    Vegas is known for incredible entertainment between their museums, shows, casinos, resorts and attractions, there's nothing quite like it in the world. However, there is one thing that tops them all and that is the future of metro transportation and an awesome example of this is the Vegas Loop designed, built and owned by The Boring Company and Elon Musk! Riding the "Loop" was a fantastic experience and I learned a lot about it; I hope you enjoy taking this ride with me!

    I wonder when or if, we'll ever see the skateboard chassis format, either with just cars on them and or passenger pods not dissimilar to existing underground transport systems around the world.

    Why do they have curves in these tunnels? I thought the tunnels would be a straight line to the destination.

    • @DessieDoolan
      @DessieDoolan Рік тому +4

      Might need to dodge around properties that didn't authorise for tunneling under, but also in ground utilities, building footings etc.

    • @vinny142
      @vinny142 Рік тому

      Waterpipes, gaspipes, foundations of buildings, soil conditions, rockformations... and given that this is a human-driven system, they specifically want curves in them to keep drivers alert. (just like most long bridges and tunnels, and how hardly any highways go very long without some curves in them.

      I didn’t realize that it was only open to convention guests at the time we went, we got through and got the rides, but I don’t recommend winging it like we did, book your tickets in advance on a day that they are giving public tours :-)

    I like the optimism of having selfdriving Teslas "in the future, when the network is complete". Ofcourse I am going to point out that you don't need self-driving cars in a tunnel. All you need is a black line drawn on the ground every electronics student can design you a circuit that will make the car follow the line.
    And ofcrouse ofcourse I'm going to point out that if you replace the road with rails and the tesla's with metro-style pods that hold 100 people at a toime, you can make a driverless metro that moves 50 times as many people at speeds the teslas will never reach because they have tires.
    Really the only way you can find the vegas loop exciting is if you are a die-hard Musk fan with no sense of realism.

    Be interesting to see just how quickly Tesla and Las Vegas can given the current sudden Recession USA build this out and then *"fit out"* the detail work, absolutely. Definitely the future of Transportation period be seen here with hopefully Los Angeles as next given the traffic nightmare there ever and always but in particular for SpaceX workers which is how and why this all began in the first place is my understanding.
    Certainly no need for City Buses of much more than now exists in all of Southern California if this system proves out. That would free up a truly awesome amount of diesel fuel for use in other matters and concerns would be an understatement. Texas now produces more electricity from windpower than from natural gas I think is huge news as well as that will only increase and possibly dramatically so going forward 2023 as off shore wind has yet to be even considered for Gulf of Mexico applications let alone Northern Mexico as well.

      "Definitely the future of Transportation period" ???????
      Sorry bur I have to respectfully disagree.
      Yep, Taxi drivers driving cars though a narrow tunnel at 30 mph??? Furthermore.... Don't see how anyone can safely exit a car in an emergency with only one foot clearance? Waste of 50 million dollars!

      Good point. If you are sad like me and do the maths on the actual average speeds between the stations of the LVCC Loop from getting into the car to getting out of it (not including the waiting time for the Resorts world one way tunnel (which is a whole other level of stupid)) the speeds are 6-8mph in a straight line point to point between stations or 12-14mph through the tunnels. Not surprising as their top speed allowed is 30mph. My daily commute on a metro, that does up to 80kph (50mph), averages 20 minutes for a 17km journey (in a straight line). Which is 51kph or 32mph. Am I missing something?
      Although expensive, the land, building and property rights generated by building shopping malls, cinemas, housing and schools above the stations pays for the whole line (it's called the rail/property model), not to mention the economic, and therefore tax revenue this brings in.
      Again.....what am I missing?
