Intuitively solving a twisty puzzle is an amazing feeling. Even just watching someone else do it is nice. I recently solved the clover cube plus intuitively and I can safely say that those were some of the most fun hours of my life. Every time I solve it I'm reminded of how great it was the first time. I recommend solving something intuitively to any cuber looking for a reason to smile.

I liked it more when he used to prove that he actually learned it and didn't just stop the timer when he first solves it (cause that can be partly or fully luck). I'm not saying that he didn't actually learn how to solve them, I just feel like having that confirmation and then explaining how it works adds a much more satisfying end to the video.

When i was at school. I learnt to solve the corners first after getting one side complete, then 2 algorithms to move the edges around. Sadly i only remember one of those now so it takes much longer. I have someone's 5x5 to solve now, so i have to learn a different , more stsndard, way to solve that cos my methods won't work. I had thought that it wouldn't be too hard as I have heard from a lot of the internet that it would be easy. I tried to learn the pyraminx layer by layer intuitively, but I eventually gave up as you explained it was really strange to me. That day, I figured out how it worked via tutorial, beginner method (solve sides until you get lucky). I eventually learned some pyraminx algorithms and by now, I am pretty confident with this WCA event. As a 3x3 main event solver, I love the pyraminx and I love that you were able to figure this out.

For most of what you got it will be easier to use a tutorial so you can at least solve the thing.

I have a collection of 20-30 puzzles lined up on my windowsill, including a pyraminx. I had some workmates round for a games evening a few years back. Turns out there are 2 types of people - those who find it funny to scramble the whole collection, and those who want to see them all solved again. One guy who’s never solved these things, doesn’t know any basic algorithms or principles at all, took it upon himself to solve the pyraminx. People started to leave until just this guy was left - I didn’t know him that well but we got on well enough. I gently hinted that maybe it was time to leave, that I was quite tired, that I’d quite like to go to bed, but he was insistent on solving this pyraminx. About an hour later (after maybe 2 hours total?) he got there, thank god. I’ve since learnt to hide my collection from certain groups.

The 3x3x3 cube always frustrated me because it felt like I should be able to figure out how to solve it intuitively, but could only successfully get to one side properly solved without using an algorithm.

I remember getting invited to a D&D group, the hosts had a bunch of twisty puzzles.
I spent an hour or so solving them intuitively, and they were in awe.
I think the pyraminx took around 20 mins, but I didn't know how to solve a 3x3 or even a 2x2 at the time.
So I was probably experimenting more, and that allowed me to make faster progress
