Very difficult to make an assessment prior to road test evaluations of both the Renault 5 and the Alpine A290. IMHO the motor power in the R5 is very underwhelming so it is almost necessary to consider the A290. Perhaps the best compromise would be to offer the 178 bhp motor as an option in the R5. Until prices are announced it is impossible to assess whether the Alpine will be value for money. I suspect that Renault is positioning it as a bit of a niche car so other than the basic GT versions it will priced over £40k and therefore subject to the nasty higher VED supplement.
Fair enough, but the r5 isn't supposed to be a fast car and expecting it to be as such is unfair. However with an Alpine, you expect it to be quick, especially when it's electric. The power of the Alpine simply isn't enough, and they could of done far more with the car. Compared to the a290 concept car, the production a290 is very dissapointing.
One thing that disapointed me was the lack of the widebody like the prototype had, i honestly thought that the prototype looked gorgeous... But upon launching the car just looks not sporty at all, too narrow, it looks more like an yaris than a GR yaris imo
I have to agree, losing the black panelling on the roof and bonnet is a shame, and the solid red line down the centre. The reworked front spoiler has also lost its impact. But perhaps worst of all is that signature headline set up. They obviously couldn'y get the large Xs on the headlights and so went for the smaller ones, but it messes with the balance of the sports lamps at the front end. Now the graphic of the sports lamps is bigger than the headlights.
So true dude, why does it have 215hp not 290hp? Dissapointing from Alpine, too slow, they could have added a second motor at least. Complete dissapointment. People commenting below calling you out for anything that you said which is incorrect need to get a life. Your video has alot i agree with.
You can’t have a real opinion on this car as long you didn’t drive it. It is day and night with the already good R5. The differences in chassis, brakes, power and torque vectoring are not comparable. So please review your opinion after you have test the car.
Would you opt for an Audi A1 over a VW Polo or Skoda Fabia? I heard the A290 has a wider track, presumably not just due to wider wheels? Does the A290 also have tuned suspension?
The A290's interior is actually navy blue with white leather, can confirm with new press photos and seeing one at Goodwood. Its about a 10 grand bump from the R5 which I can kinda see the value in, but not entirely using something like an audi A1. Just wished it was a 4wd car or just rwd.

I am really advocating a more subtle warm hatch for those who may be turned off by the more aggressive and boy racer looks of the Alpine.
@@HowToSpecYou need to add “in my opinion” to your statements.

as an alpine fan it really disappointed me but I'm happy to see someone talking about it you make a really good video I hope to see more
Thanks for watching!

Most of the information in your video is incorrect. 60 is in 6.4 seconds, and the interior isn't black. The body is also significantly different.
I STILL NEED ONE
Fair enough, still a good car after all it’s just now how I thought it would end up like

The specs already fail, THAT IS MORE THEN CLEAR.

I’d rather a Fabia tbh, but for that class of car I’d take a Dacia sandero overall.

Nothing ? Sorry but I take the extra power, really like the design, the premier edition beta is the right choice for me 😉
6.4 not 7.4.
