I have never been able to successfully tie this fly until I watched this tutorial!!! You made it look easy!!
Glad you found it helpful!
Probably the best tutorial I’ve seen to date. From the explanation of materials to the actual tying of the fly, spot on! Thank you!
Glad it helped! Thanks so much for the feedback. More tutorials in the works!
Just sat down and tied about a dozen of these flies. #16 hooks!! Being a newby, I found your instructions spot on. My fingers actually could manage it when tying down the Elk Hair. These babies look pretty good! Thanks for making me look good.
😂 Glad you found it helpful. Way to put in the work! 👍🏽
You guys make the best tying videos
Very kind of you and glad you’re enjoying them. We’ve got a bunch more in the works as we speak. Stay tuned!
Looks simple to tie, but it's a tricky fly. Well done
Agreed! That elk hair sometimes. 🙄🙄🙄 haha
A lot of tutorials don’t tell you how much of elk hair to use….thanks for providing a general amount needed.
For sure! Glad you found it helpful.
@@venturesflyco you guys have a great channel. Keep them coming.
Just got my Ventures Mega Kit! So Pumped to tie my very first fly!

Very happy to hear it. Glad you enjoy them. 👍🏽
Hi I really like the way you tie this pattern. Also enjoy you and Spence on the podcast, serious tips and advice with a little humour to keep things light! “Like Diet Coke, which is light and sweet like a beautiful dry fly!”😉
hahaha love this! But you mean Coke Zero right?!
@@venturesflyco of course I do!! (I got that wrong didn’t I 😂)
Good stuff. I struggle with getting the hairs just right with this pattern. Makes me want to try out these new tips tonight to see if I can now get them just right. Thanks Ventures.
😎🤙🏽 Gettir done!

Great video on the elk hair caddis 👍
We have a great October caddis hatch. How about a october puppa and adult Caddis Tutorial. Thanks for all the others . Big help.
Great instruction! How the heck do you not have at least 10X of your current subscribers?
😂 Just started a few months ago. We’ll get there. 😎🤙🏽
I also struggle tying this fly. I've found that I try to use too much hair and tie it too close to the eye of the hook. Hope this helps others.
Question, is this a dry or wet fly? I am a rookie so I am assuming the wire would make the fly heavier and sink ?
This is a dry fly. Yes the wire is a bit confusing, but it’s really small. The buoyancy of the hackle, dubbing, and adding floatant greatly overpower the weight of the wire. Floats really well!
Hi i was wondering when i snip off excess hackel should I keep the excess?
Yup! Definitely. You can use that same hackle strand for multiple flies. 😎🤙🏽
so after i cut the major excess of elk hair off. is there any use fore the left over?
what vise do you use?
