    SUB sounds fatter/warm, MM sounds cleaner/brighter, just my ear...I really don't think many could tell them apart at a live show once dialed in. You can eq the SUB to sound anyway to want, but they do have a very hot output.

    Wow, the Sterling sounds a lot fuller and richer to my ears. Call me surprised!

      So yes...he has a lot of boom! The EQs on the DI and the basses are literally the same.
      I think, that the sound of the StingRay is more defined in the mids, also he has a 3 band eq and the Series/Filter/Parallel switch. So the StingRay is way more versatile. Also the neck feel of the Specials is unparalleled. He is just so much nicer to play.
      BUT:
      Should anyone be ashamed of a Sterling? NO!
      Is the Sterling 5 times worse as the price would suggest? HELL NO!

    Imo the sterling sounds better in the fingerstyle parts
    But in those slap parts nothing can compare with that music man

    Might be helpful to turn the bass down about 10dB to hear how it sits in the mix.

      I personally love that, but if I do so, I will get many comments on how the bass isn't audible enough on mobile phones.
      And as...sadly...most viewers use their cell phones to watch content, I am going this route.

    I'd like someone to do one of these between the short scales between sterling and EBMM

    Is it me or the sub series sounds better and beefier? Anyhow, you needed more bass in that tone. It’s too bright

    The Special sounds much better even through the tiny speakers on my tablet. Take the pickguard off and then have a look at the sloppy untidy wiring and horrible soldering job inside the Sterling not to mention the frets higher up on the neck sharp enough to cut your fingers off ( I should know, I have a Sterling), cheap feel to the knobs, finicky cheap tuners. Then compare that to the immaculately organized wiring and electronics, proper soldering plus perfectly smooth frets, luscious tuners and buttery smooth knobs on the Special. Even the feel of just plugging in your guitar cord is different. You get what you pay for.

      Yes. I would say, that the StingRays (Classic or Special) really one of the few more expensive basses, which really are worth their money and don't give the impression 60% of the price is for the name.
      But I will be honest. The Sterlings SUBs are somewhere in the 3xx Euro range. That's right where they belong, but also where they do a good job.

      What about the Sterling Ray34/35?

    • @Insoma
      @Insoma  2 роки тому +2

      Hey! Thanks for commenting. The Ray34/35...depending of which year you are talking. Before 2020 they were very good basses, but with a noticable drop of to the US Rays, but a step up from the Sub Series.
      The new Ray34/35 (I own one by now) is a significantly better bass. They feature the roasted maple neck from the Specials, the 3 Band EQ and now feature the Alnico Pickups which are used to be in the US StingRay Classic. Some folks really don't like the Neodynium pickups from the US Specials.
      So many others and myself playing and testing the new Ray34 share the opinion that there is almost no sound difference. Especially if not played back to back.
      A blind test is almost impossible.
      So if you dont feel entitled to only buy US made products, you don't feel the newd for an 18V PreAmp and you don't need a flightcase....you can easily go with a new Ray34. Incredible bass!

    Hello. Can you tell me which pickup is installed on the SUB series manufactured in Indonesia? I will be very grateful.

  • @DavidePerrone

    the pickup has different position on the two models. Wonder know why....

    • @yeahrock1809
      @yeahrock1809 7 місяців тому

      it's just the way the bridge on the SUB bass is designed, the actual distance from saddle to pickup is the same
