I'm here because of Aaron over at Gid Tac. He beat the living snot out of this thing in his review. Glad to see you put it in the hands of someone that actually uses their stuff.
Just received mine today. I think this design is the best I’ve found at an all around slicy camp knife. The broadness of the blade allows for a thin edge and a thick stock. Specifically regarding the blade edge extending down below the handle guard is a great feature because it allows the knife to also be used like a chef’s knife for food prep. You can use it on a cutting surface and the whole edge makes contact. Best “do it all” design I’ve seen yet.
This knife is totally AWESOME dude. I will say this is one of my favorite knives in this size. I definitely will be doing a part two on this knife in the future.
It's an Outstanding value!. Especially when you factor in all the innovation and top shelf thinking that went into this project. This gets All Five Thumbs Up Sir👍👍👍👍👍!!.
The attention to detail on the sheath is exceptional. It covers issues that I thought I just had to deal with. The thumb pinch is real on some of my knife and multitool kydex sheaths. Now I know it can be done better and how. Great work! I had already placed my order. Just wanted to learn more about my knife. Mission accomplished and from the man himself.
This is Without doubt one of if not The most intelligently thought out and executed knives I've ever seen!!. Outstanding!!. And I am looking forward to getting on the second drop!. My credit card is in hand. A2 has been my favorite steel for over 30 years. I think the 5% Chromium makes a world of difference in the heat treatment!!.more on that later!.I admire the way you approached this project. All five thumbs up👍👍👍👍👍 👊!.
TJ makes the absolute best knives and sheathes. His attention to detail and thoughtful designs are nothing short of astounding. One of the highest quality knives that I’ve ever owned. His love for what he does shines through every time I use mine. Thanks dude!
Your approach to design and detail is what really draws me to your knives. I have several now including the LT5. If you ever do the LT5 in MagnaCut, I'll definitely have another.
@@ronp4529 I hope so! I can’t break my gaze away from my uncoated TRC Apocalypse! I want to use it, i swear: so cruel to make such a beautiful knife that one fears to do anything rougher than worship it! (Dammit!!!) Gimme less beauty and more slicey, pls.
Been eyeballing this knife for almost 2 years now I love it. I can’t get over how beautiful the design is and I know this sounds wild but I will edc this thing 😂
Someone turned me on to you guys and this knife. I was looking for a new camping knife. I told them i was probably going to get an Esee 5 or 6. He sung your knives praises.im going to get me one. I had to do some research on A2. Nothing wrong with that i love learning. Going to have to do some saving but thats ok. You guys seem to be doing awesome work. Also its nice to see and hear the man himself.
Just got mine here in Australia I absolutely love this knife it fits in my hand so good can not complain one bit on the quality either love it so much it’s my favourite knife so far from you…well done tj
I bought mine right after seeing Gideons tactical video & been using it for couple months now & luv it. The handle, blade, and sheath are incredible. So much thought went in to design. Thank u
Love love the knife ordering one this Friday. Like the fact that so much time was spent on the sheath most companies it's basically ally an after thought. Also glad it's a2 steel. One of my favorites holds an edge and easy to sharpen in field. To many of the newer super steels almost impossible to sharpen in field Great vid and be safe!
I just ordered a overland sport and it just got shipped out to me today. I can't wait to get it I haven't been so excited to get a knife in over 20 years lol. But this knife will be my next purchase once I'm able to
I love your knives and all your videos and I feel very inspired! Do you have any plans on doing a video on how you got started and how you grew your business?
Howdy TJ! Well I have 4 of your knives including this one so obviously like your craft and style. Thanks for being different and walking your own trail! Saddle up!
Just ordered mine, and I can't wait. Your overland is my all-time favourite knife that I use every day, and seeing your passion for this knife, I know it's going to be a winner
TJ, i appreciate your attention to detail! Am also a big A2 fan-air quench with that molybdenum, tough, easily sharpened, cost-effective…like a wise man’s 3V on a bigger blade. (Yes, i know 3V has better wear resistance but sharpening is easy and ‘geometry, geometry, geometry’ lol)
