The expiration date only applies to the accessories, the main meals have +5 years after that date this is because the accessories have a 3 year shelf life and the main meals have 8 years.

One thing I feel that most of these packs, regardless of brand, is water purification pills. They kind of assume that you have access to clean water, and to me that is kind of mind boggling considering what they are meant for.
