    This for me is the best and favourite design, layout, depth, choice of fish and quantity and I've watched 100s of your videos! Maybe a little more taller plants or smaller trees but otherwise fantastic and honestly I'll say it again the best of the lot!

    Wow that pond is unbelievable. Only thing I would of done different is build up a rock wall in the back for a higher waterfall. Everything else is perfect.

    Hi, not sure if it was said in the video but I wonder how you keep the fish safe from predators like herons?

      Idk how they do but I do know that using a pond dye helps hide the fish from overhead predators. Netting is also an option.

    I have a question would it be possible to make it a saltwater pond so you could not only have fish but corals n invertebrates I know clams clean the water along with many others you could even grow mangroves in the wetland area?.

    Sure is a lot of algae in this swim pond. Would you recommend certain types of fish, snails, etc., to help reduce it?

      It’s just what happens, it’s in the sun all day it’s gonna grow algae no matter water.

      they say it takes a year or two for the ecosystem to even out to reduce the amount of algae (or at least some kinds of it)...

      Majority of the algae is concentrated in the wetland filter where the plants around absorb the excess nutrients.

      I agree that algae will always grow but that many fish without a lot of plants is a pretty heavy bioload.

    Some spend $$$ on cars, boats, RV's, others on a nice pool or pond, I totally would go for this...If I had the money. Well spend and very beautiful. Well done!

    Feasible to run all the pumps and such off solar rather than typical electric draw? Either way, that's a fantastic feature.

    What is the minimum space requirement for a swim pond? Is it possible to build a standard pool sized one in the backyard of a house on a 5k-7k sqft lot? (Asking for us folks in California with smaller lots)

      They do come in all sizes, no different than a swimming pool. And swim ponds, such as this one, can be customized to fit your space perfectly! The fifth link in Greg's description can lead you to find a CAC near you to construct one as well.

    How does a rec pond handle people having lotions or hair treatments? Do people need to shower first, like in a pool?

      It's personal preference mostly but it being biologically balanced it wouldn't be harmful, of course having an excess of such products on is not recommended either.

      We are in Sweden, different climate, but have lots of golden orfe in our swimming pond. It's partly filled with brackish seawater which these fish love :)

      They were placed on top on some rocks with the tops and bottom cut out to be level.

    Super nice and wish I could have one. The guy says that he don't know why people don't do those instead of swimming pools. It's becaus3 most normal working g class people don't have hundreds of thousands of $$$ to put into that. I just had a 40x60 inground pool put in for $45'000. That same size for o e of these po is would probably be around $250,000

      This pond was similar priced to a 18x40 swimming pool. I know the smaller you go the less they cost. Neighbor has one that is 15x15 and it was very reasonably priced as a landscaping feature

      Water is deep enough doesn't freeze.
      We had -18° F Temps last week. This week warmer and u can see fish hanging out in bottom!
      It's pretty awesome to see it

      The cost was similar to 18'x40swimming pool.
      Much more enjoyable to spend time around and no pool equipment or chemicals to deal with!
      Would recommend it any day

      Decided on pond for the 365 days a year enjoyment!

      It was similar priced to pool we had bid out. Pool itself is less expensive but it's all the extra things that's you have to do with exterior of pools that really add up.
      We wouldn't trade our pond for pool now that we've had for 3 years!

    Don’t want to be gross but , what about the fish poop?
    I’m sure the water is filtered but wouldn’t it be along the bottom and get stirred up?

      We didn’t evolve swimming in Chlorine! I shower when I get out of a pool or hot tub. After a Rec Pond I air dry!

    You can tell these fish die a lot because they are so small.

      There was 8 fish put in originally.. all were estimated at 8-10years old.. all still in pond.. they have all doubled in size in 3 years. Rest of fist came from 15 3-6" fish we put in and all rest are offspring.
      We do have herons that come almost daily but the dogs love to chase them off!

    To answer your first question: Me, I would rather have a swimming pool over that. 1000x’s over and then some. I love swimming in lakes and such but that looks horrible. Also feels like it would add very little value to the home as well. Anyways to each their own.

      Several of my neighbors have ponds, they all are all different shapes and sizes, each as enjoyable as the other, definitely don't have to spend a lot of $$ to be able to enjoy the water