wow tj this is why your designs are some of the best out there you put so much time, thought and research into this knife and sheath i just want to get one because of that fact. i am not an outdoorsman but if i was i'd get a couple of these to have for every situation super utilitarian, perfect size and a2 is highly underrated sharpens easily. it also has a "cool" factor which your knives always exudes. you gotta do more videos so much great content! also great price! thanks TJ!
New grail knife spotted. My only concern is i think the sharpening choil might be a little too large. When carving i like the distance from my hand to the start of the edge to be as close as possible. It seems a little too far apart for my liking. Once i get my hands on one I will definitely let you know!
TJ, so well thought out, I'll be picking one of these up to add to my Overland and Overland Sport set! I have to admit that I have steered clear of A2 steel knives, but you have me sold now. 👍
Currently have the Overland and Overland Sport, and they are by far my favorite knives in my collection. The Sport has been in the pocket daily since getting over 2 months ago and the full size lives in my backpack. Also been looking at the LT 5 and Confidante for next knives I get.
I received mine 2wks ago & have been using it & absolutely love it. It's not a small knife, it's not a large knife but. If I could only take, this would be grt choice
And if someone did manage to tear the leather loop off it would be extremely easy to repair. You could use a number of different materials to make a loop to keep your knife at your side!.
everyone makes their a2 around 59-60 so that tells me theyre just trying to make a safe rockwell not actually the highest performing hardness so thanks for sharing your experiment process in trying to get the best rockwell for the LT5 that actually speaks to me about the higher rockwell youve chosen. have you noticed any improved stainlessness with the higher rockwell?
I have been using this knife over the last month or so and to say I really like this knife would be an under statement. TJ has done a great job with the design & execution of this blade. 1. The edge. I have beaten the holy hell out of the edge to try to make it chip. I have been chopping into All the different wood we have in Alaska. The most I have been able to do is make a small section of the apex roll and it easily straightened out on a ceramic rod. 2. Handle. I am now a huge fan of Richlite. I like it more than G10 & a lot more than micarta. It feels really good in the hand to hold the knife. With a hard grip you don’t even feel the retaining screws. 3. Sheath. TJ has really improved on his kydex. I had one of the early Overland models and to be honest his kydex was mediocre & hard to replace the knife. This sheath is absolutely perfect and it doesn’t scratch the cerakote. 4. The cerakote is holding up surprisingly well. There is no exposed steel. Yes there is some expected wear but no underlying exposure. 5. The 90-deg spine is perfect on a ferro rod/ fire steel. I lit a fire yesterday with a single strike. 6. Edge holding and sharpening. The steel holds a great edge due to the higher Rockwell. Very easy to sharpen on my KME. 7. Cost. This is a great value. $195 for a perfect Alaskan bush knife? There are so many more expensive knives that don’t have near the features. This is a very very good knife. A lot of thought and work went into this. I absolutely love this knife. Greg PS. I bought this knife with my own money and this review are my views. I take this knife out in the woods with me daily because it’s a great knife.
Saw this and was Highly impressed with it, even more impressed when I got one in my hands... Excellent work TJ, would like to know what the edge angle do you put on these?
It is not. Hole spacing on the drop rig is 5/8" vs the 3/4" on the Tek-Lok. I have seen some people mount it, presumably by drilling or slotting holes out on one or the other.
God willing this will be my next Aquisition, ironically I was chatting with @thelasthuntsmanoutdoors earlier about how much I liked the design and price.
great locale for your vids... dig the thoughts you put into not only the blade but the sheath... made not only in America but in one of the best states and i want to support you i will also contact you about making sheaths for blades we send in to you... 🪂🕶🔪
I'm here because of Aaron over at Gid Tac. He beat the living snot out of this thing in his review. Glad to see you put it in the hands of someone that actually uses their stuff.
That’s a well thought out design all the way, very cool and awesome ‼️
Such an excellent video about the lost trail Knife All of your knives continue to impress me every time I use one definitely are my top go two knives

