Description: "Russian painter, designer, archaeologist, anthropologist, and mystical philosopher. He was a prolific painter of landscapes and of imaginary historical scenes that evoke a colourful pagan image of Russia's past. They reveal the same feeling for exotic splendour and bold, sumptuous colour that he displayed in his set and costume designs for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, notably for Stravinsky's Rite of Spring (1913), for which Roerich created the scenario with the composer.
A man of immense energy, Roerich combined his career as an artist with one as an archaeologist and anthropologist. In 1925-8 he led a 26,000-km (16,000-mile) expedition in Central Asia, and his investigations still form ‘the bedrock of anthropological studies’ in the region (The Times Atlas of World Exploration, 1991). From 1928 until his death he directed a Himalayan research station in the Kulu Valley in India, and many of his later paintings feature mountain landscapes. He had a deep interest in esoteric religions and the mysteries of nature, and he developed a philosophy in which art should unite humanity. There are Roerich museums in Moscow and New York (he lived in the USA, 1920-3), but the best collection of his work is in the Russian Museum, St Petersburg."

C'est l'un de mes rêves de visiter le nord de l'Inde, l'Himachal, le Ladakh, le Cachemire, l'Uttarakhand. Je viens de découvrir le travail de Roerich, j'adore ses peintures de montagne, vraiment impressionnantes.

Ever since I went to the Sri Chitra Art Gallery at Thurivanathapuram, India where I saw Nicholas Reorich and Svetslav Roerich's paintings, I fell in love with them. There are a myriad of emotions carried in each painting which other mediums find it hard to express. Nicholas is truly a gifted and driven person. We are fortunate to see his paintings and appreciate the beauty of humankind, nature and religion.

Fantastic artwork! Thank you for posting this important collection of Roerich's amazing works that bring spirit into matter in a most profound and mystical way. Our Earth requires more artists of his caliber and attainment to counter the decadent trash that some are trying to pass as art today. Praise God for the Roerichs, Agni Yoga and the teachings of Morya through their messengerships of beauty and wisdom teaching.

I went to Naggar (Himachal Pradesh) recently, and had the opportunity to visit Roerich's residence and the Art Gallery.. I am mesmerized .. Will definitely come back to Naggar

Je suis stupéfait par son travail, je viens de le découvrir récemment. J'ai vu une vidéo sur un livre écrit par le philosophe ésotérique italien Julius Evola intitulé Méditations sur les Sommets. Evola y mentionne le travail de Roerich. J'adore ses peintures de montagne himalayennes

His selection of colors,style provides a sort of animation to his art.Under painting is foundational to the way the color is absorbed.
Dr Sanjeev Dev of Thummapudi village in Andhrapradesh introduced this great personality, and his family members with wonderful narratives as he stayed with them. He successfully translated Roerich's paintings into prose form with great details.

Roerich Museum in Moscow well worth a visit .
WAS worth. It was plundered and closed in 2017 by official church radicals, 6 paintings went missed, other works seized in archives of "Ministry of Culture".
