Decorah North ~ DNF & Eaglets All Look At The Tiny Hawklet In The Nest Looking Up At Them! 5.14.21

- After DNF had fed the other hawklet to her eaglets, DN13 & DN14 get up and poke the hawklet which sits up and looks at all of them. DNF and the eaglets all look down at the hawklet not quite sure what to do with it. DNF will put her foot on it and the hawklet pops right back! She pulls its wing and tries to step on it again but stops- she seems to be confused by this hawklet and her instinct to kill for food. Finally she gives up and leaves the nest and the eaglets will come over and look at the hawklet who is fearless sitting there. They poke and investigate the chick and then give up and leave it alone. A couple years ago also in Redding. Mom brought two hawks to nest. One became food and the other was raised with the other eaglets

I spent most of my day watching live today.
I stopped watching this at six minutes in because I figured I knew what was coming and I couldn’t handle it. Then I saw the video came out with Mr. North brooding it, so I came back to watch what the heck happened. Unreal. I hope it gets fed now. I understand the Eagles confusion, they look a lot like eagle hatchlings.

It's a pity the baby hawklet doesn't know how to commit suicide by walking to the edge and jumping off, anything's better than being eaten alive.

@ Deb K.........When mom came back to feed the Eaglets , she had two baby Hawklets ,one was alive and she didn't know it.You should have seen the look on her face....so she fed them the dead one and didn't know what to do with .

The little hawklet must be hungry at this point, do hawks grab their food out of the parents mouth like eagles or do they just open their mouth for the food to be put in like birds? Lord we need a miracle on this nest!🙊🙈🦅🦅🦅

You realize that hawks steal baby birds all the time in other nests right? It is tragic for us to know and see but it happens on both sides of the coin.

I saw unexpected and wonderful event in a video. A little Hawk in the nest of a family of Bald Eagles. The little was hungry and asked for food. Mom Eagle has fed the small together to his babies. The small falcon has become an adult together with three Eaglets. It is a beautiful and numerous family. 😊💖🦅🐥🐥🐥🦅💖💞🐥🐟👏👏- l'm sorry but I couldn't watch the video for fear that something had happened at the little falcon. Suffer too much.

I am so disgusted that no one will step in to intervene in these types is situations!!
I don’t even want to hear the “it’s nature” crap cuz guess what.... it’s also NATURAL for people to die but that doesn’t mean that interventions aren’t done to try and stop unfortunate situations (i.e. accidents) or illnesses.
My heart is too soft to have watched the video but I can tell from the few comments I scrolled through that it didn’t end well..... and was subsequently also disgusted that people find this sort of material “fascinating” and fun to watch 🙄
Don’t think this is going to end well. Can’t a rehabber just get the poor thing out. Don’t think I can watch it starve.