I love how light this knife is for its size 💪
Thank you! I'm a backpacker at heart 🤣
I'm sold. The attention to detail is so professional and careful.
This knife is totally AWESOME dude. I will say this is one of my favorite knives in this size. I definitely will be doing a part two on this knife in the future.
The quality content you have put out featuring the LT5 is appreciated very much, man!
It's an Outstanding value!. Especially when you factor in all the innovation and top shelf thinking that went into this project. This gets All Five Thumbs Up Sir👍👍👍👍👍!!.

100% - uncoated Magnacut and you'll have a TRC slayer.

Just saw this on Gideon's vid - ordering one as soon as they're back in stock. This knife ticks the boxes that I've been looking for.
Been eyeballing this knife for almost 2 years now I love it. I can’t get over how beautiful the design is and I know this sounds wild but I will edc this thing 😂

Just got one ordered. Thank you!
I use a Lie-Nielsen A2 blade in my handplane for woodworking. A2 is great steel, it holds its edge for a long time.
I love your knives and all your videos and I feel very inspired! Do you have any plans on doing a video on how you got started and how you grew your business?
Cant wait to get one! I can tell you put a tremendous amount of thought into the knife and the sheath.
So glad you went A2 and not 1095. Its such a good carbon steel.
Howdy TJ! Well I have 4 of your knives including this one so obviously like your craft and style. Thanks for being different and walking your own trail! Saddle up!
Thanks a ton, man. That means a lot 👊

The thinking mans knife! Well done and good CommonCents!
Cool knife .

Look like a super camp knife !

I’ve gotta get one Great job on the design man I’ll be all over the next drop
Got mine today and it’s an absolutely beautiful blade.
I suggest making the belt loop wider than the knife handle. I find big knives with skinny belt loops tend to flop and twist on my belt.
Love mine. Use it all the time
Love hearing that our knives are getting used 👍
Great looking blade. Definitely on my list! Would love to see an uncoated version
@dutchbushcraftknives need to test!
TJ, so well thought out, I'll be picking one of these up to add to my Overland and Overland Sport set! I have to admit that I have steered clear of A2 steel knives, but you have me sold now. 👍

Just grabbed one today from your latest drop!
Thank you!
Will there be more of this variant anytime soon ? ( OD cerakote and OD sheath ) my personal favorite by far. Thanks TJ , this is a home run!
PLEASE make a LT5 sport (LT2.8 maybe). I just love the LT5 shape, and a EDC variant sound awesome.
Imma try to scoop tomorrow 8/16 drop…leggo
And if someone did manage to tear the leather loop off it would be extremely easy to repair. You could use a number of different materials to make a loop to keep your knife at your side!.
awesome Knife! Please make a Magnacut run. I would buy it at any cost.

I love A2. LT Wright's A2 is great. I'd love to try some higher hardness A2.
I handled some of LT Wright's knives at Blade Show this year. Very cool stuff. I can see why they are a major player in the camp/bushcraft world.
Are y’all planning on doing another run of the OD Green LT5? They sold out so fast! Any chance to pre-order?
Think we’ll see this black richlite available on your other models?
This looks like one I'll have to add to my collection. Question: how come no jimping? Would you be willing to put a greyish cerekote on the blade?
The knife he's displaying in the video has Charcoal gray cerakote. It's one of 3 cerakote coating options you can get these in 👍
I have been using this knife over the last month or so and to say I really like this knife would be an under statement. TJ has done a great job with the design & execution of this blade.

Greg
PS. I bought this knife with my own money and this review are my views. I take this knife out in the woods with me daily because it’s a great knife.
What a thorough review for a UA-cam comment. I am so glad this knife has served you well up in Alaska! Thanks again.
Make it in 3v or magnacut and I’ll buy two.
Nice looking knife but.... the price is a little high 😢
Saw this and was Highly impressed with it, even more impressed when I got one in my hands... Excellent work TJ, would like to know what the edge angle do you put on these?
Thanks for picking one up! I sharpen these using a fixture that retains an angle of 20 degrees per side.
Is the spacing on the stainless drop rig compatible with a tek lok?
It is not. Hole spacing on the drop rig is 5/8" vs the 3/4" on the Tek-Lok. I have seen some people mount it, presumably by drilling or slotting holes out on one or the other.
TJ, are you considering doing a folder again? I have the one you did with Millet for Drop.
And I like the camp knife design.
We have actually never made a folder in house before. I think it's likely going to happen in the future, but the plans aren't in place yet.
With survive knives going under…..they are missing a big market not having this in magnacut like there other knives.
👍
husky selling knives :))
I’d like Lost Trail 4 in CPM 3V
God willing this will be my next Aquisition, ironically I was chatting with @thelasthuntsmanoutdoors earlier about how much I liked the design and price.
Thank you!
great locale for your vids...
dig the thoughts you put into not only the blade but the sheath...
