Seems too overpowered for a single puny transistor. Better use a LM386 for guaranteed results (only as a preamplifier - do not expect much of it).

It's a basic transistor amplifier, high frequency signal is bypassed by C3,C4, so it can only amplify low frequency signal. This amplified signal must "add" original signal to get a better performance.

Electro Tech This circuit is fake anyways. It is not going to work with any type. Better use a good old LM386 for guaranteed results. (Do not expect much of it though, it is just a 1W amp).
