a vocal problem , was suffering Asian flu , prevelent at the time . Giuseppe Savio took over from act two and sang magnificently till the end . Exciting , but I always wanted to hear Mario Filippeschi sing the role .

Grande Filippeschi, insuperabile in Guglielmo Tell, Puritani e repertorio lirico-spinto. Qui un po' fuori ruolo. Basta ascoltare in questa romanza il suo conterraneo Galliano Masini. Comunque Filippeschi immenso tenore.
