Such a fulfilling job caring for these guys! Elderly animals do need special attention. I’m touched with how lucky these Donkeys are to have such care!
What an excellent production of very valuable information on welfare of elderly donkeys....covering things most don’t think about and of course, the day we dread, to say goodbye. The Donkey Sanctuary is nothing short of miraculous with its dedication, love (staff, volunteers, patrons and supporters) towards the welfare and compassion for this much, and often, even nowadays, maligned beautiful intelligent equine. Thank you very much for this production and the work you do. X
Damn, I don't even own a donkey and I'm getting a little emotional over the idea of saying goodbye. I wonder if donkeys can be therapy animals like horses.
Okay you had me crying in the last chapter, it's always hard saying goodbye to a close animal who has been with you for such a long time. After we lost our 14 year old labrador Holly to cancer , we went on holiday to devon and came to the sanctuary, We used the donkeys to help ease our pain especially my wife . As she had lost both of her parents this year and found comfort spending time with the donkeys and we adopted CoCo . You do such a wonderful job and if we lived closer , my wife and i would volunteer. Keep up the great work and hopefully we will be back next year. Xx
I lost my labarador 6 years ago, and to be honest it was the hardest time in my life. Now I just met a donkey that made me feel better for the first time
Such a beautiful & touching video, thank you so much for this information & all that you do for them. You guys are truly angels on earth. These innocent gentle souls deserve nothing but love 💗
My boy, who is now around 20, is showing signs of 'change' He sniffs the ground as we walks, his head is bowed down, he walks slowly, eats less and just seems more frail. I spend time with him, holding him. grooming him and talking to him. Not sure what is going on.....maybe he is just winding down from this life. In comparison, his 30 year old rescue friend is a mini horse who is vital, energized, frisky and very lively. I'm not sure what to do......
