This is so freeing. For years my family& I went to an evangelical bible church with solid teaching but I always felt like I had to work, and strive and keep trying to get more faith, get closer to God serve more... Not blaming the church could just be my interpretation but hearing this is SO helpful and it rings true. Jesus did it all I can't bring anything to the table.
Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. I believe we are under the New Testament and under the New Testament ministry mentioned by Paul in 2 Cor:3. The new covenant mentioned in the old testament was to the nation of Israel and Judah, and states that there will be no need for teachers and idols will be purged. Paul states teaching as part of ministry, and John in 1:5 admonishes us to stay away from idols. The Everlasting Covenant between Father and Son is what we are under. It was a covenant between them both, as in Genesis 15. We inherit the promises from this through Christ, which includes the spirit of promise, and the only obligation is to believe in faith in Jesus Christ and his finished work alone. We are sons of God and fellow heirs. Sons through the spirit of adoption where our hearts cry out, Abba, Father.
1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, if you are a sinner he died for you, no person is clean in his or her performance in life, we are made clean or made righteous in Christ, if Christ is not in you, you are none of his.
