I also passed my CompTIA A+ test, but I only studied two weeks for each part. I took each exam exactly 1 day apart and passed. I don't recommend doing this unless you have the time to really, really study. I studied on average 8-10 hours daily. But I was determined to get my certification. I'm now working on my Network + . My recommendation is study hard and use any and every resource you can get your hands on. Also, they types of study techniques you use also play a big role in your being prepared for the test. Use metacognition in helping you recall the information you study. Recall is the key idea here. Don't fall into the trap of familiarity, where you think you know something just because you looked over your notes ......test yourself daily.

I don't have any professional experience in IT or anything like that but I have had much personal experience with building PCs and troubleshooting. Which definitely helped me in passing

Love this video because it shows that you can move from one career to another i.e. going from Audio to IT. Only thing I'll say is most people only rely on Messer for study material but there are plenty of more comprehensive resources such as "Darren's CompTIA A+ Study Guide".

Currently studying for my 1002, I've been in the field for 2 years now. It's wild because people normally do A+ then move on to Sec+ or Net+ and you would think those would be harder but all of the techs I've met are like the A+ is the hardest out of the 3. Good luck on your next cert!
My advice, find out what a career needs and target those specific certs, otherwise, you can waste a lot of time & resources obtaining the wrong ones. Having a string of same tier certs won't likely help someone's career.

I was in a 6-8 hour lecture 4 days a week from February-April, but it actually didn't need to take that long. We were also working through Coursera's Google IT course and learning job developmental skills. Essentially, we went through 2 chapters in the textbook every week, then spent one week reviewing for the 1001, took that exam, spent another week reviewing for the 1002, took that exam, then the course was over.
How did the transition go? I’m a 3rd year electrician wanting to make the switch also. However I want to get my jcard beforehand to have a backup plan. But I’m currently studying for both that as well as the A+. Did you end up making the career change, and if so how did it go? Looking to eventually become either a network engineer or security analyst

Ive had a long career in tech got my certs way back in high school (2002). Never thought the exam was worthwhile and I generally assume people with the cert don’t know anything about computers based on experience hiring. However it seems to open a lot of doors especially at the beginning of your career so it is hard to not recommend.
@@luciushunt2882 personally I learn by doing experience goes a long way but I'm also young so I understand that doesn't work for getting first jobs. What I recommend for getting those first jobs is value not only yourself but what a job can give you I had 3 years help desk experience before my certification because I worked a job that didn't pay that well because I could learn and now that experience follows with me to the next job where I can try to get a higher position because I already have my certification

My problem is I get to sleepy when I first start to watch a video or write on paper, my health problems get in the way too. I have been trying to do this for 4 yrs now. All the videos that I have watched or tried too :) leads up to the same subjects, the best tool for the job and using kali linux, hiding your tracks and staying stealthy. use a vpn and a rubber ducky usb stick, don't include your real info on any pentesting devices or where you live etc...

How did the transition go? I’m a 3rd year electrician wanting to make the switch also. However I want to get my jcard beforehand to have a backup plan. But I’m currently studying for both that as well as the A+. Did you end up making the career change, and if so how did it go? Looking to eventually become either a network engineer or security analyst
@@travisharrington5819 I’m going to finish my degree in November man. Going well. I have my j card already but it was a good idea to get it an swap over. I’d say get it and then jump over but keep it active.

Thanks for the great advice! In preparing for the A+ 1001, do you need practical experience in a lab? If so, how would you obtain that? I didn't find any practice labs for the 1001, only for 1002. Would appreciate your help!

Ive had a long career in tech got my certs way back in high school (2002). Never thought the exam was worthwhile and I generally assume people with the cert don’t know anything about computers based on experience hiring. However it seems to open a lot of doors especially at the beginning of your career so it is hard to not recommend.
Any tips on a young guy like me on the proper way to gain knowledge?

@@luciushunt2882 personally I learn by doing experience goes a long way but I'm also young so I understand that doesn't work for getting first jobs. What I recommend for getting those first jobs is value not only yourself but what a job can give you I had 3 years help desk experience before my certification because I worked a job that didn't pay that well because I could learn and now that experience follows with me to the next job where I can try to get a higher position because I already have my certification

My problem is I get to sleepy when I first start to watch a video or write on paper, my health problems get in the way too. I have been trying to do this for 4 yrs now. All the videos that I have watched or tried too :) leads up to the same subjects, the best tool for the job and using kali linux, hiding your tracks and staying stealthy. use a vpn and a rubber ducky usb stick, don't include your real info on any pentesting devices or where you live etc...
