Came across a feature of this a couple of weeks ago. I love this truck. The time in which you built this rig though is insane. Hats off to you gentlemen.
We had the break in the front early on that was the result of a set of cheap u-joints. The J8 Dana 44 is plenty strong and is actually built by Dynatrac. We sleeved the already beefy tubes along with building a truss to span across. Chromoly shafts, ARB air locker, Superior gears, Reid knuckles, BTF diff covers, and unit bearings from a Ram 1500 rounded out the buildup to run the 40s. No problems to date since we swapped in new chromoly Superior u-joints up front.
We did more last year with the stock NP231 t-case and found ourselves "bumping it" more than we'd like to have to. Since then we've upgraded to a TJ Rubicon NP241 and hand throttle which makes wheeling the AX-15 a breeze.
We were actually impressed with how the Maxxis Trepador radials did on the trip, there aren't many 40'' radials on the market and they handled great on the rocks, the mud, slimy hill climbs and especially on the road cruising from trail to trail. Unbalanced with internal beadlocks we were cruising at 75mph without issues.
Ultimate Adventure is more than just mud, it's a week long adventure of mud, rocks, dirt and highway driving of 1000+ miles. We chose the Maxxis Trepador Radials because they perform well on all types of terrain and they did phenomenal for us.
We're running 14'' travel Fox 2.5 remote reservoir coilovers at all four corners. Suspension is a prototype 4-link front longarm and triagulated 4-link rear longarm. Overall its about 6-7'' taller than stock
Well, what a bummer lol. At least i have some good pics to go off of... love what you guys are doing and the quality of craftsmenship. Cant wait to order my lift for my xj after the holidays! thank you so much. I Will definately be sporting your logo on my jeep soon. jarmo, st.louis mo.
I appreciate the response. I have a 1988 Comanche with 35s and have been trying for about a year on what to replace the stock Dana30 and rear Dana 35 with.
We've got a whole video about fender install during buildup available on our page. They're made by a company by the name of Hannemann Fiberglass, not the simplest install, but it's a killer look when they're on there
The sliders were a one-off fabrication for our MJ that were actually recessed into the rocker panels and integrated with our unibody plating. With all the fabrication necessary it's not something we plan to sell. The measurements wouldn't be something I have readily available and is probably not something R&D would just hand over. We have more info on the entire project on our blog (check the link in this video's description)
We towed the MJ out to Moab in our enclosed trailer along with our displays for the vendor show part of EJS, other than that it was out wheeling all week. We had a non-street-legal buggy that had to be towed from trail to trail... Check out the photos on our Facebook page
I understand choosing them for a weekend warrior. But a vehicle such as that is a trail rig, thus I would get the most aggressive tires (mud terrains) for maximum performance offroad particularly mud. I just saw allot of slipping throughout the video and thought more aggressive tires would have improved traction. Those tires would be great for the desert and rock crawling, but if my rig saw mud I wouldn't choose those.
@motorguro We're running a beefed up JK J8 Dana44/Dana60 in the Comanche with 5.38 Superior gears with a Golen 4.6L stroker.... To check out the build thread and full specs, check out the link at the bottom of the video description
I have a question about your rock sliders and rear bumper on that awesome mj, did you guys make those yourself? will you be offering them soon? and if not, could you be so nice as to offer measurements to make them myself?
I could see by the tiny size of your exhaust muffler your using the Stock engine..? Really ? With that tire size you only think you only need a gear change ? Wow.. Why not drop the LS engine between the fenders and then tell Me what you think ?

u gotta put a newer radiator in commanches and xj to get rid of the preessurized system

Thanks guys. My buddy just saw the MJ in moab, but it was on a trailer!
love this truck…words just can't describe it
Jeep pickups are sick, I might be getting a 65 Gladiator.
Let me start by saying you guys are bad ass and I love the comanche. I just can't wrap my head around why you guys didn't use aggressive mud terrains?
Yall need to make long arm kit for the MJ on your site

There is a link in the description with all the info on the project build. It's running J8 axles (Dana44 front / Dana 60 rear)
"That's the carnage right there."
"That's broken."
No idea why, but that made me laugh a lot hahaha
We currently don't offer the long arm kit installed on the MJ, but we do offer some options for them available on our website.
where did you buy those fenders? i would guess they also fit cherokee xj?

Fenders are from Hannemann Fiberglass. Check out the MJ Build playlist on our page for more info

@1bdog23 Good catch, you are correct. There wasn't too much growling going on at UA

im doing a 1 ton cherokee on 40's and I really like those front fenders. Are they available to buy to were they custom made for your build?
Did you feel comfortable running those axles with that large of a tire?
With the Ax15 did you have to ride the clutch all the time because of lack of gearing?
That trucks SO. FUCKING. SICK.
What's size of lift is that? And how many inch's of travel does it have?
very nice comanche

what gears are u running in the axils. and is it the stock 4.0 L ?

what housings were you running in that thing? looks like a chrysler 9 1/4 in the rear?
Do you guys sell the life kit that is on the MJ? I'm looking into gettin mine lifted
Sweet video!
Couldn't give you a price... We sort of stopped counting the parts and labor, it was getting a bit out of control during the buildup.
so cool
How are you the suspension sponsor and yet on your own rig you do not even sell any suspension kits for? Makes zero sense to me.
I can't even afford to fix my Comanche..But, I wanna do this.
The two people who dislike this had a jeep bought a ford and their still on the road dead
I believe she had around around 220,000 miles on her when we started this build... That engine and drivetrain is long gone now though
sweet rig!

or**
I dont see your Truck going up that hill
Thumbs up (:
Wow all these 'quality' products seem to break really easily.
Mhmmm its not just a jeep its a wayalife :) OlllllO
get real tires
