The best bassist in rock, the best rock drummer, and one of the best songwriters/composers and powerful guitarists on one stage with Daltrey at the height of his power. A joy to behold. There is no better live band in the history of rock than the Who.
the stones did some country rock songs most notably in the late 60's (albums like let it bleed) and they did some ballads like angie, wild horses and dead flowers, they also did some jazz and folk songs, so there were not really only rock n roll, but the who not only were the first ones to rock real hard but they were much more musically diverse than the stones but the who really are the best and the ultimate rock band of all time!!!!!!
Good god I LOVE this band. The best rock band to have ever walked the face of this earth, and the most astounding rhythm section you will ever hear! Someone said recently that the Who never jammed. As was said further down in the comments "What a pantload"!!! That's a brilliant saying :-)) All bands should sit down to watch the Isle of Wight concert and listen to Live at Leeds and THEN see if they can call themselves a rock band. I love the 'Orrible 'Oo!
Yeah fair call about the Stones. The comment I wrote was a year ago before I really go into the Rolling Stones. And I agree with you 100% The Who really are the best and the ultimate rock band of all time.
Led Zeppelin - Hard Serious and the best musicians ever The WHo -Hard pure fun and fuckin epic if you can choose between those 2 bands you are not human i mean those bands changed the world with music style rock and roll and appearance god without them world would be meaningless
I'd say The Who were more complex than to be simply titled "The World's Greatest Rock N' Roll Band." Their work dives far beyond one genre where as the Stones are only Rock N' Roll & nothing else. So the world's greatest rock n' roll band should go to the stones, The greatest band of all time should go to The Who
Oh, yes - these are some of the most vicious windmills I've ever seen Townsend smash - and how he does them without consistently shredding his hands, I just don't know. And, certainly, this has to be Moon at the height of his skills. The guy in the skeleton suit ain't no slouch, either! These guys were killers, in their day!
I have never seen a better Who performance than this one. it always makes the hairs on my neck stand on end whenever I see Townshend's windmill solo. Without The Who, British rock history would have been very lame.
Damn!!!!!!!! John Entwistle from 1:35-1:54 can you say All aboard!!!!!!!!!! the locomotive is knocking the frickin walls down. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! John Paul Jones, Jack Bruce and Geddy Lee etc: eat your fricking hearts out guys!!!!!!!!!!!!! you guys could NEVER touch him. great players, but J Entwistle was in a League all his Own. from a different planet for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, Roger's singing is so emotional here, he really sounds like he's about to start crying, and it's so true...the myth about so-called "stupid teenagers" is nothing more than prejudice.
this song is very similar to led zeppelin's black dog, if u consider the vocals and the guitar riffs, after all, these band and these songs defined the classic hard rock genre!!!!!!
these were the good old days of sex, drugs and rock n roll when musicans were actually talented and had to put a lot of effort and hard work into their music!!!!!!
I wish THIS band could have played at the fucking Super Bowl a couple of years back. On a separate note, I'm so glad John ditched the Fender for the rest of his career. They never did fit him BEST, IMO.
keith moon is the nickelback drummer before his time...either that or the creed drummer...keith would be nowhere without those studs...or wait ..a minute...i forgot the chick from disturbed...
Yeah - none of your namby-pamby hippie stuff here! Just raw, unchecked testosterone and bleeding ears and amps! I'm astounded how many people - especially young people - know, at least a bit, about The Beatles, but know next to nothing about The Who. There will NEVER, EVRE be such a combination again - an UNBELIEVABLE rhythm section, phenomenal composer, and prototypical rock vocalist. But I forgot, "Rock is Dead!" Long Live Rooooccckk!!! Maybe it'll make a comeback, eh?

Please tell me how you can't like this.....this is epic!!!
Dean Gericke True In the days when music erupted rather than today which is mundane.
Yeah fair call about the Stones. The comment I wrote was a year ago before I really go into the Rolling Stones. And I agree with you 100% The Who really are the best and the ultimate rock band of all time.
Never could stand this band but this is one of my all time fav rock songs
the more i listen to the who ,the more i love them

The Who, back in the "day".
I have never seen a better Who performance than this one. it always makes the hairs on my neck stand on end whenever I see Townshend's windmill solo. Without The Who, British rock history would have been very lame.
@lexy67flc The 'Oo are the epitomy of jamming!
I've heard it said by some that the Rolling Stones are "the world's greatest rock & roll band" - what a fucking pantload.
